Oh no, don't quit. Many of the endings are not explicit. They may seem as open endings but not really so if you…
You've been trained well, especially during L&R. Nothing beats that in terms of angst levels, Master Shifu :D

But yeah, if this ends in open or sad ending, I'll switch back to k-dramas until further notice :O

I think the original novel is unfinished? Or if it is... the ending certainly felt abrupt... and i'm pretty sure…
I see. Ok, I'll go check it out. Thanks for the rec!

everyones talking abt how xj "needs to suffer" even though shes been constantly emotionally abused/manipulated…
I just don't want to see ANYONE suffer. There has to be limits. And not just the main couple. CLL and ZML are also suffering the effects of PTSD. There has to be a balance between suffering and happiness, but right now it's totally lopsided.

MDL has GOT to start having credits for the voice actors!!! Who does the voice of XJ? p.s. I know it was answered…
Exactly! Everyone obsesses over his facial expressions but the voice is equally important. Imagine if he had a squeaky or high pitched voice, the impact would be totally different.

Of course they have to make SF suffer as much as possible (almost in every episode) so that when the catharsis…
Yes, I hope the catharsis does indeed arrive. If not, we're all doomed (both our hearts and souls split from our mortal bodies and sealed in drama land forever lol)

XJ taught SF the meaning of high maintenance girlfriend :/

Fortunately we have MDL. Once this drama ends in a couple of days' time, we should form emotional support groups. I certainly need it right now lol

Hahaha! Well, Prince Peng Cheng and Shen Lige didn't have that creepy Hao Chen coming between them :D
Even after destroying my cactus, the bleeding on my forehead is not even 1% of the total blood vomited by SF to-date :/

It does make sense. If this was on iQiyi or Tencent / Wetv, perhaps the viewership would be higher especially among international audience. There are many who might prefer to binge once all the episodes are made available, rather than wait patiently every week.

Abruptly good or abruptly bad? At this point, I'll take anything remotely good.

From what I'm witnessing so far in this episode, those 2 are doing a fine job of hurting themselves without HC having to do much lol
It's so damn frustrating!!

Yup true. I think 9 on MDL is pretty good at the moment, considering it's still airing.

Oh ok, so it's like True Detective in that every season is a completely different story with brand new cast. I didn't realise Martin Freeman was in Fargo. Now I'm really curious. Will have to scour around for it if it's not on Netflix.

Yup, correct. I had the impression that the subber was possibly Malaysian / Singaporean lol

Hehe ok, I'll try to look for Fargo the series, hopefully it's on Netflix. Angelababy doesn't quite have the same range as NiNi and Li Bingbing, even though they're all of the same generation of actresses. Ok, I'll skip Crimson River. There's another one, Kidnapping Game which is the first one in the series, I saw that on iQiyi.

I watched Fargo the movie but not the series. The Closer was quite some time ago, I might have watched a few episodes. The Chinese version is the Light On series, right. I tried to watch The Bad Kids but put it on hold for now. It looks really good like an award winning potential, but it feels heavy on the realistic side at the moment.
I might give Crimson River and Sisyphus a try later on. I've been meaning to watch Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower. Was quite taken by the intriguing trailer and synopsis, plus I quite like Yang Zi Shan since I last saw her in So Young, which was one of the rare occasions I watched slice of life stuff, but it was Zhao Wei's directorial debut so had to give that a shot lol

Oh yes, Martin Freeman! I really like him especially in comedic roles. I'm a fan of Jude Law in more serious roles. Robert Downey Jr and Jude make a fantastic team. The movie series was quite nicely done and had a great cast with Rachel McAdams and Kelly Reilly (not a major role but I liked her in Pride and Prejudice).
The interesting thing is both Rachel and Kelly reunited in True Detective years later. But I didn't really enjoy that version, preferred the first one with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Can't believe we're talking about western detective shows on Maiden Holmes but I guess it's rather fitting lol
