i love xiaoyao. she's so smart, is people smart, has really high standards, is always helpful and kind. she's literally ready to die for xuan, i love their bond.
while on the other hand. contrary to what she says often, imo she gives away too much of herself, to many people. it's like she scatters pieces of herself everywhere, to keep everyone satisfied. this isn't really obvious but very subtle, i think.
but when it comes to jing, she's very confusing. and hurtful. why do i feel like she'll never ever give her heart to anyone? because I don't see it. and i empathise with her a lot, but again, she's very weird with him. the guy is too much of a doormat, he's constant chasing her, and she's just... idk, i don't want to say anything harsh. but that guy is too good, he's just too good and it's hard to see him hurting so much. i wish she'd either actually fall for him(doesn't seem likely so far) or just makes it clear that she won't. because even if she "chooses" him, which this show is about, it seems, it'll be for "companionship," while jing wants her soul, her heart, he's really in love with her(which i cannot comprehend, just trying to understand it through him tbh).
"you know that if there wasn't something, i wouldn't have come to you," nah she's straight up using jing now. poor guy. he and xuan are my main characters.
[EP 10]it's kinda disappointing how the beginning of the first episode sets the tone for good design, aesthetics…
i find it confusing, why does xiaoyao care about xiangliu?? literally, why? he gave her 40 lashes on sight, threw her down from a tall tree, sucks her blood, threatens to cut her throat and doesn't show an ounce of kindness to her until much later(which i kinda like now). i mean, characters can be messed up but his behaviour lacks consistency and there isn't enough substance to justify his flat character.
i kinda feel like she goes to him because he is openly cruel to her, giving her no false hopes and promises, so it's easier for her to be with him as she knows that she won't be burdened by his non existent feelings(bc trust issues). she doesn't have to face her emotions with him, as they're both pretty avoidant and the relationship is transactional. plus, she has some π€π» feelings of attachment budding for shiqi which she's trying to supress. being with xiangliu seems to be a sort of escape from those feelings and her inner emptiness.
these emotions and dynamics are so complex and beautiful to explore but i wish they were portrayed better by the actors(just yang zi and the demon tbh, rest are great)and the production. :/ still, not bad.
it's kinda disappointing how the beginning of the first episode sets the tone for good design, aesthetics and cinematography but i don't see much of that later on. and typically of cdramas, there are so many lengthy scenes where there is simply no bgm or if there is, it's not really audible.
I feel really sad how some fans disliked the first couple bc they werent as intimate compare to the 2nd couple,…
i agree. even though green flag couples who always talk everything out bore me to death, which they were in the last few episodes, i adored their tender relationship when it was new and developing. yws crying because she found comfort and felt safe with ziyu, and him just being so innocently flirty and gentle with her. he's such an innocent baby at heart and his love was so pure.
zlh's makeup in this drama π§π»ββοΈ I've seen him before but this time it makes him look so youthful, full of life and PRETTY??? i need the details.
just came here to say that i love the ML(seeing of all the "gullible" and "useless" labels thrown over him). like, we already have an abundance of overbearing and cold male leads in dramaland, let a man be an emotional damsel in distress(which he really isn't imo). i absolutely loved him from the beginning because of how honest, rebellious and kind he is. also, let the girls shine and slaughter for once. β¨π π»
Yes, maternal cousins. Historically, and even today, marrying first cousins is acceptable in some cultures.
well, incest is still harmful. I wasn't shocked bc i know that it happens even today and was pretty normal back then. and it's still weird and uncomfortable.
