Great review! Really enjoyed reading it :) Although I didn't/ haven't (undecided on this) complete this show, it's already very plain to see at the outset Charmaine tops Tiffany in terms of performance. Since her TVB days, Story of Yanxi and now this, I think she has a knack for this sort of role, and it's a pity she wasn't the lead here. I also like your perspective on how the liberated Khitan women had to be reined in as a result of the Han reforms. Irony indeed...
Watched the trailer and the FL gave me Li Qin vibes from The Song of Glory. I’m intrigued. Also isn’t the…
Yes, you are correct. The FL fights like Shen Lige. And the guy looks evil. He's probably the first ML who looks seriously evil. Maybe that's why the FL looks like an angel, to balance it out.
Oh.... but Jin Han is sooooo much more delicious as a baddie!!!
Totally unrelated but hop on over to Psyche-Hunter which just aired. Very interesting mystery-investigation plot. Can't believe Republican dramas are ending the year strongly, this is the 3rd one I'm having fun watching xD
1 episode in and I'm not sure what exactly I've just watched... but I'm really intrigued! This has been surreal and unpredictable so far, it's piqued my curiosity...
Nice article! Thank you so much for this :) The families you highlighted are definitely more pleasant and fun compared to the royal families in C-drama historicals who are way more dysfunctional, devious and murderous even among themselves xD
International release as well? I don’t see it on my side... is it geo-restricted?
It could possibly be weeks, even months. It's not hard for them to put it up on the platforms, but it's the subbing part that may take time. Hopefully they'll be ready sooner rather than later.

I really feel you. Anyway, after being excited for a couple of hours, reality hits lol Back to my usual watch list, I guess if we could wait 3 years for this, a couple more weeks/ months wouldn't hurt :)

Not released (or even subbed) yet for international iQiyi and WeTV. It's only been released in China *sigh* By the time it does get released, this comments section would've been inundated with unmarked spoilers :/
The ending theme is performed by Wang Ye, called Let Her Go (放了她)
