“You all must stay away from the Qiao family or else you’ll be dumb!”
“Get my beddings back to the main chamber. I’ll be battling Lady Qiao over every inch of land!”

Wei Shao stay away from Xiao Qiao or else you’ll be dumb 😂

I like to say I hardly watch Chinese ancient dramas because it’s not the same as back in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. I know that I should compare the older dramas with the new, but I guess I’m just used to the older dramas more and expect more from the newer generations. I’m more interested in real martial arts and real cultural genre. Like Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, and Jetli, dicky Cheng type of action and Taiwanese and tvb Hong Kong ancient dramas. The only current mainland dramas I’ve watched are unchained love, my wife’s double life (it was meh) and demon hunter’s romance and now this drama. I usually don’t watch mainland dramas because I don’t like the fake slow action scenes. Plus, some of the newer actors are too thin making it look like they are drowning in the armor they’re wearing. And they can barely even lift the big swords and spears using it correctly as they do in ancient dramas. The actors in here actually look like they’ve been in wars knowing what to do. Baby face and hot looks can’t always portray general or warlord characters they just look funny and struggle to move doesn’t feel believable in my opinion. Actor who knows how to act evil look evil feels more real, handsome and cool than those who have the looks. I’ve been waiting for this drama since I saw Liu Yu Ning in a journey to love 😭 (couldn’t bring myself to finish it) and loved his acting, read and bought the prisoner of beauty books. I like Liu Yu Ning’s acting because it feels real and believable. (Crazy to say because I first saw him in a journey to love and it was only a few episodes) I was hooked and always wondered how they were going to portray the characters from the novel. So far, this drama hasn’t disappoint, yet but I hope it stays like this till the end. It’s way different than the novel but I’m liking the change. FL is more stronger and clever politically, very cunningly strategic up par with ML. As for the ML, he’s more aggressive when touching her in the drama than in the novel. In the novel, he ignores her and sent her to his house after he married her in Xindu. My point is the drama cannot be compared to the novel because it’s way different. In the novel, FL is a girl from a modern world and wakes up in a young girl’s body in an ancient era. She dreamt of the future and was able to change it knowing what would happen. FL in the drama is clever and strong, caring about her family and people. It’s a different kind of outsmart. I really like this drama so far it was as I expected when I watched the trailer 2 years ago that this drama would do hella good. They chose great actors and actresses. Okay done with the 2 cents and long rant peace ✌🏼

He does… Not until the very end of it all. He knows in order for their love to work out in the future, he needs…
Nah he should only wipe out that uncle of hers

My favorite quote from her is when she said “That day you took the seal and drove me out of Xindu, you betrayed me alone. But now I’ve rallied Panyi’s people to help you dig the canal. If you go back on your words again, the ones you’ll betray are the people of Wei and Yanzhou, the people of both states. Lord Wei, how can you bear this?” She’s lowering herself comparing to everyone and doesn’t care how she’ll end up. Its okay to betray her but he’s the one going to face consequences once he goes back on his words.

I mean the non consent bed scenes yeah I understand all that but he’s not a jerk or anything everyone says he is. This novel is in the ancient times not the modern days.

Can you tell how it was portrayed in the novel?
From what I remembered, she did opened it in front of him but what she said wasn’t the same.

When people call novel Wei Shao a pervert, I wonder what they actually mean.I had to Google the word again to…
This this is what I was getting at cause he’s not a pervert. He’s just a married young man lusting over his wife. He’s just entitled that he could do whatever he wants. In the novel, he never choked her. He ignored her until his mom drugged him.

Damn she kicked ass in episode 7. I was wondering how that part would be portrayed in the drama. Way better than in the novel in my opinion. She’s way stronger in the drama than in the novel.

I disagree with the comment that says the FL is accurate to the novel. Honestly, she’s more strong witted than in the novel. Her grandfather died and she didn’t even go to his funeral. She continued with the wedding. To me, in the novel, she was more like a child (even though she is a child) complaining but with a little bit of intelligence she learned along the way. Honestly speaking her intelligence in the drama and in the novel cannot be compared imo. I know I’m comparing them but I’m trying to prove a point that the characters in the drama and in the novel are not the same. Well, to me they are not the same.

Again, maybe novel readers can correct me if I am looking for the wrong thing in this show. When I started this,…
You’re welcome! Yes you should give it a few more episodes. I think it’s really good so far. In the novel, she’s just changing her dream she had of the ML killing her entire family. (It did show her dream about ML killing her family in one of the upcoming teasers.) In the drama, she’s politically smart but not as smart as the ML because he’s experienced war and governing since he was a child. His bro even told him to not trust anyone and end up like their grandfather. As for the FL, she only heard stories from her grandfather. (Stories of war and how he built the canal even told her to use herself to gain ML’s trust) In the novel, her grandfather had already passed. She had to changed what she saw in her dream to stop her family from being destroyed by ML.

I wouldn’t say she has ‘plenty’ of smart like the comment below because ML still outsmart her. She’s only a little smarter in the drama than she is in the novel. The novel can’t really be compared to the drama because it’s way different. They changed the story quite a bit.
