I felt the same about ep 18. It didn't have the energy of previous episodes. I hope there's a bit more time spent…
You're spot on - Ep 18 felt kind of rushed (even for a mini drama). We definitely see progress between the leads, but I am still guessing about the FL's true feelings. Up to now, she seems very much in control of the chessboard, and everyone is a pawn, including the ML.
After the cliffhanger in ep 17, the outcome feels kind of anticlimactic but not much can be packed into 15 mins. Ep 18 was still satisfying with another villain taken down! FL's painting is becoming full of flowers!
This one was a good one. The writing was great, the acting hit all the right notes, and that slow-burn romance between the leads? Absolutely delicious — the kind that had me smiling and rooting for them to get together sooner. The costumes were gorgeous, the whole cast was good-looking, and okay, I have to say it — the ML’s visuals made the experience so much better. My god, that man is stunning. Think Xu Kai meets Allen Ren…
I’ve found that mini-dramas often make very enjoyable Republican-era shows. They cut right to the chase, keep the plot tight, and still manage to capture all the atmosphere and tension of the period — without dragging things out.
I hope that what happened in episode 17 was part of her plan. We could also see that the ML is finally starting…
That’s good point — he’s only truly valuable if he can hold on to his power. And yes! That’s exactly what I love about this FL — when she commits, she really commits and dives in headfirst.

I got the impression that it was all part of her plan to win him over completely. Kind of like lose this battle but win the war. So I got a feeling that she will suffer a bit but hopefully will have a way out in the end.

I hope so too. Sometimes she did rely on Lady Luck, so I hope this time she has a backup plan. Yes! The ML is starting to waver and, despite all his advisor's efforts, is following his heart.
I just staeted ep 6 but yeah I expected that if the FL were going to have entanglements with the other men mentioned in the synopsis. I know it sounds terrible but I prefer her being widowed than him leaving her or vice versa.
I’m genuinely glad Shao Hao made the choice she did in episode 3 — it felt right for her. But I’m conflicted about Da Shun’s decision. He’s a good man, no doubt, but if I were in Shao Hao’s shoes, I’d want the man who proclaimed me the love of his life to fight for me just a little harder.
Overall, I love watching how supportive he is of Shao Hua and he got his own ways to help his beloved wife.
I can completely understand why the FL is so determined to keep her true identity hidden. At this point, she has no way of knowing who is genuinely on her side—if anyone is at all. Even the ML has yet to reveal his true feelings about Shen Yu Qing, leaving her with little reason to trust.
If I were in her place, I would do exactly the same—stay in character, keep up the façade, and play my role until I achieve my goal and find my son.
Ok ending but I felt the villain could be punished more for all that they did. Overall not a show I would recommend unless you’re ok with being annoyed for the first 3/4 of it.
Hi, glad you are also enjoying this. Thought the latest ep is till ep13? Are there express? I am just dragging…
Haha- yeah I was confused 😁 I do like the FL in this drama. She’s new but actually quite good! I don’t really have an impression of Julia Xiang but I do like the ML in WD so I’m going to watch for him 😊

Hello! At least on Tencent/weTV there is express up to ep 15. Yeah, agree that the mini dramas should release more episodes at once but I guess then they finish too quickly and don’t make enough money from the express release I guess 😁 I have the Wanted Detective on my list. Since you mentioned that the FL is not bad, I think I will start it sooner!
A nice, easy watch. Taiwanese dramas have their own distinct flavor, often an acquired taste, which probably explains the lower ratings.
Both the ML and SML were a pleasure to watch — gorgeous on screen and strong in their performances. It’s a shame they seem to have disappeared from the international scene after Covid. Puff Kuo was convincing as an athlete, though her character’s ending felt a bit too neat and less believable.
Romance-wise, it was enjoyable, though I would have liked to see a few more warm, intimate moments between the leads. The second couple’s arc dragged at times, mostly because of the SFL’s hesitation, but they still brought some charm and humor to the series. Desmond’s yearning looks more than made up for the slower parts.
This wasn’t too bad. Good filler show - filled with supernatural themes but passed off as “human” events. I found the cases interesting but sadly tragic. It’s the tie back to the mastermind and grand scheme that seemed weak. Typical wuxia ending.
Started yesterday and already binged straight through to episode 15 — even splurged on the special express, which says a lot about how hooked I am.
The plot is tight and gripping, but it’s the female lead who’s really stealing the show. She’s laser-focused on her revenge, so much so that even the male lead sometimes feels like just another piece on her chessboard. What I love is that she isn’t wrapped in impenetrable plot armor — she takes hits, she suffers, and sometimes her schemes nearly backfire. But when her gambles pay off, it’s so satisfying to watch.
