Well, Tae and Singto don't have great chemistry, but they're both good actors - which helps make up for it. I think Maze is trying to protect himself from getting his heart broken, and also maybe isn't quite over Neung yet. I can understand Maze's reluctance regarding him being Phap's boss - it isn't ethical to start a relationship when there's a clear power imbalance. Why are Yoon and Yacht even in this? Their screen time is basically nil and their characters seem so disconnected from the actual story. People seemed to be so excited that Yacht was going to do a BL role, but I doubt he and Yoon will even kiss. Implications only all round, I fear.
Oh, ha! I called it! I love it when I actually manage to guess right, and I love it when a show drops you just enough clues to figure it out and doesn't try to hide things because they're so scared of spoilers.
Tonight’s episode left me feeling abit uneasy. I feel that if they left out the “phobia of women” bit, it…
I think they kept Weir's fear of women because that was a part of the original material. You're right that the reason for it doesn't really make sense, but I think they did that to tie in with Weir's breakup with Jean (which I'm in two minds about, because the reason they broke up in the original material was the the Jean character was abusive, so whilst I'm not thrilled with Jean being a lying, two timing asshole, it's better than him being an abusive asshole....I guess?) All in all, although I am enjoying it, I think this series suffers from trying to adapt Japanese to Thai (which are two different cultures with different attitudes to certain things) and trying to keep as much of the original material as possible, but not keeping the right things, if that makes sense?
After having skimmed your list, I can understand why it's definitely not your cup of tea. lolThis drama is long…
I had the same problem with the names and clans and backstories when I first started watching it, but I found the Wikipedia article a great help. It explains things without spoiling anything, and you do get used to all the naming conventions and titles and such.
The Untamed, Episode 26 - 27. The Qiongqi Dao scene, where Lan Wangji confronts Wei Wuxian and then drops his poor ummie in the mud to let himself get soaked by the rain. Wouldn't have been half as dramatic a scene without the ummie.
Question: If you watch the trailer you can see one of the boys (I’m guessing they may be a side couple) at 2:46…
I noticed it too! It does seem like the character is deaf and using sign language. If the two boys are the secondary couple, that would be a huge step forward.
Charlie Zhou has the voice of an angel, if you'll pardon the cliche. I hard him sing Xue Yang's character song for The Untamed soundtrack and could not believe my ears. His voice, plus the soft and lovely nature of the song, are the exact opposite of what I expected to hear given the nature of the character.
I love Xue Ran's song, "We Won't Be Falling" from Guardian. Such a shame censorship ruined that series.
The only other one I know is Liu Yu Ning's "Heavenly Question" and that's because I've listened to it about a million, billion times since I bought the soundtrack. It's my favourite from the WoH OST.
You know this drama is based off a web comic, of the same name with the same narrative, so making it gay would…
@J100 I'm in complete agreement with you. The 'guy-falls-for-a-girl-disguised-as-a- man' trope is overdone. And kind of boring. It would be way more interesting if it turned the guy had actually fallen for another guy, or if it turned out they were both girls in disguise who'd fallen for each other. And the whole, "it's the plot of the book/manga so it can't deviate too much from the original story" excuse annoys me even more, because guess what? The Untamed, Word of Honor and Guardian were all based on books....and they all deviate from them in fairly major ways, even leaving aside the BL aspect that's blatantly missing.
Thank you again for waiting. EP2 https://kietahatsukoisub.carrd.co/ (1080, 720, 480 and Dailymotion)
thank you so much. You're so wonderful for doing this and, just speaking for myself, I will happily wait for however long it takes you because you're giving us all your time and hard work so we can watch this great series. thank you again!
There is still hope. It haven’t stop filming for now. It’s still filming
Even if it gets finished, it could still end up being censored even more heavily than Word of Honor or The Untamed. And it doesn't bode well for other BL drama adaptations like The Scum Villain's Self Saving System, The Husky and his White Cat Shizun or Winner is King. Don't get me wrong - I really, really hope it gets finished and we get to see it how the director intended for us to, but at this point it feels like things are going backwards when it comes to BL in China.
Wen Kexing and Zhou Zhishu from Word of Honor (although they've been toned considerably from Faraway Wanderers.) Wei Wuxian from The Untamed (this is perhaps up for debate, as WWX is only doing the wrong thing by the judgement of the world he lives in, which is classist and highly hypocritical.) Shi Jing Yao from Silent Criminal. He is often cowardly and doesn't have the greatest fighting skills, but he always does the right thing in the end.
I've never heard of Mike or Push. If I had to pick one from the list, it would be Saint, but I love Off and Singto as well. Off has great comedic timing and its nice that Singto didn't do BL and then completely reject the genre that made him famous, and that he keeps making them. I also like War Wanarat Ratsameerat, Max Nattapol Diloknawarit, Tul Pakorn Thanasrivanitchai and Drake Sattabut Laedeke.
I'm willing to forgive the not-so-special season one special episodes just because of the extra scenes in ep 4 of this. Shu Yi speaking to Shi De in Japanese was just....excuse me whilst I go die in the corner from the emotional overload.
I love Xue Ran's song, "We Won't Be Falling" from Guardian. Such a shame censorship ruined that series.
