For me, I also understood why they went this route. No one likes the separation trope in relationships even if…
I think even if the uncle is still around, Sang Yan and Yi Fan already have their happiness...Yi Fan finally unburdened herself completely to Sang Yan who understood her and accepted her unconditionally.
I agree, the best part of the past episodes was how they further highlighted Sang Yan's green flags...he's no simp
After rewatching ep 24, 25 and now having finished 26 and 27, I think I get what the screenwriter wanted to do...
Not only did Yi Fan want to protect the people around her, she also wanted to redo her life, and become better on her own so that she could finally feel worthy of Sang Yan. Yes, the way she did it could be better but it is the usual cliche in dramaland that the lead has to take a leave of absence to improve themselves :D
Sang Yan during that time, discovering and understanding more of Yi Fan's past, making him even more committed to loving her. Honestly, he's already so in love I don't know how much more he could fall but that's ok...I am always up for seeing more of Sang Yan's amazingness.
Hong Kong was a detour but it was not too bad...at least we get to hear Sang Yan utters those 3 words to Yi Fan...
Lately, we don't hear those words often in the dramas, usually it's "wo xi huan ni"...so when Sang Yan said the other phrase, it was lovely to hear...
I hope so 😭, she should feel safe around them and see how much she is loved.
Maybe the screenwriter wanted YiFan's HK arc to let her get stronger with the support of the new characters but I wish she could have realized that and was already strong before Hong Kong...
I wish YiFan could truly see the support system that surrounds her—the comforting presence of Sang Yan, the loyalty of Qiao Qiao, and the warmth of Qiao Qiao's family, her other friends and colleagues.
It’s heartbreaking to think about. As Sang Yan said, how immense must her pain be to make her believe she must bear the weight of it all alone?
I am rewatching ep 25 before the next two, don't ask me why... but the show did a good job juxtaposing scenes of them being alone...showing how miserable our couple was being apart
I also wouldn't mind if they do have another one!

"Love, Love, Love, is right in front of me."
And when I see Suye, the song playing is:
"What a man, what a man, what a man
What a mighty good man (Gotta say it again now)"
