Immortality is a big budget drama that is shelved by NRTA. It is said that their license will end this year along…
I can understand less engagement because of the restrictions for promotion to protect the actors careers in China, but why income? The Untamed (for example) is still huge internationally, it's viewable and purchasable by pay per view on all major international streaming sites. These shows could definitely make good money at the very least. Will they not get paid like other Asian countries shows do, airing on these sites? I don't know if you know, I'm just throwing out questions here xD
Imo, Cn BL's could corner the market on unique, creative, beautiful and romantic LGBTQ stories. Nothing in the LGBTQ western market is the same as these shows. Western LGBTQ shows have some greats, but in a very different way, you know? Even BL's coming out of Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, etc don't manage to capture the same atmosphere and intensity of the Cn BL's. It's quite literally a shame.
The more hype a series has, the less likely they are to release it.
That actually does seem to be the general consensus. People online are saying that's why iQiyi is holding back the release, trying to feel out the situation, they're probs worried it'll be taken down again and who knows what other negative sh*t might follow for the actors.
It's a fan picture taken from a far distance and zoomed in a lot. As I mentioned, I'd seen it in passing before on pinterest, the picture is actually taken from quite a distance. Now it's circulating again. But I don't actually know which drama the picture is really from.
oh wow!! That would be too good to be true XD don't know if I can believe if it's them, cuz we're talking of China…
Yeeeesss, after watching the series my headcannon was already that Lanzhu and Jiushi got together after ZaoZao died, just like in the novel, because I feel like the series still left that open to interpretation. And this picture just makes me think of the kiss Nanzhu and Qiushi shared after she died in the novel. It's a nice dream :3

xD you put a lot of effort into subbing the ones you shared, it's of interest to you so it's understandable. But the professional subs are still flawed, in ep 1 of Viu's subs I found two major mistakes. One grammar and one translation error. Then there are other minor errors. I haven't watched passed ep1 yet, waiting for iQiyi. What exactly are you looking for? Mistakes or different translated meanings?

Nah, at the moment the only Asian streaming site I subscribe to is iQiyi. I was considering dropping it for a month for Viu, but I'd prefer if The Spirealm is aired on iQiyi. You don't wanna' wait for iQiyi? I know Viki at least has an airing date.

My country's iQiyi is still showing 'coming soon' and I've got it reserved so I'll get a notice on my phone app when it's aired. That said, if iQiyi doesn't air it, seeing as how Viki isn't showing it available in my country, the other option is for me to buy a Viu Thai subscription and use a VPN. I wanna support the show, but these streaming sites and their geolock bullsh*t is annoying.
wait what!! are they kissing in that picture, we were robbed π
Yeah. Makes me wonder though, about any scenes filmed 'in case' the ban is ever lifted, put away if ever one day they can do another release free of the media based oppression. Can you imagine????? It's just imagining, but a person can dream xD

I don't think it's them, I mean, it definitely couldn't be, this picture was around before The Spirealm came out BUT it looks like them and it gives me FEEEEEELS. π
https://za.pinterest.com/pin/1104437508608417069 I've seen this picture before I knew of The Spirealm, now I see it again on pinterest and suddenly my eyes are lying to me. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder if there are scenes filmed in Chinese BL's that'll never see the light of day.
About the ending I think the game was a coma dream none of the characters were real, he loved his dream so much…
The censorship in China caused that ending. They had to make Jiushi an old sad man who wasted his life on recreating a dream he had in his youth. After the VERY obvious romantic vibes in the show between Jiushi and Lanzhu, this was probably the only way the showrunners could get the Chinese government's 'no homo' seal of approval.

It's not surprising that this is happening, it's actually expected, but as one of the people who has already watched it before this re-release, and has it on my computer and can watch it any time, I will still be streaming it on an official site (probs iQiyi once it's there) and I hope that those who can afford it or who do have access to watching it on official streaming sites will support the official release :D
ha you call that bittersweet but why am i depressed for lingling. i HATE that ending.
I usually advise taking 77 as the final ep and reading the novel, or even just reading from chapter 130 onwards (through the final door and to the end) because the ending of 77 can still tie into the novel's ending which is perfect. That's my ending. I just let 78 go tbh π
(there is no more ep 78, I forgot it's changed now, so I'll say I let go of the last 10 min of ep 38)
