Maybe I’m biased but I’m totally team Nan Heng. The poor guy can’t catch a break with everyone misunderstanding him or are afraid of him. I cannot wait for the FL to finally realize his good points!
LYN got another great role! He’s so versatile and it’s obvious that he’s getting even better each time! LYT is excellent as well! They both are so good together. I think I might get second lead syndrome - WYS is just so attractive!
Ep 10 messed me up…all the positivity right before the ending! I actually think the issue is not that big because it was already an existing problem but it seems the writers are determined to make a big deal out of it. Why the melodrama when the show is almost ending 😢
Episode 9 hit all the right emotional notes. Ho-Su and Mi-Ji were the bright spots as usual with their adorably awkward dynamic—though there was one moment where Ho-Su was surprisingly smooth 🥰. The episode ended on a hopeful note for Mi-Rae, and now I can’t wait for Se-Jin to finally make it to Seoul!
The final four episodes were excellent. Yes, they were chaotic and a bit rushed at times, but overall, the show took familiar xianxia tropes and delivered something refreshing and entertaining.
I especially appreciated the twist in the second couple’s storyline and the villain’s unexpected redemption. Rather than the typical unhinged antagonist bent on ruling all realms, we saw a more nuanced character who recognized the futility of going on once he did not achieve his goal.
Sure, there was collateral damage that added to the angst—but it’s xianxia, after all. I’m just glad we got the ending we did—it was satisfying.
The acting was top-notch, particularly from Bailu and ZSX. ZSX especially stood out with his ability to shift effortlessly between an innocent, childlike charm and a dignified, godlike presence.
Interesting concept and the ML pulled off his two roles well. I was not won over by the FL’s character and found the romance somewhat weak. I got tired of her in the middle and watched some episodes in 2x speed. Overall, it’s still a decent watch but I probably won’t rewatch.
The humor is so on point amidst the angst. As much as most of us hate the usual tropes in xianxia, everyone found current BJS too adorable including HRY. Long Yuan’s horrified reaction was priceless 🤣 The love square not that interesting though. No second lead syndrome here and Ling’er could do better…
Finishing up ep 23. I was kind of shipping Lu Huan (Shawn Dou’s character) with Amita , hoping they would collaborate in Chang’an but I guess he’s taken. Oh well… Funny scene at the Disbursement office where everyone knew of Li Shande’s unfortunate assignment….” I am the kind to set traps and I didn’t think a trap like that could be set…” Don’t you have a single trustworthy colleague…?” 🥲 poor Li Shande
To be such a weasel. OMG brilliant but completely despicable.
I just caught up to ep 20 and now I know what you meant. Looks like he’s not on anyone’s side but himself. He’s despicable! The whole fight scene between He Ypu Guang and Amita, and him cowering in the corner and then pretending to be a hero 😡
So true! I wish LY got a heavier punishment though. Even though he didn’t kill Jing Yang, he did hurt her and even told everyone not to say she was ever there.
Thai dramas are always rated lower on MDL but this one is way too underrated. Short but each story was impactful and resonated well. Production quality was good and I’ve come to expect that from dramas on Netflix. Overall, this was a great watch!
