Yes, I agree. That story is driven more by the ML and I wished there was more development with the FL, but for a change I'm thankful she didn't torment me with stupidity or brashness, and even with limited screen time she was pretty badass and strong.
I had high hopes for Shen Lige in Song of Glory as well but again, consistency was an issue. While the character started off strong, towards the end that strength gradually waned.
Let me know if you come across any good, normal FLs. I'd be grateful for some pleasant surprises in C-dramas which have been sorely lacking.

I did drop a few shows recently, still waiting for that epic historical to catch my attention since L&R ended.

This makes it even more confusing... Astro usually is very slow, which is why I'm also following the international version but now it seems like I'll have to re-watch certain episodes.
I haven't caught up to ep 16 yet, still a long way to go for me as I'm always playing catch up lol.

So I've just checked and yes, your friend is correct - that additional scene is on Astro, about nearly 2 minutes' long.
I don't understand why that footage is edited out from the iQiyi version, it looks really significant :/

I've been asking myself that same question for years so I totally feel you. Normal FLs are hard to come by but the ones I've come across at least more recently would be in Ancient Detective, Candle in the Tomb, The Advisor's Alliance, Growling Tiger Roaring Dragon, and The Rise of Phoenixes. There are probably some others but usually the character isn't written to be consistently normal (prone to severe lapses of judgments).

If this is indeed the case, I'll have to see what this missing dream sequence is about.

Astro airs directly content from iQiyi (via a syndication deal between the 2 parties) so that means everyone should be seeing the same version, unless there are different versions of iQiyi or viewers are watching from another source.

So far I'm enjoying the show and can't tell any editing issues. Hopefully it stays this way.

It's not exactly the same though, with some key differences. There's no angsty Empress here (yet) but instead you get the bratty Princess. Oh, and there's no Merxat here. But I do think there's way more characters/ guys here. I don't recall feeling so confused with names and faces (even masked ones) in LoY. Thank goodness for the character chart, this show really needs one!

Yup it's super hilarious. The old man reminds me of Teng She, a nice comic relief in the plot.
