Maaan 2020 just ain't the year for Chinese historical dramas FFS
It's mainly because of the new industry regulations for less episodes in historicals. Having said that though, 40 episodes seem about right for a story of this nature.

I really enjoyed many of such moments throughout 31-32. The quiet moments, meaningful conversations and deep reflections. They finally develop the true hubby-wife relationship.

The drama is Ancient Detective. It's a wuxia C-drama about investigations and solving mysteries. I find it quite good :)
