I didn't care for this series at all. Though the acting was really great, the story was crap. There were scenes of great potential for something interesting, carried entirely by the chemistry of the actors. But it was overshadowed and ruined by the atrocious storytelling.
That being said, I really hope to see all these actors in a better written drama because I was really impressed with all of them. Especially Pavel.
That's what I thought, too. They should've either cut out the vigilante case and focus only on Montree's case,…
Agreed. Episode 8 is about where it starts feeling like a video game speed run. Which is a shame because the story has a lot of potential and the actors do so well.
The disjointed part was probably intentional. I think they wanna keep the audience guessing 👀
Intentional disjointedness serves the plot by peppering in well developed suspense. This episode was disjointed as a consequence of rushing the plot along. It's not the first time they've made a plot point disjointed by edits that rush the story. It's just the worst case of it.
The plot here toward the end of things is rushed and very disjointed. They've done that thing where they have 5 episodes of content that they're trying to shoehorn into 2. And it never works well.
Will I still watch the final ep? Yeah. It's Billy and Babe and Gap, who I will now watch even if they're just in a cereal commercial. But the show's creators have done a huge disservice to what was otherwise an enjoyable bl.
With only one ep left there is no way to close this without being even more rushed and disjointed. Which robs the story and characters.
I've been enjoying this series so far. That being said, Some episodes are definitely stronger than others, and there have been some notable editing snafu's along the way. The lackluster performances by the actress playing Dujdao left me cringing every time. But overall this has been a really engaging bl. (It helps that I'm an absolute sucker for supernatural suspense plots involving a psychic cop.)
Honestly, Gap and Babe are my favorites so far. Though I do concede that Billy and Babe have very hot, very sweet chemistry. Much better chemistry than Billy had with his previous cp.
Heng kept making these almost cartoonish arch-villain facial expressions and when Poom seal-clapped his feet in the Khem/Thong sex flashback, I nearly fell out of my seat laughing.
And Surprise's character was so adorably steadfast!
My primary complaint (other than the laudanum queen, Dujdao) was literally almost everyone grabbing/yanking Tharn around, like he was a communal ragdoll and not a competant adult. Were it me, I'd have been rabid weasel biting anyone who grabbed me.
In general, tho, it's been a nice balance of sexy, suspenseful, endearing and very funny.
Benjamin Brasier is possibly in the cast. It would be hilarious if WabiSabi paired the person who played Wayo in the first 2 Moons with the person who played Phana in 2 Moons 2.
But Bas and Ben seem to have cute energy whenever they're seen together. I think it would work great.
Bass is the only one who doesn't have a partner on the poster 👀👀I think Johan is one of the charactersmost…
The author said she'd always wanted Bas for North, but that he was a little bit tall for the role. So they wanted to find someone tall enough to play Johan. But I heard a rumor that he IS cast already
That same director is doing fine with other projects right now. Though I agree he's not the person to handle this…
There's no news why he terminated his contract. But a couple of other actors have also been let out of their contracts too. And Starhunter Entertainment just held a male casting calls for fresh BL actors.
So my bet is that SH didn't have enough upcoming roles that fit these actors and so the actors--Junior included--were released from contract so they could seek work with other studios.
The book was actually really entertaining. So I am super looking forward to this. Especially since it's Bas. That…
I don't know about criteria, but I don't think all books make their way onto the screen via the same process.
In the case of KinnPorsche, for instance, the story was very popular among readers and was optioned because of its popularity. In the case of Tale of a Thousand Stars, the director read the book and was so moved he made plans to try to eventually bring that book to the screen. In the case of My Lucky Cat, the author never hid the fact that she wrote it with Dun and Bas in mind as the main leads. It made sense Star Hunter Entertainment might purchase rights to it.
A "cat slave", as explained by the author of the book, is someone who really, really likes cats. And who is a…
They aren't both owners of the cat. Mochi owns Bacon (the cat). But Phech wants to get Bacon for himself. He fell in love with Mochi's cat. Later he falls in love with Mochi himself.
Right!? Throw in assassins, a very meta actor/musician sub plot, and a fake relationship gradually turned real…
Petch does the manipulating. He's a hardass business tycoon that always gets what he wants. So being told by Mochi that "no, this cat is not for sale" really got him determined to do anything to win.
And the tone of the book was serious-ish. The assasination attempts were real. Mochi was genuinely in danger. People get shot at and even suffer gunshot wounds, people get hurt in other ways. But underneath that serious story lies the absurdity that two men are being brought together in love by their mutual adoration of this one cat.
Around this is the impact on Mochi's life because it's suddenly out that he has a lover. And he's a celebrity so that gets wild. Especially since he's currently acting in a BL and his fans don't like that Mochi's not available to be in a relationship with the actor playing his onscreen lover. So there's some comedic meta commentary on the world of BL fan-service.
If I got my heart's wish, they'd cast Kimmon to play the actor that Mochi shares the "on-screen" professional CP with.
Star Hunter Entertainment has sole control of the production. And They could go rom-com with it. Or they could go pretty serious. My hope is that they stick with the book's tone, which is serious but with some lighter moments.
The book was written by a DunBas fan with them in mind as the main leads. So I hope Dun and Bas have a good time filming this.
Right!? Throw in assassins, a very meta actor/musician sub plot, and a fake relationship gradually turned real…
No parents in this one. So yeah, we catch a break there.
The big challenge here is Petch's "I always get what I want" attitude that makes him way too free with manipulation tactics, and of course Mochi's family--who all want him dead and are working hard at that.
It's been a while since I read the book, but If I recall right, Petch finally gets in touch with his feelings for Mochi and stops repressing them when Mochi gets shot. It's a hospital bedside thing. This shit be dramatic in the book.

Yeah, it's a trope i love.
Mochi's psycho family and Petch's(Dun) cat-greedy machinations have forced Mochi (Bas) into a position where he and Petch have to pretend to be lovers for Mochi's protection.
They totally catch feelings for each other while at it, at least I assume so. Provided they follow the book closely.
A love story about two guys fighting over a cat? This is all I've never known I wanted
Right!? Throw in assassins, a very meta actor/musician sub plot, and a fake relationship gradually turned real and this drama is set to take the top spot for me.
That being said, I really hope to see all these actors in a better written drama because I was really impressed with all of them. Especially Pavel.

And yes, Junior is really gifted.
But man it's frustrating.
