I'm sorry but IMO the way Wei Zhi just sat there and let her parents (especially her mom) talk to him and treat…
Regarding your second point, it is common, but clearly, she did not agree with the norm. She may know it, but she does not want to accept it. So, to me, she was seeking more validation. It is kind of normal for one to constantly seek justification when they don't want to believe something, even if it is staring them right in the face.
Fourth - you're right, and Shan Cong definitely couldn't stand it :)

I think she asked her friend the same question some of us are asking - is it really necessary to break up? It is probably more of a rhetorical question than an actual one.
In her mind, financial status and background were not important reasons for a break up which is why she researched the topic.
I agree that the mom was the worst and behaved so badly. But why can't he distance himself from her parents but still stay wth Wei Zhi? Wei Zhi is also doing that herself, while doing her own thing.
To be honest, I think that even if Wei Zhi defended him in front of her parents, it would not have made a difference to Shan Chong. His pride and ego cannot handle it.
I can accept that choosing to separate now is what Shan Cong needed to do. However, the way he's handling it is not very fair to Wei Zhi.
Like you said, hopefully this situation won't last long! Only 5 episodes left!

I am a bit on the fence about Wei Zhi and how she tolerated her mom's behavior. There is a cultural difference when it comes to children having to be respectful and not talking back. As much as many don't like that cultural aspect, it does exist. Throughout the show, Wei Zhi clearly shows that she does not dare stand up against her mom, at least upfront.
I do agree with you that it would have been awesome if Wei Zhi did ultimately defend Shan Cong because during the show, she has shown that she's got some backbone and spirit.
She certainly did not act clueless about why Shan Cong was upset. She knew exactly why, which is why she tried to convince him that her mom shouldn't bother him. I understand why Wei Zhi is upset - if a guy wants to be with you forever, why can't he work on a better version of himself without distancing himself? Like she said, just like that, it is so easy for him to give up on being together? Maybe that's not what he meant but breaking up with her was not the solution.
A healthy relationship is when a couple grows together, while finding their own paths.
My point about how Shan Cong should not ghost her was exactly what Nan Feng said, if you want to be with her, then commit properly. How is Wei Zhi supposed to know that he wants to be with her? The way he's acting simply confirms that it is a real breakup. Dude shouldn't get upset if she does move on.
So much for the healthy relationship I was hoping for :(
I agree with Nan Feng; Shan Cong should make his intentions clear to Wei Zhi...how is ghosting her showing that he would never back out...
Since the show went full in with this trope, then I want another trope - the jealousy one that triggers Shan Cong's insecurity about Wei Zhi...But not with Jiang Yi Ming, someone hotter please..I am tired of MLs just taking off and disappearing to "better" themselves and expecting the FLs to be waiting for them.
The positive thing is that we get to see Wei Zhi really focusing on her career and finally taking down that nasty Wang guy!
I think the preview is misleading - I hope this show focuses on healthy and supportive relationships, like our main couple, and DaiDuo & Shan Shan. I won't talk about the other couple :D
I am hoping that the redemption arc for Yi Ming (I was a big critic of Version 1.0 of him) is completed by him…
I am so glad that he didn't turn out to be the clingy SML...even if the parents don't listen, it will be awesome to see him stand up and support the happiness of Wei Zhi...
I agree, the parents are going the traditional Asian route where a better future means marrying a doctor, lawyer, ...anyone with a stable and high income
People who read the novel said WZ’s mom is not super opposed to him, so we may be spared too much family drama…
That's another reason why I didn't finish FOMH - I love the pairing of Yang Yang and Dilireba too much in You Are My Glory, I needed time to get over them :D
I like the paring in Si Jin but I gotta admit, I prefer the chemistry of the leads in Are You The One :D

Thanks! Yes, I have long “Currently Watching” list 😁. I started watching Are you the One again because of the ML who’s also in Si Jin. I totally agree with you about the FL character!

Well I’ll be happy if that truly the case. This show is too sweet and fluffy to have that kind of family drama. I remember being.so annoyed that I have not finished FOMH 😁
Enjoyable, fun and light! I put this on hold for awhile because the FL character didn't appeal to me at first but the second time round, she wasn't bad at all. She became more likable as the story progressed. I am glad I gave this drama a second chance.

I don't like preview for 17 but I think the couple will stay strong together...
