season 3 was cancelled babes. rejoice or cry, whatever is your preference
When I saw the jump forward at the end of season 2 and then Oh Star's statement about what Geny Y was created for, I knew season 3 had been cancelled. Gen Y as a whole project, both seasons, was training grounds for all the new babies and closure for the 2 Moons alumni. And it served its purpose. plus it gave me characters I will never stop loving.
I remember some comments on MDL warning me off the first season but I ended up watching it anyway and ended up…
For me there was a lot of good and a lot of stuff they should have done a lot better. I found the whole season worth it just because I loved seeing the characters I'd fallen in love with during season 1. And I desperately adored the ending Thanu and Wayu got. Wayu deserved that.
But there was a lot that wasn't done well and I never did understand some of those choices. the cemetery stuff stands out as the worst. But I think it was worth watching, if someone just really needed to see their fav babies on the screen again.
Unpopular opinion: this should’ve been Pha and Wayu’s redemption season- where their love overcame life’s…
I don't think it's an unpopular opinion. I'm a big Thanu/Wayu shipper, but I get why you would like Pharawee/Wayu. They had some energy between them.
As for why they brought him back, I think Pha was always meant to return, and sick at that. It was hinted early on (before he dumped Wayu) that he was absent because of a headache that wouldn't go away. At the time I didn't think much of it but when season 2 landed I was like "uh oh". So I think his return was always going to be sad. And that it was about closure for Kit and Wayu.
Those anyone know where I can read the novel. I read somewhere that Phai and Thanu were together in the novel
The original novel was never completed. So no, Thanu and Phai were never together because the story was never complete. The point at which it left off, the plot was about at the point when Thanu and Phai see each other from across the road for the first time, or there abouts. Maybe a touch later than that.
So the novel didn't even span half of what became season 1. The incomplete story was was purchased by Star Hunter Entertainment and they took over creating the story.
As for where to find it I think a completed version based on drama content filling in the rest is available, but if you want to read an English translation of the unfinished work, then try Wattapad. I don't have a link for you but I know there was a translated version up there.
In real life, it's 9 yrs. In the series, it's pretty close to that, although they never really say.
It's one of those unwholesome things sometimes that happens. Generally speaking, people in their late 20's are in a completely different place in life and have a very different level of maturity than people in their late teens. And this creates power dynamic problems, even when grooming isn't present. So yeah, Ew.
In real life, it's 9 yrs. In the series, it's pretty close to that, although they never really say.
I'm afraid I gotta debate this a bit. I feel like just because it's a common circumstance that a large age gap exists in many arranged marriages doesn't make it healthy.
I can't speak for Suibian, but for me the age gap is a problem because the issue of them being intended for marriage since they were both children. When Lian was 18 and going to college or setting upon his own adult path--Kuea was 9 or 10 years old, already being told that he's going to marry Lian one day. So lots and lots of grooming make the age gap just as creepy as some people feel it is.
Also, like I told a friend a few weeks ago, when you are 50 and your lover is only 41, it's not creepy. When you are 11 and your fiance is 20... Oh yeah. Creepy as fuck. That age gap means entirely different things when you are young than when a couple is older. It means that by the time Kuea was college age he'd grown up under the constant influence of people telling him he's Lian's intended spouse. He's been trained for the position. There is a world of difference in both maturity and in sense of self between a 19 and 28. And in combination with the years of grooming, that age gap creates a very unhealthy power dynamic.
I don't understand, what's the difference between a drama and a "Lakorn" is it the out of this world length?
The word "Lakorn" just means drama. Literally. So it doesn't get used in only one way. If you listen carefully you will hear the word applied by BL actors sometimes to describe their work. But their is also a category of drama that is also specifically called a Lakorn and has its own rules.
In real life, it's 9 yrs. In the series, it's pretty close to that, although they never really say.
That's what I was rolling with, based on the age the child actor looked who played young Lian when Kuea was a baby. 8 to 9 years, but certainly no less than 7.
So I just stumbled upon this show a couple of days ago, and I watched the first episode because, duh, Zee. And…
Zee was why I initially came, that and I'd never seen an arranged marriage BL. I don't feel New has the appeal of Saint, but he's grown on me in other ways (I tend to be weak for men who can sing). But yeah, the dynamics of the main couples in the show are fucked.
And Enchente wrecked me. I just am still reeling from episode 8. IDEFK.
Yes. Very toxic. But I've seen worse. On the Gen Y 2 Comments section they actually started harassing and threatening people behind scenes, myself included.
Now, that's not to say in the last day and a half there hasn't been some uncool stuff happening behind scenes from people here on the Cutie Pie page. Same sort of reason. There are always going to be those who don't think everyone is entitled to speak their opinions. But it's manageable.
It would all be fine if people just accepted the idea that diverse viewpoints on a show are welcome.
Low-key terrified to say anything in this comment section anymore lol. Everyone and anyone has a problem with…
Many of us don't mind at all if you like the show and post about it here. That's what the comments section is for. Whatever your views on the show, good or bad, they're very welcome here.
Oh, this show is so cute. This is my juice! Amid the mess of toxic and awful fetish trope fests I've been bumping into over the last 3 weeks, this show is a breath of fresh air!
The first ep I was lukewarm about Ram. He hit me square in the "okay" zone. But I began to genuinely like him about halfway through ep 2 and by the end of ep 3 I was hooked. He's very quietly clueless about not only other people's motivations, but his own. He's picky and pampered and a little spoilt, but still very humble in some ways. And his friendship with Sky and Titan is adorable. As is his relationship with his sister. Ram is a good guy. Just not the most emotionally adept one. And I love his almost romance with Luck. (I call Lukchub "Luck". Don't mind me)
I love the idea of TitanPang, but I'm not feeling them quite yet. Both of them have feelings for the other, but they seem to me to have zero actual chemistry. I am hoping this changes because they could be very cute.
I actually already have ghost ships in SkyTitan (and who doesn't love that ship name). Their friendship is so easy and naturally physical. I think they touched more than any two characters in the show this side of Pang and Kitty. I love how supportive they are of Ram and I'm totally into Sky getting catty online and shipping Ram and Luck.
I also am low key shipping SuperKitty (Possibly an even better ship name). They have a weirdly cute/cool dynamic. Their energy is weird, but it's solid. I know in ep 3 Pang explains that Super is straight, but they were represented awfully shippy and I am wondering if we're looking at a later couple in the drama.
I am loving all the characters, except Nam, of course. But we're meant not to like her. I do have to give them credit where credit is due. Nam is terrifying. The trope of "I want the boy but he likes this drab of a different boy. So I'm going to wreck my competition's shit!" is a staple in BL. I usually don't care for it as much as other challenges for couples in plots. But I have never seen a more psychologically unhinged villainess in a BL. This bitch is crazy. Kudos to the writer and actress on accomplishing Nam. She's a real piece of work.
Phai is going to possibly be a character I really like. I have to admit I have a soft spot for grumpy, protective friends. I don't think for a second he's actually after Luck. I think Phai is scared for Luck and so is interfering and pretending to want him in order to protect him. That's my theory anyway. I think as time unfolds in this drama we're going to find that Phai has a specific axe to grind with the Angel Gang. It's def going to get in the way of a romance with Sky, but when it finally happens, it's going to be solid gold. I can see some SkyPie (Sky and Phai) potential, but it's got a while to go.
Luck himself is so cute and so sweet and earnest. I love characters like this. They're a treat! I love him almost as much as I love Wayu from Gen Y 2. But not quite. Similar vibe, though. He's adorable. And I know many people don't care for the soft male characters, but I love every damn one of them. That he's a star cook only hits even more of my buttons. I love that his relationship with his grandmother is at the core of his sense of identity as a cook. That was just... wow. Amazing! And Mick, the actor playing Luck, has such expressive eyes it's an adventure just watching him emote that way!
The plot pace itself runs pretty good. I don't mind a slow burn, and I've seen slower. But I would not say no to this one moving just a bit faster. But as is it's just fine.
My only real complaint about the show is the environmental palette. Could we have some sets that aren't white!!! I understand it's a stylistic choice. And some white sets would punctuate moods very nicely if everything weren't pale. It gives the overall feel of the production a washed out sensation.
But that aside, I am down for every minute of this!
Ok, I'm taking a break from this one at ep. 5. The premise sounded really interesting, but the plot just does…
Contrived. I've used a lot of words to describe a lot of the components of what's wrong with this show. But Contrived is a really effective description.
I was really excited about this show when the trailer came out. IDK why it takes me forever to watch new episodes…
They are very controlling. And yes, Kuea needs to stand up to him. But he's been groomed since early childhood with the idea that Lian is meant to be his spouse and that kind of conditioning can be really hard to break.
People are going to tell you to read the book. Which means the show is lame because if you have to read the book…
Cool! I didn't mean to sound reactionary. I've had to spend a lot of time on here recently defending the right to post unfavorable opinions on Cutie Pie. It's making me cross. LOL!
And yeah, it would be nice if this one improved a lot because it has hella potential between the production values, cast and the musical interludes.
