I think a lot of younger people are used to a Hollywood or Disney approach where every point is hammered home…
"When you are young and idealistic you do that sort of stuff." ~~ This. And then six years later when they meet again Qi Lu seems to want to wish something about past, but he laughs and says 'never mind let it stay in the past' because distance, age and maturity changes how dramatic or world-ending something made him feel as a teenager. The fact that he got away from his father and followed his dream in the end is important, and then he eventually meets Qin Xiao again which is a W imo.
It's so funny to me how so many people are saying 'Chinese BL + Bad/Sad ending', as if there aren't plenty of BLs coming out of countries (where writers/producers have free creative run and actors careers aren't threatened by the content they act in) that have shit, ambiguous, weak or rushed endings up the wazoo 😂 I mean, just recently we had great acting and a such a good emotional and moving story in Hidamari ga Kikoeru, but it turned out that show strung viewers along for 12 eps just to deliver a conclusion of Pre-BL until the last few minutes, and Japan has no reason to hold back on their BL content, so why? It just is what it is, some endings are just meh, guys.
Was ep 12 of Blue Canvas rushed? Yep. Was the end confusing, I didn't think so. Did they end up together, yep. Was it still a better love story than Twilight? Absolutely. Imo, overall, the ending wasn't as strong as it could have been, but on the whole this BL was very well done and the ending was a W.
I don't mind chatting :) but I prefer to keep chats all about the shows, I don't share any personal info. This BL is a rare luck to get out of China, I hope we get more, they tend to do character and relationship building very excellently, even in their censored BLs.
Qi Lu wasn't in Russia for six years, the write up before the after credits reveals he only stayed in Russia for a year before he went to the USA where his mother helped him to successfully complete his studies in a different field to become a director, so he got away from his sperm donor. And unfortunately, there will most definitely not be a S02, the fact we even got one uncensored Chinese Mainland BL is quite amazing tbh.
If you're looking for another angsty but well written/acted BL, I'd recc Every You, Every Me from Thalland, it's really good.
The final ep was a bit rushed and the show for sure has some drawbacks, but over all I enjoyed Blue Canvas very…
For those confused about the after credits scene, it's a reunited scene, and we see that they appear to easily catch up (from the evening through to the next day considering the night to day transition) and then they spend the day together, QX going to watch QL work, etc and by the end of the after credit scenes they appear to ready to pick up where they left off since they hold hands and plan dinner together.
The Chinese note at the end (before the after credit scene says): Qin Xiao passed the professional examination of Huajing Academy of Fine Arts by virtue of his first place in the special recruitment examination. With the support of Teacher Liu, he completed the college entrance examination and was successfully admitted to Huajing Academy of Fine Arts. Qi Lu entered the preparatory course of Repin Academy of Fine Arts under the arrangement of his father. The next year, I independently applied for an offer from the University of Southern California in the direction of directing, and completed my studies in the United States with the help of my mother.
I wonder.... When did him and xiao get together... That the questions i want to ask the director
They were under the impression Qin Xiao was the one who sold them out to the police, because they saw him with Qi Lu who had been seen with Bai 'suspiciously' photographing their drug territory. That's why QX wanted to move to the dorms and not stay alone in either of their homes, because he knew they would possibly target and suspect him, and by extension, Qi Lu.
I knew Qi Lu would stand up to his sperm donor after the photo thing, if only the fucker wasn't holding the threat of ruining Qin Xaoi's future over his damn head he would be able to walk away from that bs altogether.
Loved the depiction of emotions in this ep, good acting, they're really stacking up the pieces for the final fall out.
Why yes, yes, I don't actually care if shit people die in fiction or real life. lol That's not about anything other than my own personal viewpoint though. Violence of any nature other than sexual doesn't bother me, that said, I didn't see SA in this. That too, is about perspective and projection imo.
Seeing those comments, I understand why people are saying: Good times create weak men. Some of you are honestly…
💯about the first part of your comment. Fadel was 100% physically, mentally and emotionally in control in that situation, every second of the way, he allowed those touches in the sauna and after, they even show him holding back from shoving Style off him twice in the locker room. There is no SA as far as I saw. But as someone else commented, the scene will hit people differently, so it seems it's not about the scene's context, it's more about each viewers personal projections.

Small note below about the after credit text and scene:
Loved the depiction of emotions in this ep, good acting, they're really stacking up the pieces for the final fall out.
One Episode Later:
Prajong: Gayly persists in watching Khwan dance and obliviously being flirtatious about it.
