Yall! people are allowed to have opinions as long as they aren't being disrespectful to anyone. No need to attack…
I've been cranking this out here and on the Cutie Pie page. People are allowed to post whatever their opinion on the show is. Whether you like, hate it or are indifferent, that is all perfectly okay to post here and no one should be getting their back up about it. Certainly not to the point where they're attacking anyone they don't agree with.
Wow. I apparently missed a showdown. But I'm sorry you experienced that. I've faced my share of attacks both on…
Yes, we've talked on other boards before. And thank you!
And Yeah I've run into a lot of people who want to jump on me because of my opinion. It's never right. And I'm sorry you had to experience that. You have my support if you ever need to talk, hon.
The energy of this episode was off the charts. I did like it. I feel like there are a couple of points I don't get yet, but then I suspect these are things meant to unfold along the way. So far the show has been good about continuity so I trust all will be revealed in due time. I haven't read the novel, nor do I plan to. I'm taking the show at face value and whatever context it does or doesn't offer. This week specifically I didn't necessarily get Big's motivation. But I suspect I will in coming episodes.
Tank was hilarious. Tong had me rolling the whole episode. He was why I decided to risk watching KP and it was worth that risk, just for him. Tong owns Tank's oddly fragile Diva persona like he was born to it. The 'watching porn' scene killed me. And I owe my heart to whomever is costuming Tank. Also, the partying at the bar was OTT. Tonk grinding on the bar-top will be with me until I die.
The brief action was interesting. But as a former medical professional the blood spraying everywhere when Porsche got shot in the arm cracked me up. It threw me right out of the scene. Because no. That's not how people bleed. But sure. A for effort, plus it was dramatic. But I cackled a bit. Then I was throwing popcorn again because STITCH THAT BITCH UP! Don't dab around it like you're in some Wuxia drama where the heroine scuffed her elbow! Address that shit like it's an actual injury.
And then the lovely, humanizing drama of Porsche coming to terms with the fact that he is now the monster at the door was heartbreaking and I loved it. The moment Kinn sent Porsche outside to smoke while they continued being abusive thugs inside was such a telling moment for Kinn. He is who he is, but he's also sensitive to Porsche's moral fabric. And I was intrigued to see that. And then they relate to each other on the docks over Porsche's unhappy history with collection thuggery. And it resonated okay, but I felt there were a couple of moments when Apo played it a little too close to the chest. A few moments when he could have emoted more. But Mile was acting his heart out in that whole scene.
Onto the kiss. I was surprised by the kiss because I felt the show creators hadn't done enough in the past few episodes to establish Kinn's attraction to Porsche. His thirsting over the previous 2 episodes was apparently there, but so subtle that the kiss felt like it came out of nowhere, to me.
And, I do not like drunk kisses. Porsche was too drunk to really consent. And yes, I'm sure there's maybe going to be half a dozen people read this and be ready to fire back that the kiss was consensual because Porsche was awake. I will remind these folks that drunk people who are "awake" strip in public, pee on monuments, dance on tables, have inadvisable sex with strangers, and get behind the wheels of cars, all the time. Awake does not equal conscious enough to make rational choices about consent. And Porsche was way past that point. Hell, he was barely able to walk and he half looked like he was going to fall into the water. That being said, I signed onto this show knowing consent was a big red flag all throughout the plot and as the previews and some of the spoilers from users indicate, there's more non-con ahead. So while Porsche was obviously too drunk to really consent to the kiss...it's the least of my worries at the moment.
If we look at the kiss itself, isolated a bit from context, It was a very sensual, very loaded kiss. You can tell Kinn is giving in to the moment, that interstitial space in their lives where the rules are set aside. But his kiss is exploratory enough that it's like he's searching Porsche out, and then Porsche kisses back and it was a pretty solidly acted moment.
Onto the plot...The plot moved, but not much. It feels like this episode was still more about Porsche coming to terms with his place in the organization and what that actually looks like--and less about the bigger themes. But so long as stuff moves forth from here at a good pace, I'll give them the filler episode where Porsche basically acts like a Molotov cocktail in everyone's' lives.
The production values are consistently amazing and I think at this point I won't mention them again because what can you say every week except WOW.
My favorite moment in the show was the montage of Porsche improving his bodyguard skills and shit talking Ken after beating his time out in the pool. I enjoyed the brother vibe Porsche is starting to cultivate with some of the bodyguards too. So all in all, this episode hit me in the feels enough to be a win, with a touch of action as a chaser. And this sense that Porsche is finally finding his feet in this new world. Hopefully next week we find out some about whoever it was that wanted Kinn dead this episode.
Okay so not only was i grossly invalidated about identifying with the LGBT+ community because I'm a "female",…
Wow. I apparently missed a showdown. But I'm sorry you experienced that. I've faced my share of attacks both on the comments section and behind scenes in DM's. It's never easy but I think it's better to stay than to leave.
That being said, if you feel the need to leave, that too is valid. Do whatever is best for you.
Just start part to og ep 9 and I just wondering? Is it normal to cut unpeeled hard-boiled eggs?
I howled at my television over that. I have no fucking idea what that was. Everyone, even most kids, know you peel a boiled egg to do anything with it.
I'm honestly glad to see other's point out how offputting it was that Kuea gave off child-like vibes the whole…
You nailed it!
Honestly I'm laughing at all the posts that said things like "Give it a chance, the show is only 1/4 of the way through". Then "Give it a chance, it's only half way through!" And now we're 3 episodes away from the end, the plot is in shambles and Kuea is acting like he's 12. Lian is still the weirdo villain of the piece and the overall drag of this episode was about as interesting as dried out toothpaste.
starting ep 9 god bless me for having to put up with this.ice delivery boy lian god bless him too"I've been waiting…
This episode put the nail in the coffin for me too. I told my buddies that I was watching it with that I was done. But then we talked about how to some degree watching it as a group is fun so I decided to stick it out for my friends. But wow. I am SO done with Lian's shit and the writers gradually increasing the infantilization of Kuea.
Also, I'm okay with kuea not knowing how to cook, because he has had maids his entire life, but I am drawing the…
yep. They make him able to figure out how to compose music and learn to drive a motor bike and he's in an automotive engineering course, but naw, we don't know our veggies yet.

And Mike, the episode breakdown was a stunner. Loved it.
