What I love most about this show is its incredibly realistic portrayal of Korean office culture. It’s about 96% accurate, with the remaining 4% dramatized for storytelling purposes. But honestly, that 96% is so spot on that it might as well be 100% true—this is exactly how Korean office culture operates. Even my Korean friends have confirmed that this is the most authentic office drama they've seen, capturing the nuances of workplace dynamics better than any other series.
One of the defining aspects of Korean office culture is its strict hierarchical structure—it dictates everything. I’ve known people who were laid off simply because they outperformed their supervisors or showed too much competence. Instead of being rewarded, their excellence became a threat. "Whistleblower" is still the biggest issue in KOC, it is a big NO and if someone does it, they are outcasted and ignored to the point that people either leave the company or feel guilty for a crime they never committed. Workplace harassment, especially verbal misconduct, was once so ingrained that reporting it was almost unheard of. While laws have since changed, the mentality remains the same—behavior persists, just under a different guise. Even today, legal protections exist, but they are far from enough to hold offenders truly accountable.
If the Reply series is the gold standard for depicting Korean everyday life, then this show is the definitive representation of Korean work culture.
I don’t hate the FL alone. I understand that she has her struggles—ostracized by the neighborhood (a typical K-drama trope), burdened by relentless bullying, and left with nothing but bitterness. That’s why she left in the first place. She doesn’t feel the need to explain herself, and honestly, that’s her right.
But what isn’t her right is using her pain as an excuse to trample over others, to dictate how people should bend to her emotions. She is bound to the ML by a complicated mix of regret, love, and joy. He was there for her when she needed him the most—her calm in the storm, her extinguisher when she burned too hot. But now that she’s back, carrying the same destructive attitude, she needs a serious wake-up call before she wastes her intelligence on misplaced anger.
That said, I don’t like the ML either. He’s a complete pushover—not just with the FL, but with his friends, the SFL, and even his own life. He’s too kind, to the point where his kindness becomes self-destructive. He needs to take control, make decisions, stand his ground. Instead, he just drifts—a sad, directionless guy, pushed around by his mother, entangled with an SFL he doesn’t even love, trapped in an endless cycle. I can’t stand such indecisive characters.
Also making SFL so nice to make us guilty and hate FL is not gonna work on me, same goes for SML. I do not feel sympathy for any of the second lead characters, they choose their, knowing fully what they would expect.
I really tried it until 4 ep, but couldn't continue...the story literally is nothing but a plot that how ML-FL can end up together, there is no other plot.
Tang is a gifted DOP…his camera work could easily be nominated for Oscars….his cinematography for Nadao projects are out of this world…and Boss directing this series proves this is going to be another masterpiece
this looks so unique…trailer was so beautiful…it is giving indie looks…I thoughts I felt different…but glad to know all finding it different and unique as well….fantstic trailer…
I don’t like ML…he is too old to play like a youngster driving bicycle here and there…also his character is obnoxious, confused and irrational…sometimes he is too righteous and sometimes he just crazy… he is just a middle age man throwing tantrum…. on top of that he doesn’t admit he wrong and too hasty, he is judgemental, rude without a reason…and talks back in all situation…his traumatic backgrounds doesn’t justify his behavior to hate all and feel he is the only one on this planet that is wronged. he is sent as a spy although he won’t follow to begin with but is also deep shit if a person…no matter how useful a tree is if it doesn’t bend it is bound to die.
GHJ is undoubtedly a famous and seasoned actor with an impressive 35-year career in the industry. However, I find her dialogue delivery difficult to connect with—it feels as though the words simply roll out of her mouth without proper articulation or emphasis. It's almost like her tongue is numb, and she’s just going through the motions of speaking, which can make it challenging to fully grasp the depth of her performance.
Moreover, in her last two dramas, she seems to have a constant air of fragility, as if she’s on the verge of collapse. Her face appears pale and worn, almost like she’s sick or under tremendous strain. I’m not sure if it’s intentional makeup, a specific choice for her roles, or something else, but she often comes across as anxious and distressed, which adds to the uneasy impression.
this is so bogus...they fucking don't have money to buy a factory or deal with other matters...and yet in EP12 her husband is shopping at Tiffany & Co...even though you can buy as cheap as 300$ from there but still someone who is having money issue shouldn't be visiting TCO.
BL web dramas are aired on apps and social media in and out of China, they are not under the Chinese official…
if you don't watch BL, then no need to comment, your input on why CN ban BLs we know that already, we don't need your two cents on this matter, even if you are Chinese, expert or whatever, please go and don't lecture us.
It is huge step in CN BL industry, where love confession is happening, a better production then before, jealousy is happening...in CN it is like don't tell, don't ask type thing...even if actors do these BLs and don't do fan meets and all that, they will be given different roles...so hopefully these actors can do other roles and not get banned!!!
All of the Jin dialogues goes right beyond my knowledge, the boy better be shaman or something amazing, otherwise i am gonna kick his ass for being a fake future teller. He has been saying stuff and then goes right back to being human...
When Cir said after Jin left, "hearing thoughts, something so unbelievable", then it is almost confirmed that their is no parallel universe, I mean what could be more unbelievable "a parallel universe he stepped in out of nowhere" or "hearing someone thoughts"?
Cir family and finance, did something to Phu that he went through so much pain that he forgot all what happened. But my question why Cir friends don't recognize Phu???
There is a mystery element, and even with all the errors, it is keeping me hooked. Hope the fiancé bitch plot don't last long, hate to see maekjang!!!
sorry to say but I am least interested in Faifa story, also sorry to say Faifa doesn't have ML aura. Junior played side characters too many times that he has lost his image as ML or main CP.
