Oh no! I'm fine, sweetie! A Learning Disorder is just a term that collects together any number of specific kinds of cognitive difficulties in one or more areas of learning. We're often times very smart, but some of us have problems interpreting or relating language in written form. Sometimes we have difficulty telling right from left. Sometimes we reverse letters, words, or numbers. Sometimes we have so much difficulty processing written information that we require it to be converted to auditory information.

Mine manifests as me putting words, numbers and letters in the wrong order. I have someone who checks phone numbers for me because I am unable to record phone numbers correctly. And it's often the reason I end up editing my posts for several minutes after they were initially made. And I have trouble recognizing patterns that are too similar, or identifying grouped same symbols.

But as you can tell, I manage just fine. I've learned to have something of a rotten sense of humor about it though. Which is how I ended up commenting on your username. LOL.

So true. And that’s also why I can’t stand those characters who stalk the couples in dramas. Following them…
Yes! I got into a big dust up on Youtube with a group of them who were harassing an actor because he refused to talk about his sex life and was "rude" about it. And I was like, "Why is who and how and even if he fucks, any of your business?"

The answer was that acting in a BL meant the actor was agreeing to be treated this way. Which is just gross. And... I see it too much.

Oh, I am so glad you posted! You bring good points to the table in that there is a benefit to hetero culture in telling gay stories that can reach them.

But I will also point out that you are something of a unicorn.. In that you are lovely and rare. Because for every woman like you who found and accepted gayness in the world through Boy's Love stories, there are mountains of them that actually are antagonistic to gayness in real form and only want spoon fed their favorite fetishes portrayed with straight passing actors and no real gay culture.

So it's a complex problem And I won't pretend I have the answer. But I do know I am holding the fans as responsible for their misconduct in the fanservice and fujoshi mechanism as I hold the BL industry itself.

Okay, this is a GREAT question! I'm so glad you noticed it in dialog. Translations vary in quality, as well all…
Thank you for the clarification on that idiom. I have only ever seen it translated as drinking vinegar. And I wonder why that is. How peculiar. That may be another one of those instances where the cultural nuance was chipped off. Which is sad.

And I had only seen the third person usages in historical dramas. But I watch far more historical dramas than modern ones and so was uncomfortable claiming it was absolutely exclusive to historical dramas because I don't watch enough modern dramas to know for sure. Thank you for the clarification on that as well!!!

I agree with that to some degree. That if the model were ONLY gay stories for us, then we'd be in a very different place. But it wouldn't be necessarily a better place.

See, there are Thai stories for gay audiences and there have been for a while now. They just aren't BL's and they don't have the fame and financial backing that BL's do because that niche genre has less ability to drive profit. Again, because the mass of the female BL fandom isn't interested in real gay stories. If we want BL's to become more "gay" friendly and indeed in doing so simply merge into the Thai gay media already out there, then the audience has to want that.

Ah, well I'm sorry for presuming. My bad.

I have picked up enough slacker Thai from BL's to tell what was happening most of the time. Plus, I think the presentation of the plot was clear enough in the actions to establish a simplistic narrative for those with no Thai. But yes, I hope that subtitles come out eventually. There is doubtless some stuff I absolutely missed.

I agree with just about everything you've said except the part about the houses trying to seem progressive.

I think we ended up on the wrong foot because I annoyed you by accidentally editing my post after you made your reply and because I was deeply confused about your original post's relationship to my OP. I am sorry on both accounts for any offense I've caused.

I am generally all for progressive change in Entertainment Industries. But I also know that change starts in the fanbase and moves outwards because anywhere you find money, you find a roadblock to progress that doesn't move until the money becomes contingent upon that roadblock moving.

When it comes to progress in the BL industry regarding hiring of actors, I generally try to be careful when it comes to the suggestion that "being out" is preferable to not being so. And that out gay actors should be who get hired for BL roles. And there's a real reason why in gay culture. And that is that "Out" isn't what a lot of straight people think it is. Maybe not you, but a lot of people think "Out" is this romantic freeing of who we are from cultural shackles and it should be loud and proud. But in truth, being out is as individual a state as the gay person struggling to define it. For some of us it's Cooheart wearing booty shorts on IG that barely hide his package. Which I love, BTW. For some people it's Mew Suppasit, who has said "I don't look at gender when I choose someone to love". For some of us it's just telling our spouse or sister, of circle of friends. Out is a lot of things and so I absolutely object to the idea of only choosing Out actors. Because that takes the definition out of the actor's hands and places it in the hands of the public, the hiring director, their costars. And no one should define your idea of Out, but you.

I've really enjoyed talking with you and again, I'm sorry we ended up at cross purposes there for a while.

All that you said is true. However, the fact that the BL industry is dominated by straight-identifying actors…
That's not how changes in the Entertainment industries of the world happen. They'er money machines. Money machines don't ever do anything just because someone has to. Because again, they don't give a shit about progress.

Progress happens because the fan bases becomes more woke and as a result demand more woke stories. And man, I've got to tell you, BL fandoms are some of the least woke people I've met. Present company excluded, of course.

But right now, there are too many straight women yelling "Actor X isn't an ally to the LGBT community because they got mad when we demanded for the 100th time to know if they are gay or not" When if the bitches were actually allies to the LGBT community themselves, they would not be demanding an actor out themselves if they ARE gay.

There are too many women out there going "Actor X was seen having lunch with Actor Y. TeeHee! They're such a cute couple" instead of asking production houses about the prevalence of sexual misconduct, predatory payment practices and obligatory fanservice that prop up the industry.

Too few people share your concerns and the ones that do rarely want to admit the solution starts in the fandom and spreads outwards from there.

All that you said is true. However, the fact that the BL industry is dominated by straight-identifying actors…
A bit more on the issue. And I've stuck both posts behind a spoiler tag just because they're dead long.

BL isn't really about gay representation anyway. The BL fanbase is, by and large, straight women who fetishize gayness. Most straight women don't know what actual gay stories about real gayness are like and even if they did, many of them would not want to see that in BL's because there is a shockingly strong contingent of homophobes in BL fandoms. Which is actually why you don't often see fem gays or more varied representation of gay people and themes outside of the "straight passing" gay characters. They production houses are literally providing what the fanbase wants. This MDL page for KinnPorsche is a good example. There were a number of posters here lauding how masculine and manly Kinn and Porsche and the other characters were. They want the straight passing male characters.

Likewise we can look at Wayu in Gen Y, whom Western fangirls especially, rejected for being "too girly", too feminine. One notable poster actually said "If he's so sad all the time he needs meds to get him off his period". Because wow. In the end, women really are better than men at almost everything on Earth, including the denigration of their own gender.

So while yes, I wholeheartedly agree there should be reform in Entertainment industries across the board, to make them more friendly to all representations of actors--in BL specifically we may well not ever see that. Because the majority of the BL fanbase likes things just the way they are. Safe, hetero-normative (except that, you know, men are riding dicks), and not a fem gay in sight almost ever. No gay clubs. No mention of our subcultures. Rarely any of our flavor or concerns or hopes or fears beyond the barest token needed.

I often edit over the course of the first 5 minutes after posting, if I read something and feel I could have said it clearer or I said something twice in two different ways--which was the case here. Or even because my spelling is natively abysmal and I catch something terribly unreadable or grammatically incorrect. I didn't edit AFTER I read your post. I edited and did not notice until now that you had even posted a reply. I'll probably edit this one once it's up, for at least a couple of minutes. It might change in length or content a couple of times. Because I can edit my post whenever I want to.

And I'm not wrong about "out and proud". I AM out and proud, but I have plenty of friends in the LGBT+ community who CAN be out and are out to those whom they feel it is their business. But they aren't out to everyone because they simply don't think it's EVERYONE'S business. Some people are just private and there's nothing wrong with that. And in the entertainment industry I can especially sympathize with any actor of any sexual orientation who wants to keep their sexual identity to themselves because fans can be crazy AF. BL fans are a whole other level of crazy sometimes.

And the reason I asked for relevancy of your post in regards to my OP was that I misunderstood because you opened your initial answer to me with "However". So I thought you were making a counter point. If you had said "I agree with you and I also think This is a problem..." then I would have realized you were, in fact, adding to my point.

Now, as for your inquiry about my stance on the BL industry, it wasn't relevant to my original post, but sure. I never said it was all good. I never said change would not be a good thing. I was simply answering your statement. You said "*The fact that the BL industry is dominated by straight-identifying actors is an indication that as an industry it's not nearly as progressive as it wants to make it seem to be*". And I simply said I didn't feel they really cared about seeming to be progressive in the least. That isn't an endorsement of their choices or a condemnation. It's simply the observation that I don't feel BL production houses have ever felt the need to present themselves as progressive.

Ultimately BL production houses are unlikely to change practices any time soon because the model they have works. And generally when it comes to making money, you don't fix what isn't broke. They're making tons of money with little to no pressure from fans to change. So why would they?

All that you said is true. However, the fact that the BL industry is dominated by straight-identifying actors…
I've only known of one company that actually has a mission statement of representation. And that's Star Hunter Entertainment. The rest seem pretty indifferent about whether they're seen as progressive and usually don't claim to be other than entertainment industry machines. Regardless, I am confused by your post because I'm not sure how BL actors being straight-identifying or the BL industry not being progressive has anything to do with my OP.

Straight identifying, gay identifying, non identifying, none of it entitles fans to any private knowledge of the actors. Not their sexual orientation, not who they're dating. Roles should not necessarily be filled with only "out and proud" actors because "Out" is a personal thing that should have nothing to do with your career as an actor. Or any career for that matter. There may be any number of actors out there who are lgbt and don't want to share it with the public. It doesn't even mean they aren't out. There's a vast difference between being out to family/friends and out to an entire world full of freakishly obsessed fangirls.

And whether the BL industry is progressive or not doesn't really seem to me like it has any relationship to whether fanatical fujoshi are running amok, stalking down actors to reveal their private lives..

What is this one going to be about??
It's about a MD Resident (Tae's character) in his 3rd year of Residency in the ER and he gets a bunch of cases in at once and one kid dies. He keeps experiencing the day over again, ala Groundhog's Day, and eventually is informed by a supernatural being that to escape the time loop he has to save the kid who died. (Tee's character)

Triage episode 1 rocked out! I used to be a nurse and I was clocking all the things they did right (and the few things they did wrong) and was very impressed with the overall realism of the acting, props and set. Honestly, I gave up on Western medical dramas years ago because I couldn't make it through without laughing. This one paid a shocking amount of attention to detail, from the oxygem ports on the walls to the angle for trachea intubation, and I was enjoying the hell out of it. Respect.

They jumped right into it too, with Tol dying the first time just a few minutes in. The build up to subsequent replays of days and the introduction of a character I like to think of as a Sinister Morgan Freeman from Bruce Almighty, gave this a very fresh twist on the whole "Groundhog's Day" genre. And I was living it!

The plot is very layered too, with Dr Tin bouncing around a lot, experiencing different moments, eventually himself passing out from exhaustion/stress. By the end of episode 1, Dr Tin has come to realize that A) to escape the time loop he has to save Tol. And B) in order to save Tol, he's going to have to do it before Tol is ever injured in the first place.

This was so good I am on the edge of my seat waiting for next episode! Tae was very DR. He had the rhythm of an ER doctor in communication, his use of equipment was solid and pretty accurate, his fake CPR was close enough, and his emotions read so well. So convincingly. And Tee was beautiful. Except when dead, of course. This show has set a standard for me. Which I did not expect since the Director is the one responsible for Manner of Death, which had so many medical inaccuracies in it that I barely made it through any scenes involving doctors doing their jobs. So this is a complete 180 for that Director in terms of realism of execution and setting.

I recommend this drama to everyone. Literally my main two complaints were that 1) blood was too pink. When it was coagulated it looked fine. When it was smeared and dried it looked like magenta Easter egg dye. And 2) there were certain kinds of medical supplies out on shelves that are usually kept under lock and key because in these locations it's easy for a patient to walk off with these supplies. Other than that, they had me at "hello".

I have just found out that some rabid fan was following Mile around and peeping on him and his girlfriend. This is just the sort of bullshit behavior I hate in BL fans. Actors have a right to a private life and BL actors need freed from the black hole of fan service because it feeds and encourages wackos like the bitch that was stalking Mile.

BL actors don't owe us cutsie Fanservice that hints that they "Might" be actual couples. They don't owe us any fan-meet event performances "in character". They shouldn't have to field questions about their own sexual identities or their relationship status. All BL actors owe us are good performances. Their responsibility to fans ends there.
