To be specific, it's a censored major part from the original novel, in which Ruan Nanzhu consistently disguises…
Yeah it's a pity to leave out some stuff, Lanzhu really likes to ham up his acting when he's dressed as Baijie in the novel, he's so extra sometimes it's hilarious. But the series doesn't suffer for it, in the series since they couldn't include it, they incorporated it as much as they could in other small ways, and I think it's done really well. You'll notice a few things about Lanzhu's behaviour in the series which, if he was dressed up as Baijie, it'd be really epic and novel accurate.
"Lingling ge πŸ₯Ί I'm scared, will you protect me?" πŸ˜‚

The contrast between the novel and the series is actually quite major in MANY ways. If you're a reader, then I'd recommend trying the novel after you finish the series. It'll be a whole new treat!

As for poor Meng Yu, well, he's got fantastic taste at least, even if he got the gender wrong πŸ˜†

guys i have a silly little question pls.i just started watching this and im so confused who this bai jie (?) girl…
To be specific, it's a censored major part from the original novel, in which Ruan Nanzhu consistently disguises himself by cross dressing as Ruan Baijie (sometimes Zhu Meng) when he goes into the door world. The producers could not actively include a cross dressing ML character into a censored BL, so in the series they referenced Ruan Lanzhu in a cross dressing disguise with the picure Meng Yu has on his phone and in a few other indirect (not visually portrayed) examples, addressing it as a side story for the most part. So yeah, the AI got it right, Lanzhu is indeed Baijie πŸ˜‚

Ep 20: Damn, not Jinzhen being the definition of a pretty little liar! Yeesh, gurl.

I saw some people talking on here and on another site about The Untamed (and other Cn censored shows) not being BL, only bromance, just because they're tagged as 'censored', and I just find that really funny. Because technically in every Cn censored BL, 'bromance' is a FORCED genre/tag, the producers literally have no choice but to call it bromance. But when watching these shows, it's pretty obvious that the relationships are NOT meant to be platonic, as per the source material, rather the relationships are portrayed in a way that is not overtly sexual/physical.
This goes back as far as Advance Bravely. I mean, it's pretty obvious that no censored BL ML characters are 'just friends'. Or is it just me?

Ep 16: Enjoying this show quite a lot, not what I was expecting and that's a good thing. It really got interesting around ep 12-13 for me. Everyone in this really brought their A-game too. LQS's actor really got me hating/pitying him for real that bastard is such a mess. And I like Jinzhen a lot, keen to see more of her serious side as opposed to the happy-go-lucky good little sister persona she keeps up around her family.

I gotta say though, the scene on the stairs with Ruolai becoming Tunan's mentee was so extra with the music and the slow motion πŸ˜‚ Like, being someone's mentor/mentee is not that deep. They made it like he was being knighted or summat. Good for Ruolai though, he needs to catch a break.

hi, can anyone tell me what the story is about in more detail? thanks in advance :)
The show is based in a modern world, following the story of what happens to Ling Jiushi (Huang Junjie) who is a virtual reality game developer. The story begins when he plays a VR game which is rumored to cause hallucinations and kill people, which he doesn't believe. He gets dragged into the game world (World of Doors/Spiritual Realm/Door World) where he meets Lanzhu (Xia Zhiguang) who is experienced in the Door World, he saves Jiushi's life in the first door, and then they go on to get to know each other, facing more doors and obstacles together, helping each other and becoming closer as the story unravels.

There are 12 doors in total. If you die in the Door World, you eventually die in the real world too. And the objective is for players to survive all 12 doors in order to be released from entering the Door World.

The story includes video game terminology and plot devices, some horror elements, mild gore, mild violence and supernatural elements. Other things included are great characters, a good, complicated plot with a good pace, great acting, humor, suspense, great visuals and the ML's fantastic ᡇromance (lol it's not a bromance at all, they're definitely into each other).

Someone should re edit the details of this drama page . Anyone who doesn't know that it got axed will think that…
They said they won't change it. There doesn't seem to be a category for dramas that got aired and taken down before airing completed. People just have to refer to the synopsis to know that it was intended to be 30 eps and got cancelled after 8 Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

What is wrong with sub titles. can anyone recommend a site with correct titles?
The Spirealm is going to be available officially on iQiyi soon, probably with official subs, but if you want to watch it before its re-release (since there's no date yet) you'll find links in the comments and discussion section of where to watch the show with subs done by super helpful fans.

what happened to justice in the dark happens to this show It’s over, I would no longer have faith in this world
At least we got to watch this series to the end thanks to the fans who swiped it before it was taken down, unlike Justice in the Dark that was only uploaded to ep 8. And now, with The Spirealm seemingly set to be available again on iQiyi soon (after being taken down completely within 2 hours of being aired originally), I'm actually hoping Justice in the Dark will be fully aired too in future 😭

An excuse to rewatch it AGAIN when it's re-released is to see if it's been extra extra censored πŸ˜‚

P.S: Xia ZhiGuang sings the song clip at the opening of EP78 which is already awesome, and now I just saw someone post saying they hope we get the full version and now I WANT THE FULL VERSION.

It's actually quite different tbh. Not all the doors are included, some characters are not included and some others are changed to have slightly different roles in the show at different points. The series is more sentimental and emotional in a lot of ways too, and less violent and dark inside the doors. Lanzhu (Nanzhu) and Jiushi (Qiushi) are also a little different in temperament (better, I think, especially Lanzhu). ML's chemistry is great. And as LordFengCui mentioned, the premise is turned into a video game as opposed to another realm of existence as is written in the book.

Over all, the adaption is fantastic, and imo it's actually better than the book in some major ways. Reading some 'non spoiler' reviews or even some spoiler reviews (since you already read the novel) might give you an idea of what to expect.
