I've only watched the first episode, but I'm so impressed with Earth's acting in this. It's really hard for an actor to portray a character like Heng with making it ridiculous and he's not. He's funny without being cringy. That is a fine line to walk and Earth is just cruising along it like it's effortless. Regarding the storyline, yes, I think the wife being dead is going to take something away from it - her finding a new life with one of the other real estate firm employees after her divorce was a sweet part of the plot, and her dragging Haruta into finding out who the "other woman"was added to the comedy - but it's only the start of the series. Who knows what's going to happen next? Also, I don't think all Asian cultures should be treated as a monolith - the fact that this is a Thai production, not a Japanese one, should be taken into consideration when judging the show.
The thing is that the novel is pretty long. There are 4 volumes. If they had completed such a long story in just…
Is it the same one as in the discussion link above? If it's not, then sure - I would love that, please and thank you. If it is, that's okay. I've looked at that and what I'd have to go through to get is not feasible for me. I do not have the spoons. Also, I've already been hacked once this year and that was stressful enough. I don't want to risk linking any of my financial accounts to websites that I can't even read properly. I'm sure it's all above board, but my paranoia is screaming at me to just not go there, so I'm going to listen for my own peace of mind.
Like, leaving aside the ending, did anyone else catch the usernames in the chat that was going past the screen at the about 6 mins into episode 11? There was 'Yobirdy', 'En9raved' 'here1n', 'jacktw1st' and 'EnnisDM.' I really liked that. It was a cute way to reference those movies. I'm not sure if this counts as spoiler, so I'm going to label it as one to be safe.

The script being ready doesn't mean it will get made. That's not how it works. There are so many things that could prevent it being made - problems with the cast, not having a big enough budget, disputes and strikes - and then it could be greenlit and cancelled aftewards, as happens on many streaming platforms. Or it could be made and then just chucked into the archive for some unexplained reason - like what happened with the live action adaptation of Heaven Official's Blessing. I'm glad for you that you're hopeful. I don't mean that in a patronising way - I really am happy that you're optimistic - but I've been let down too many times to be anything but cynical - I'd rather expect the worst and be pleasantly suprised that set myself up to be disappointed. I would love to read the novel, but I don't believe it has an official english release as of yet. Maybe if the show is popular enough, it might get one and I could binge read it. That would be good.
This was disappointing. Everything about this show was great - script, acting, production values, music - everything. I thought, oh, it's slow burn. Fine. Wrong! This wasn't slow burn - this was no burn. I have no patience for queer baiting anymore, and when you get right down to it, that is what this was. If this was made twenty years ago, maybe I'd just shrug it off. Not now. Also, everyone keeps saying 'wait for season 2' when there's no guarantee we'll get a season 2. Does anyone else remember the end of season 2 of We Best Love? The little bit of text that popped up on the screen asking us to look out for season 3? That was three years ago. Three years have gone by, and nary a whisper of season 3 have I heard since. At this point I'm pretty sure it won't ever happen. So, you can't just tell us to wait for the next season - you need to finish the story.
Yechan really is a himbo - kind, beefy and a little stupid. He has no ulterior motives for chasing Yul other than he really likes him. It's so wholesome. Maybe this isn't on the same level as Semantic Error, but I dont' care. It was enjoyable, watchable and didn't leave me wanting to scream at the screen in frustration. That's all I can ask for in a BL, really.
I have my doubts about this. It looks cheap and the acting isn't doing much for me. I will give it a go to see if the story is more coherent than what the Thai series was, but the limp fish kiss scene in the latest teaser doesn't get anywhere near what even Jimmy and Tommy had in the Thai original, let alone Zee and Saint.

Thanks for the subs as well, @SubbingPaws .... Will watch the whole thing... if you keep subbing!!
I can't speak for everyone else but, having watched the first episode you subbed, your subs are far and away the better ones. I wouldn't want to push you, but if you wouldn't mind doing it, I'd much prefer to watch your subbed eps. It is entirely up to you, though.
I don't mind dubbing for the most part. Was I disappointed to find out that Lan Wangji's voice was not Wang Yibo's? Yes. Especially, from what I've heard of it, Yibo has quite a nice deep voice. At least it was done well, though. I've watched some dubbed dramas where the dubbing was terrible. Not the voice acting, the actual dubbing mechanics themselves. There's a Thai series where one of the actors doesn't speak Thai, so they dub him , and it sounds likes he's talking through a tunnel. It's really distracting. I've been watching a C-drama where the male lead is dubbed by the same voice actor who voiced Zhou Zishu in WOH and it's so distracting because I just associate that voice with someone older and this actor looks about 19 (he probably isn't but that's what he looks like.) To be clear, this is me problem, not a production problem - i'm not blaming anybody for this.
starting this again with yet another new cast was a mistake. I only know Forth because of his silver chain. I thought I knew Wayo and Pha because of their bracelets, but Tarn has something similar and Tarn and Pha look very alike. The 'recap' was pointless. Most people watching this series will already know what's happened and anyone who doesn't will pick it up from context. Also, it's like the ending of season two never happened. And who the hell are Tarn and Lom? Were they in the book? Why are we focusing now on two characters that we've never even had a hint of? The acting is really bad and the subtitles are lacking, the costumes are odd (is Kit wearing dental scrubs?) It's oinly the first episode so I'll give it some leeway, but oh boy, this isn't looking good.
This was so much better than the 2020 mini series. Now, can we get 'Tossara' and "This Is Love Story' done in the same way, since it seems like theiy're set up for it already.
My heart terribly aches for Ye Guang. Unfortunately in Asian cultures they always find justification for abusive…
That is exactly what I thought when I watched the episodes. I even yelled it out loud to the screen. Can't either of them see what they're doing to their son? He's under too much stress. If he can't get a break, he will go down that path and commit suicide. I wish scriptwriters would stop sugarcoating this very real issue by having other characters make excuses for the parents.
The phrase "voice of an angel" is so very overused, but with Charlie Zhou, it's not an overblown compliment, it's a description. It's a fact. He has a voice angels would weep to hear.
Given how much I loathed the short series of this, I was quite determined to not watch this longer version. I did watch the trailer, though, and I saw the improvements (Vee has actually learned to say the words "I am sorry") and I thought I'd at least watch the first episode. Even if the original short series was terrible, at least War's acting has always been good. Yin's acting has improved a lot, so they are now almost on an equal footing, which is helping things considerably. All in all, so far, I'm enjoying this. Mark is standing up for himself, thank goodness, so let's hope it lasts.
