I came to say this show is IT, and then I see it's getting some hate.I think this is the best BL airing right…
It's fine that you like it. But it's definitely toxic. And the fact that Lian loves Kuea isn't in dispute. But love doesn't matter in context of the criticism that the show is toxic. Toxicity isn't the absence of love. Many people who are abusers love the person they're abusing.
can ppl plz stop complaining about the show being lame ??? Ik it's ur opinion and ur free to express it but plz…
"Ik it's ur opinion and ur free to express it but..." There is no "but". They're our opinions and we're free to express them. Full stop.
"...I couldn't really see anyone who's reasoning was conceivable enough (as for the show being lame)" So? I fail to understand what your inability to see a point has to do with whether someone should stop expressing it. There is literally no relationship between the two.
"I've always liked lighthearted comedy shows and i believe it's thousand times better than some mature shows with cringe acting, horrible story line, and awful production." This sentence packs in the misdirection and Straw Man arguments. First, There are enormous miles of territory between "lighthearted comedy" and "mature shows with cringe acting and horrible story line and awful production". It's not a binary. Our choices aren't one or the other. And your interpretation of Cutie Pie as a lighthearted comedy is simply your take on the material. It doesn't define how anyone else should see it or discuss it here on the comments section.
Ya'll need to spend less time complaining about posters who don't share your opinions and more time discussing what about the show YOU like.
No there was no assault. In the novel, Toh purposely made himself drunk so that Nuea could kiss him while drunk.…
The fact that this scene leapt so far past where they had been without them having had ANY coherent talk about what their relationship even was, let alone a moment of informed consent, and then also was structured around a moment of intoxication helped create the creepy vibe too. It all made the non-con vibe feel like a deliberate choice on the part of the show's creators.
I like Nuea & Sin/Syn (or rather the *prospect* of them, since Nuea is still hitting on Kuea at this point) because…
"To be honest, I can't believe I'm wishing a drama would focus *more* on the college engineering majors."
Best quote of the day. ROFL. There was a point over the last few years where I tipped over into desperation for a college drama that DIDN'T even involve Engineers. But I'm down with it here because the rest is... well, the rest.
Wow I'm surprised how many people are upset with the pacing of the show! I love it so far. That kitchen scene…
Pacing is more than just how fast a romance or plot advances. I personally like gradual development. The pacing issues I addressed are particular scenes. Some of them drag way out and it disrupts the flow of the episode and creates these boring, taffy-stretches of time.
I'm waiting for the drama to be over (or almost over) so I can binge it but I saw a snippet on yt and wow the…
The cinematography on the show is really well accomplished. The plot though, ugh. Not worth it. But binging it is probably the best way to handle that.

I will meet you in the middle here. Because A) you've made some good points and B) you've met me in the middle on mine.
I will point out though, I never said sexual contact with a drunk person is rape automatically. I said sexual contact with drunk/intoxicated person is Sexual Assault, and that's a far wider range of behaviors than rape. I had initially thought the scene was suggesting in the fade to black that they had sex that night. But I can see where someone might argue the fade to black didn't suggest that. THAT is probably the moment most open to interpretation for me.
I still feel the encounter was non-con. But what also bothers me is the lack of clarity on that matter. I feel like the showmakers possibly left that one vague on purpose and that in and of itself is problematical.
I was on Discord watching it with my GF's and we were all WTF. It was just...bad. In so many ways. And I've consistently…
I agree his prettiness cannot make up for the shitty script. Nothing really can.
I think it's a matter of taste on the acting thing. Some people think Krist is god's gift to acting and he's kind of "meh" to me. I don't hate him, but I'm not impressed by him either. So I am totally down for your view on Zee's acting if he strikes you that way. Certainly his performance in this has been awful and I feel it has a lot to do with the aforementioned awful writing.
They still don't have same-sex mariages. The situation is definitely not as good as what most thai dramas show.
There is indeed some source material. I do not bookmark stuff as I read--which is hugely stupid of me but my bookmarks would be a zoo otherwise (I read a lot). Gimme a bit to dig stuff up.
I hope it did not come across that I was criticizing Thailand. I certainly did not intend for that to be the message. Queer rights are a problem everywhere, even in my own country where we took way, way too fucking long to pass marriage equality legislation. I was simply adding some observations to the conversation and certainly they are not the whole picture and a Western perspective at that. And as a Westerner I am NOT an expert in the least. But yes, I agree there are so many factors involved, including that Thailand's body politic has been focusing on "cleaning up" Thailand's reputation for sexual tourism and part of that means addressing sex in general under a more conservative umbrella. But I am NOT judging.
Thailand indeed is more tolerant than many places in SEA and I'm very excited to see that.

I get you. I've been following Indian political trends regarding gay rights for a long time and I was very pleased to see gay sex decriminalized a few years ago. It can be really frustrating and disheartening not to see representation in your culture. Marriage equality hasn't assured true equality here in the USA. There's still plenty of societal backlash. All we can do is fight the good fight. Hugs!
Hope I won't get negative feedback, but I feel to say my opinion. When people on twitter recommend this series…
Even if you were to get negative feedback, it's all cool, Sgaby. You are entitled to your view point. I agree with a lot of what you've said.
I never felt Lian had a right to decide which version of Kuea's self he had to present. That's for Kuea alone to decide. Few of us show all of ourselves to everyone and Lian simply hasn't earned the right to see Kuea's other sides. That he's forcing the issue proves that. The Kuea presented to Lian and the Kuea he is when Lian is around are both facets of the same person and only Kuea has a right to choose who to show which parts of himself. There's nothing wrong with hiding who he is. And there is nothing wrong with being a musician. None of that needs fixed, uncovered or forced to the surface. Kuea was fine the way he was before Lian ever forced him to move in.
I also am not a fan of the pacing. It creates dull periods where time feels stretched out and wasted.
that egg meat cleaver scene...i felt embarrassment tbh and when kuea started crying i smiled :)
I was squawking at the tv because honestly I have a giant 3lb cleaver in my kitchen and it's about the only damn thing I use. I chop everything from chives to chickens with it. So when Lian said "you don't use that for an egg!" I was like "Motherfucker, mine is twice that size and yeah, I dice eggs with it".

ROFL This show...
