Oh, yeah, sure, Korn only eludes to it once after what happens that he was drugged by that guy. For the most part the story narrative suggests he'd just been drinking.

XD I'm not sure what you mean by being too old for TGCF lol Personally, I think the depth and reach of the story was more fantastical, layered and nuanced. MDZS was fantastical, nuanced and had layers too, just on a smaller scale. I liked the Epicness of TGCF, I could easily see it turning into a blockbuster movie series (if such a thing were possible without ruining the story) and also, Hua Cheng is just PEAK character creation for me.

So I'll just give you a basic idea of what to expect:
- morally gray characters
- somewhat sexually and personality-wise aggressive Top male leads (assuming you know what I mean here? lol) with sassy/snarky Bottom male leads
- some lies and manipulation and plotting between the mains (plot based)
- angst peppered in here and there and everywhere
- humor (both dark and fluffy)
- dark themes of morally gray characters
and finally
- gayness, all the gayness (with attractive actors)

If all the former types of things in a western show don't put you off, and you're open to it all being included in gay romance, then you're good to go ✌️

You've never watched BL but you've watched LGBTQ? Hard to say whether you'd like it if you never watched either, but if you've watched LGBTQ and want to dip into BL, depending on your tastes, starting with Revenged Love will either set the bar too high and you'll be disappointed with most of what Thailand, SK, Taiwan and Japan produce in the BL genre, or you'll dislike Revenged Love since it has some darker themes and it may put you off watching other BLs. lol

You're at a weird starting point. My opinion is that this show will easily be one of the best BLs in the genre, it's gonna leave its mark for sure long after it's done airing, HOWEVER, it's a Chinese BL which enters the game with a very different play from other countries (Cn BLs have always been on another level) so it's awesome, but it also may be an acquired taste for some. What's your content type preference? Beginner - Intermediate - Experienced?

There are different reasons, sometimes it's because the Chinese actors may have conflicting accents depending on where in China they are from, so for consistency, they choose to use voice actors.
Or an actor's voice may not always 'suit' the character for adapted works, or the actor's enunciation isn't clear enough and doesn't project well. Another reason, although, it is mostly done for period/costume dramas, but is also sometimes used for modern dramas, is due to the noise on set. In China they don't do like western sets do, where the sets are noise controlled for most scenes, so they dub over the voices for clarity after the fact.

LOL ah the rando moments in danmei that make us say wtaf. I mean, also, Lan Zhan broke the bath tub...like, really? It was hot though, and MDZS is FANASTIC. The story plot was brilliant, Lan Zhan and Wei Ying were just a MAJOR bonus. MDZS is my fave MXTX work after TGCF.

Despite its silly plot premise is was a good watch. No brotherly sexual relations or age difference tropes to be see anywhere and the MLs chem was 🔥

Not finding his body type attractive is fine bro, I don't either (this is not new for me, 80% of BLs have MLs with soft slim bodies that don't match their ages and I often which they'd keep their shirts on) but ngl, you're reaching with the pedo talk. The actor's grown af, he's just skinny, that's just his body type, it is what it is.

XD I think reading it could still be good for those who can stomach those dark topics, if only for being able to make a comparison to the adaptation which she is now proud of. She's not the first Asian author to have some whack ass or nonsensical shit happening in her older work, I am a fan of MXTX, but MDZS's forest floor sex scene made me laugh when I first read it years ago.

LOL yes, for the 'serious/dangerous/bad boy' Top's in China they always get the voice over artists with the deep authoritative voices, or else the voice doesn't resonate quite right. In The Spirealm they did the same with Xia Zhiguang, his real voice was not nearly 'strong' enough for a character like Ruan Lanzhu, so even though they'd used his voice in the trailer, in the series he was dubbed over.

Yes, so it seems. If you watch the bts it certainly sounds like his voice and accent projects very clearly. Some actors train to do their own voice overs :D

Good stuff, entertaining watch.
The 'angst' part of this was a little bit of an 'okay then' story line, it felt like angst just for the sake of angst tbh, as in, the little 'scandal' could easily have been avoided if the characters made somewhat better communication choices. But the actors, especially the actor of Jeongwu was very convincing emotionally and so it was good to watch those scenes.
The other lead was less expressive, facially and in delivering the emotional tones, but Jeongwu's actor carried most of the scenes well enough for them both and their chemistry level was good, comfortable and fluffy with a little bit of sexiness too.

Over all, definitely one of SK's better BLs for sure. It'll make my BL recc list and I give it an 8.5.

Trapped in Osaka is amazing, I was tracking it from the start on YT, I even added it to my BL recc list after it completed and I'm waiting to watch the director's cut. That series did more in 4 short episodes than most BLs manage in 12 episodes! Not to mention the excellent visuals the MLs served. DAYUM.

If you try The Bangkok Boy, I hope you enjoy it, it definitely includes darker themes and it's very much more plot based with a BL romance included, not a BL romance with a weak plot in the background, hence the reason the rating isn't so high. Too many fans want more BL scenes and less story plot. I personally am enjoying it just as it is.

Knock Out WASTED so much potential, but ngl, Ait and Win are a visual serve for days lol
