Hahaha! I remember seeing Su Wang doing the same thing asking bystanders whether they have seen a waist-height…
I'm with you on this. I don't really care about the politics or propaganda - heck everybody does it, even Hollywood - as long as it's a well made production, I'm all for it.

You're not a fan of Untamed? Fair enough, I almost dropped it at ep 1 when I first saw it but I'm glad I didn't - it was one of the most surreal viewing experience I've ever had. This is the kind of show that you must binge or watch continuously, without gaps (eg Qing Qing Zi Jin, the gap totally destroyed the momentum).

Winter Begonia I haven't watched, although I'm a Huang Xiaoming fan. The last time I watched something really similar was Chen Kaige's Farewell My Concubine with Leslie Cheung. Took me a while to get over that...maybe that's why I was hesitant to start WB.

ZHAO GE!!! OMG!!! 5 out of the 6 main leads I really dig, with ZZH and WJY as the ML and FL. But most importantly, the screenwriter is Yu Zheng! He wrote the script for Winter Begonia too. I really hope it comes out and doesn't get episode cuts. It's been a few years in the waiting...

Good point. Republican era dramas aren't as popular internationally to begin with, and on the YT channel, only auto translate is available lol. Oh well, small mercies. At least Detective is finally out on the official platform.
You're right, thanks for the reminder. I recall now a whole host of BL-themed productions have been lined up for next year. Could we see a worthy successor to The Untamed? Hmmm.... xD

I'm watching XC on WeTV, up to 15 so far. FW is on Tencent YT, not sure why it isn't on WeTV since they're both owned by the same company.
I'll probably continue again over the weekend. For now, wanted a bit of variety from historicals and palace politics. Looking at the upcoming list, I think the epic wuxias and xianxias will only get shown on 2021, so XC is probably the last one for the year.

40 episodes later, I can say that no scene made me laugher harder than the one in the very first episode when…
You are totally right. That is the only scene that gave me a heart attack yet made me laugh out loud. Truly a wtf cinematic moment lol

I'm putting Legend of Xiao Chuo on hold, indefinitely. Need to take a breather from (angsty) historicals and watch contemporary stuff for a change. Yes, will binge on Detective first since all eps are out. FW is on YT, so will wait for more eps later on to binge on.

Lol, just a tiny bit better...
I've watched ep 1 of Fearless Whispers and I gotta say, I'm hooked! I can't believe I'm watching Qing/ Republican dramas that I actually enjoy!!

Haha, omg, even in my part of the world we felt the drama unfolding. At least there's no screenwriters to blame xD

Now that the election is over, welcome back! :)
On Fearless Whispers Nov 18, 2020
1 episode in and I'm hooked! This is surprisingly good stuff! I can't believe it but this makes it 2 really good dramas that I'm currently watching, based on an era that I absolutely dislike. Wow.

Hopefully we'll see some character development from him though :E
Hopefully he grows up and reduces the angst for us.

Title The Centimeter of Love Spoiler
Yes, agree. I wished the show would just cut the family part and focus on the leads and their careers :/
I totally feel you. I'm going to give it a few more episodes. Worst case, I'll have to skip their entire scenes. I quite enjoy watching the leads in action, it's refreshing. But the FL's family..... darn it, they ruin the experience for me.

Same - i'm not feeling the brother. If he's considered the 2ML or the second couple - I'm in trouble lol.
Oh dear, looks like we'll both get into trouble here :P

Wow, those parents are A LOT! I can already tell that they will be the biggest source of angst in this show.

Hopefully the adaptation and writing will be better this time lol *fingers crossed*
