Looks like a good book, thanks for the recommendation!
Totally agree, he is such a talented actor and the show had so much potential. It was still good overall and as…
Yes, in a way this is a fitting end and I guess Jiang Shou finally found peace (in his mental state) and evil did not take over his consciousness to wreak havoc on the world. I'll take that as a win! :)
Yes pop off with the review! Good insight, and pretty much spot on the entire way. I just wished that they gave…
Totally agree, he is such a talented actor and the show had so much potential. It was still good overall and as you mentioned, Neo's story arc could've had less of those scenes. I honestly don't think there'll be a second season, because I'm not sure how they could expand further on the story, but I haven't read the novel so maybe...
Totally understand your concern. If you dislike the FL, it'll be quite challenging to watch on because this drama…
I know what you mean. I enjoyed Rise of Phoenix but yes, the politics was very heavy. I skipped Royal Nirvana and a few others, I think Story of Ming Lan and Ming Dynasty also - too dry and slow, I agree. Hopefully Legend of Fei will be exciting - I'm actually really looking forward to it after seeing the trailers.
Thanks for your review on this drama as I have completed watching it. As you have commented this drama is quite…
You're most welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed the show as much as I did and that my review did help out :) I do agree about Merxat - I want to see him play the lead in his new projects too.
Just wonder if this drama is really really worth watching 'coz it has total of 53 episodes which is long. Tbh…
Totally understand your concern. If you dislike the FL, it'll be quite challenging to watch on because this drama is largely character driven. But if your dislike is because of certain dramas eg The Wolf, her role here is a lot different (from what I understand from others because I haven't finished watching The Wolf) in that she is more assertive here and not as weak or fragile.
As for the court conflicts, this drama is not the typical palace-setting melodrama - there is no harem conflict, the politics plays out in both the palace (which looks different from normal palace settings), sword fights and battlefields, a major portion of the angst is provided internally within FL's family in addition to the political factions. I didn't feel it was dry or draggy, but more like the pain persisted and the painkiller took a bit longer to work.
BUT, one of the major gripes I had were that the good guys took way too many hits, some of which were severely major so that put off many viewers. The biggest complaint I have is the ending. I won't spoil it for you and I'm sure you have read the differing opinions in other reviews but for me, I didn't like it at all.
If you do decide to give this a go, I'd advise caution. Hope my feedback helps :)
Yes, that's a great idea. I love it here, let's not move!
Yup, this version of Lv Bu Wei is the most unique to date, I've never seen him depicted this way.
The character Ying Zheng.... I can't understand for a big budget drama, they're getting a 40 year old to play a 13, 15 year old... I just cannot... But regardless of the age, this character is seriously overshadowed in the show. The other Princes / Kings are more interesting to watch. A bit of inconsistent writing there, it's true.

Yes, like I mentioned to @Skibbies and you are right, those two characters are making the show. I don't feel any attachment to the other characters so far, even Ying Zheng. I like both characters, very multifaceted with their strengths and limitations. Their scenes together is almost like watching Robert De Niro and Al Pacino facing off in Heat. I really appreciate the verbal exchanges between the two.

Well, as far as history goes, they're all brilliant multi dimensional characters lol No one is truly blameless, they each have their own merits and faults, and largely pursued their respective agendas using their methods. I guess there are many versions of the story and how they're portrayed, but so far from this drama I'm more interested in only 2 characters - Lv Bu Wei and Li Si. Ying Zheng, ok see how it goes later. The others, I don't feel any attachment to them.

Well done :) Looks like it's going to be a busy end of the year...for drama watching! I've only reached up to ep24 but I gotta say, as much as I enjoy watching Lv Bu Wei, I'm firmly on team Li Si atm. I find Li Nai Wen's portrayal to be very compelling. He steals every scene he's in...
No... really??? Thankfully I didn't start anything else...
Apparently it's true. After seeing the multiple postings on feeds and the comments on the page, I checked WeTV and it states the premiere date as tomorrow! I haven't even watched The Wolf and all my fav detective genre shows, and now this!!! Merry Christmas, sis XD
So binged this whole series over a Friday and Saturday night (yes no sleep for me! Lol) and agree at about ep…
Hehe, so you've not got over CZY lol. Yes, Zhao Ge is a big production and I've been waiting for the longest time for it! I wonder if it'll suddenly get released altogether like The Wolf. Winner is King is also highly anticipated and I hope it gets released next year. You might be interested to see ZZH (if you didn't get enough of him in the 4 episode fan service modern world Blooms) in Everyone Wants to Meet You which aired earlier this year. I saw a couple of episodes and seeing ZZH in a totally different light.
Wang You Shuo, the actor who played WBQ is really impressive. I first saw him in Young Blood and his character there is unlike the two that you've seen - uber cool and sophisticated. Very versatile indeed.
Enjoy Class of Her Own - it's hilarious and there are a few massive potential SLS there lol

Yes, I agree. Blooms is compensating for the lack of "sweetness" in LoYX. Even Zhang Zhe Han is more adorable here than he was as Long Fei Ye, which enhances the romance with JJY a bit more and it's great to see. What LoYX does have more, in the romantic sense, is the SLS. Many viewers were rooting for Merxat back then lol
Maybe I could recommend a few shows to take away some of the sadness. If you're a fan of ancient romance, you could try In a Class of Her Own (with JJY too), Love and Redemption, Miss Truth, The Moon Brightens for You, Jiu Liu Overlord, Twisted Fate of Love, and Young Blood (a bit of romance but lots of friendship). There are some interesting modern romance too like Forever Love (I haven't seen this but the trailer looks really good and the synopsis sounds interesting), Dating in the Kitchen, Something Just Like This, Centimeter of Love (although this one has some toxic family sub-plots), and You Complete Me (very interesting premise about the business world similar to Love is Sweet).
There's no reason Lao Ai would get this much time, *complains loudly over and over again* He's not Lv Buwei, I'd…
Same here, these days I'm reduced to watching movies on Netflix and iQiyi (which has a lot of made-for-tv movies) but probably have to "deep dive into the dark web" for the latest good ones lol He was amazing in Red Cliff, the portrayal of a young king...

Be thankful, I shouldn't complain lol
