The niece character just didn’t work — both the role and the acting were distracting. And honestly, the unnecessary conflict in the final episode? Totally uncalled for. Why do writers always think a last-minute dose of angst makes things more emotional? Sometimes we just want to stay in the cozy, heart-warming vibe! Still, it’s a lovely, fuzzy watch that leaves you feeling content — definitely one I’d recommend for a quiet evening.

I didn't get the impression that it was to get the antidote that was one of his motivation but I could have missed something. It seemed like he was more driven by his desire to get the throne.

That's true - he's truly the one who's oblivious to the evil deeds of those two. I wonder though if he knew what was going on, would he go along with them and betray YiXiao or would he resist and be killed? I guess we will never know :D

Me too! But someone else said that in the novel, she was also overly kind and devoted to the FL. I guess since the drama didn't really develop that relationship well, she comes off being very sus!
