I missed Ryu Joon Yeol in dramas. The last one was "Lost" and I absolutely loved him in that one. He is such a charming and excellent actor. And Chun Woo Hee !!! I enjoyed her in "Delightfully Deceitful" so much. Looking forward to this 😊

The director really likes to work with the same people.
Seems so. So many actors/actresses of "Something in the Rain" and "One Spring Night" :D

What a 2010s makjang cliché drama this turned out to be hahaha 😂 They really stuffed so much in the last two episodes, that it even reminded me of Indian soap operas. Just the funny & over dramatic editing was missing lol

They really put all the classics in this one. Seems like makjang in 16 eps dramas is in trend again. Usually this kind of writing-quality is reserved for weekend dramas, especially the focus on sooooo many side-characters with comic-relief personalities. Not really my cup of tea, but I respect everyone who liked it, so I don't have a problem with high rating. Everyone perceives different and has different taste 😊

Tbh I skipped a lot in the second half, mostly side-characters. Wasn't invested in them at all. In the end, I stayed for the acting. Fabulous! The whole cast was great. Would have been good, if the writing would be half as good as the acting, but well, you can't have everything.

Anyway, I'm glad it's over and looking forward to "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" 😊

I’ve liked the mom until now, even if she had some serious conservative thinking… but in today’s episodes, she really disappointed me.

She doesn’t know Chen Mai Dong at all and keeps saying how horrible his family background is… As if her daughter is in any better situation. She’s doing exactly the same what the town did, when they said the women of her family are cursed, because the men die on them…
How could she be like this?

Even after Chen Mai Dong was so supportive and caring after Mr. He died. I’m actually baffled how calculative and rude she was. Especially her remark how his Grandma will be a burden to them after they marry…. As if she will never get old or in need of care by her children.

I do understand that she is worried her daughter will suffer more in life, but that’s not how you should treat a human being, especially after you’ve gone through experiences yourself.
Didn’t she tell her daughter to find a man who cares more about her leg than her face… then why be like that? He’s the sweetest and doesn't deserve this :(

There is no spoiler of ep 11 or 12 in my comment tho? I put it on spoiler now, but can you please tell me which sentence was a spoiler, so I can be mindful next time?

If you think this is a spoiler of latest episode, then it's just fair you write this to almost every comment here 😅

8.4 is a pretty good rating for an ongoing drama. Also this drama just started like three days ago. Not a lot…
This isn't anywhere related to my comment tho?!
I said people usually rate shows AFTER they watched it and to stop invalidating young people.

Where did my comment say anything about down-rating dramas? This wasn't even what the first comment was saying 😅

And if you go to the ratings, you will see that this is not a drama which is affected of maliciously rating. This went from 8.5. to 8.3 to 8.2 to 8.4. Looks natural for me, especially since starting dramas always have a rather fluctuating rating on MDL.

While I do agree this deserves a higher rating, imo 8.4 is a good rating for a show which started just a few days ago 😊

Ep. 11 and 12 were sooo good! I rewatched so many scenes that I spent almost 3 hours watching haha

Usually I'm not such a big fan of push-and-pull couples, but the chemistry and intensity they have is electrifying. They are highly attracted to each other and like each other, but I can understand why Zhuang Jie doesn't want to settle in her hometown. As someone who experienced a similar situation and chose the "city" in the end, I relate to her.
But gosh, Chen Mai Dong is worth having to reconsider 😂

I think it would be just fair of him to also consider to go to Shanghai for her, but I get that this is not an option because of grandma. And I know he values and loves his hometown.
So it's not fair to ask either of them to chose. So it's their own faults if they get their hearts broken. They just can't keep their hands off each other and the flirting is intense lol

Every ep is better than the last.Drama needs a 10/10, that 8.4 is still way too low 😡,but what do you do, this…
8.4 is a pretty good rating for an ongoing drama. Also this drama just started like three days ago. Not a lot of people watched it or rated it yet. While I do agree this deserves more, because it's fantastic, I'm sure they will rate it after they finished it, like me 😊

Also I don't get why people are still dismissing young people's opinions and interests. We're in the 21st century, let's leave outdated thinking behind :D Besides, it's not just young fans who enjoy these dramas—plenty of middle-aged viewers are passionate about them too 😄 Everyone has the right to appreciate what they love ❤️

Just binge-watched 1-8 and on ep 9 now and I LOVE THIS DRAMA! This is just my cup of tea. Slice of Life, Family and Romance. Well-written characters and very authentic good acting.

This reminds me kinda of "Meet Yourself", which is one of my all-time favourite Chinese drama. While this is a little bit more "depressing" as it touches the theme of death, which is a bit difficult to watch for me, but they are able to turn this into a healing aspect as well.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of it! This is exactly the type of genre, which made me a fan of Chinese dramas ❤️

Also the grandma's friendship is so endearing. I'm loving them so much 🥰
This is the kind of family drama I absolutely love to watch!

They put too much melodrama in the last episodes for me... Was it necessary to put so much stuff in the last eps? Kinda ruined this drama for me. It was okayish. I watched better family dramas with healing and development aspects.

The couple was cute tho. I wish they would've been the main in the last eps, but it was all about the mom...

This sentence was not about accepting his father as he is and make peace.Huan basically said Ming can either choose…
I'm not against the forgiveness and seconds chances but you can't tell me this drama doesn't push for being lenient to abusive & shameless behavior of blood-related members.
"But it's your father...." "They are family...." "After all you are father and son, and he is pitiful."

This is what I don't like. That it's a given to forgive because it's your parent. So, yes they are kinda pushing him to accept his father and forgive him. Also it's not the first time I watch this in Asian dramas. It's pretty common.

I know this is a family drama and about Chinese culture, but this is a message that doesn't quite sit right with me. I quote: "But blood relations, well, you can't just shake them off."

Wrong... u can. You're not obligated to forgive toxic behaviour of blood-related members, be it parents, siblings or whoever. This drama seems to advocate for forgiving abusive parents, guilt-tripping and all. It's like they're saying, "Hey, they're old now, forgive and forget." But that's Chinese dramas for you.

I still like this drama and also like the family aspect, but this is a part I just don't agree with.

Gotta say Xu Kai is the best with comedic expressions. His grimaces make me laugh so hard 😂
When Chenghuan said that Mao and her imagined going to the beach and watch muscle men, his wtf face was hilarious 😂
He should definitely play more roles with comedic flair. His best role so far is still Gu Yan Zhen in "Arsenal Military Academy" for me. He was slaying that role!

I also love his witty lines and his funny expressions in this one. He should totally take more roles like that. Fits him way better than the cold stern CEO type. Here he is a mix of both tho hahaha

Does love at first sight truly exist? I never believed it... until now 😂The first time I saw Xiang Liu was…
I feel you! Now that I watch this video, I'm so yearning to watch S2... even though I know it will break my heart 😭 The OST is sooooo good! Already feeling nostalgic hearing it again.

Xiang Liu is hands down one of the most fascinating characters I've ever come across in dramas. Seriously, in all my years of watching, I think I've never seen a similar character to his. He's got this alluring, otherworldly vibe that just draws you in. And Tan Jianci? He's absolutely killing it! The way he moves, fights, everything about him just screams charisma. And don't even get me started on his voice. Just mesmerizing!

Even his portrayal of Feng Feng Bai is so captivating. He actually plays two different kind of personalities and each of them shines so brightly. How does he make them both so darn enjoyable to watch?

I think the only character I got similar vibes from was Tantai Jin of "Till the End of the Moon". I would love to discover more characters with this ethereal vibe :D

Security bureau is no joke. Everyone was enjoying a cooking show while a massacre unfolds at the same time and place in silent 😲

I couldn't help but chuckle when Prince Xian called for guards and none showed up, only for Gu Yan Xi to step in with, "Allow me, Your Highness... Guards!" lol that was so good!

I really enjoyed ep 28, especially the latter part.

Title Lost You Forever Spoiler
The following character analysis will be based on the novel, using Kaola as well as an AI translation. As we may…
Your take on TSJ perfectly echoes my sentiments about him as a character. I didn't read the novel but reading your comment, it seems he will stay stagnant throughout S2 as well. So I doubt he's gonna change my view of him.

His 'consistent' character (aka no character development) ironically seems to be the main reason XY ends up with him haha 😂 Because of her abandonment issues and the desire for someone solely devoted to her. You mentioned it as well and I wonder if Tong Hua intended it like that or it just turned out that way.

Is that love? Who knows... I don't think so. But I guess it works if both parties settle for it.

But even the "I only live for you" attitude of TSJ is still not seen in S1... He coerced her into making a promise of not falling in love with anyone, so that he can solve his fiancee and family issues, but did he? No. lol
Empty promises like that further define his character.

Of all the four male leads, TSJ is the one I like the least with XY 🙈 I guess that's why romance isn't the main draw for me in watching S2. Thankfully, this drama offers a lot more than just who ends up with XY, so I'm still looking forward to it ❤️🔥
