He did the same with The Long Ballad too, made the ending a bit open ended imo.
Either it was truly a mistake of bad editing or ZRB, the director decided that he needed to uphold his reputation of delivering an ambiguous ending so he cut out the crucial scene. Except that it didn't have the intended effect of being open-ended and instead made the scenes choppy :D
1) When YunHe gazed down at frozen ChangYi asking him to tell her his dreams when she gotback, with tears running…
Not exactly the same thing. At least in TBW, there is a clear happy ending and I think it was bad editing that left out a crucial scene that caused the ending to be choppy. In The Long Ballad, the main couple was not even in the same scene! I was definitely left unsatisfied.
1) When YunHe gazed down at frozen ChangYi asking him to tell her his dreams when she gotback, with tears running…
So so worth it! I hope that they will release an alternate ending including the cut out scene like they do with other dramas. At least, we get to see the main leads in the same scene unlike The Long Ballad :D
A continuation from my prior post about the amazing story, dialogue, acting, and music that delivered such an…
1) The whole scene between Kong Ming wailing over Luo Luo, and then Zheng Yu saving him leaving behind their childhood toy...Wang Zi Teng as Kong Ming proved that he can act
2) Arrgh, Lin Hao Qing's indirect confession to YunHe as he "died" on her sword...how can one man still look so fine with red veins all over his face...and all the flashbacks...and of course the most romantic music ever playing in the background plus it was now LHQ's turn to fall off the cliff :D
3) Towards the end, Christy Guo stayed amazingly maniacally in character as Shunde!
3) YunHe's certainty in both of them, how certain she was that this time, there was no need to hide, no matter what they will encounter in the future, they will be able to face it together. I felt her faith even though I was crying. Then ChangYi's beautiful teary face, followed by the signature tender pearl transfer kiss, with of course the song #如你所想 (As You Wish) that starts with "Hey" playing. Then their beautiful words of promises to each other...By then, I was bawling away
4) From the viewpoint of someone who read the novel, I am happy that they did not kill off TianJun, and instead have his character play an important role in getting rid of Shunde.
5) Happy ending for almost everyone - with some people getting revived or didn't die, - Li Shu, being a Lu Wu descendant with 9 lives was again able to return to San Yue. Their "reunion" was sweet... - Even Fei Lian and Lei Zhi (the two deities who always accompanied Tian Jun) were able to come back - Luo luo who didn't die in the first place. She and Kong Ming also provided some comic relief for the audience as well - Lin Hao Qing who didn't really die. Just disappeared into depths of the cliff. If ChangYi can survive, I guess LHQ can too. Haha! - LHQ who found his true self and freedom finally (a little tropey how he ended up like his father in a wheelchair and SiYu pushing him like QingShu used to do for Lin Can Lang).
6) The ending - well I felt that it was choppy and glossed over but the dialogue between ChangYi and YunHe was lovely. I do believe that it was a REAL happy ending even without having read the spoilers. It was really just bad editing. Unfortunately I cannot give Part 2 a perfect 10 but in general this was one of the best shows ever for me!
A continuation from my prior post about the amazing story, dialogue, acting, and music that delivered such an emotionally touching rollercoaster ride for me. Now, the notable scenes from episode 42:
While recent focus is mostly on the ending, I just want to comment on the amazing story, dialogue, acting, and…
1) When YunHe gazed down at frozen ChangYi asking him to tell her his dreams when she gotback, with tears running down her face, and when she walked away from her friends, her face crumbling - Dilraba has never failed in delivering the right emotions
2) Again when YunHe tried to smile through her sadness but her eyes gave it away, and LiShu telling her not to force it and that she looked worse smiling than crying - Dilraba is just that good...again being able to emote so well.
3) Again Reba's great acting when she looked like she was really being strangled :D
4) When SanYue told LiShu that he was right - when the two people just reunited, only to experience life and death again , it was really too cruel for them, and LiShu agreed, saying how can CY and YH bear to make such a decision as he frowned back at SanYue, knowing that the same thing will happen to them.
5) ShunDe's absolute evilness turning LHQ and the WanHua Valley folks, as well as the Palace disciples into puppets. Cristy Guo is such a great actress - she really made my blood boil with just her expressions alone!
6) Very effective background music (new pieces as well as familiar ones) - I felt my tension building when the TianJun was going to fix the lantern, - I even started crying when the two immortal deities Fei Lian and Lei Zhi joked together as they prepare to sacrifice themselves to fix the lantern while the young TianJun teared up, telling them not to do it... - When LiShu was talking to his grandfather asking about the Thunder River and Sky Fire... I really like the music! - When LiShu released the SkyFire and when the battle started...the music is very John Woo-like... - Song of the woman humming when San Yue saw LiSHu evaporate...
Of course whenever the song #如你所想 (As You Wish) that starts with "Hey..." played, my tears started again...
7) Great choreography - when ChangYi came flying in and so smoothly swept YunHe into his arms...I am like Yeessssss! Other plus points during this scene: a) ChangYi's face - ah lovely beautiful ChangYi - staring at her so intensely! b) Another variation of the opening song - a more jubilant version - love it!

He deserved to at least hear personally from Aji/Yunhe about her happy day if not get an invitation and definitely…
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Both Chang Yi and YunHe know about what he has done for her and them, but they did not issue him an invite. I felt so bad for him!
There are definitely editing issues but I really enjoy the dialogue. It is very sophisticated. Even the way Qiwu…
I think overall the show is well done but if compared to another show that you and I are watching, the fighting and flying moves are not as good. They are good but the other show is better
Exactly! This is my first Allen drama and now I’m watching One and Only because I like how he looks in period times 😁 Reba really makes everyone around her shines!
