Title Destined with You Spoiler
can someone explain the scene where sinyu saw the past version of hongjo (aengcho) running away at the historical…
That was a memory of Mu Jin trying to get out thru Sin Yu's mind.

This was the very same scene where Mu Jin first saw Aeng Cho after their break up (where Aeng Cho was forced to break up with him as Mu Jin's father threatened to kill the Shaman who raised her but made it appear as if she did not like the idea of eloping with Mu Jin).

Remember, after Mu Jin passed the national exams, he became a royal guard and saw someone who looked like Aeng Cho walking around the royal Concubine's house in the palace. He then followed her, Aeng Cho realized he's being followed so she tried to change her course only to be suprised to see Mu Jin in front of her.
That was the very same memory/scene depicted, implying that such a memory emerged as Sin Yu was walking along the very same path that Mu Jin and Aeng Cho walked 300 years ago.

He hasnt broken up with his gf TEN episodes in? Sure, she is trash but WHY IS HE A COWARD!! He broke up w/ her…
Hi.
The reason why Sin Yu couldn't break up with the 2FL completely was because they were already in a way, betrothed. While we only saw the two of them together where Nayeon was obviously head over heels with SinYu, what we cannot see though were the economic threads binding the two. That their relationship entailed a series of business ventures that will be solidified with their marital union.

Keep in mind that it was Nayeon who "courted" Sin Yu. The latter, knowing all too well that he didn't have much time left and thus needed to produce an heir to comply with his family obligations (Jang male decendants' duty + needs to continue the bloodline to ensure succession in their businesses), basically had all the formula he needed to ensure that his family will be okay even if he dies early. That although he didn't love Nayeon, he will learn to love her as love is not an option for him anyway considering he has a ticking time bomb in his head. This course was already prepared by him way before Hong Jo came to the picture. He was just too busy to confront the fact of marriage.

And this was also why he was so confused after meeting Hong Jo. Not only did he no longer like to proceed with his "plan" to marry Nayeon, but he was also feeling things that he didn't feel before for anyone. Not even for Nayeon whom he was in a relationship with for 2 years.

He didn't know yet that such feelings for Hong Jo was love all along. And that's why we saw him being in denial and even blaming it totally on the spell as he couldn't believe he could transform into such a man over a stranger he just met.

Again, his relationship and thereby marriage to Nayeon was the rational and logical move for his stature (he's very wealthy!! we only knew about the Construction firm but it was implied that his Dad is a chairman of a conglomerate and Sin Yu will inherit all of that one day) and his generational curse, at least he could have someone to produce an heir with to continue the blood line.

[Even if he acknowledged his feelings for Hong Jo, it would be very difficult to choose her over Nayeon considering the losses that would happen. He's not even sure if Hong Jo likes him too. So he'd rather not take the chance to mess up the perfect formula]

But remember when he tried his best to fight off his feelings for Hong Jo? Nayeon confronted him about it in the process after she received the pictures from Hong Jo's "stalker" aka the Gardener. We eventually saw him forget about his reasons and just followed his heart (Hong Jo). All of us thought he was just flip flopping but ultimately, it was revealed that it was because of that car confrontation that he found out about Nayeon cheating with Daum's CEO. Meaning, he eventually threw away all of his inhibitions and went against his logic just to be with Hong Jo. That he realized that there's no reason to hold on to the formula when Nayeon wasn't truthful to him anyway.

This move is such a pivotal moment for the story as this was even way before Sin Yu found out about his past life with Hong Jo/Aeng Cho.

So imagine when he finally found out about who he was and why he's so drawn to Hong Jo. Perhaps he was so relieved that everything made perfect sense. That his fears about the economic side of things no longer mattered as he's Mu Jin, and he's been looking/waiting for her for 300 years.

I hope this helps.

On Tale of the Nine-Tailed Oct 18, 2023
I watched this when it was airing, around the same time as Start Up. But I dropped it after episode 2 as I wasn't feeling anything.
Perhaps it's the time to come back considering there's S2 already (so the story must be that good) and I'm still on Destined With You high?

I will miss this so much 😭 Cant believe I actually stayed up late to f all finish all 16 episodes in 2 days.…
Hi. I must have responded to several questions about the epilogue that allow me to just copy and paste my most recent comment about it. I hope this helps.
---- ------ -------- ------

Because it was never explained how the Book of Spells got buried in the Jang Clan's property. The last time we saw it, the royal family was trying to get hold of it to use for their own advantage. Mu Jin was even captured with it. The epilogue simply tells us that Mu Jin managed to keep it safe. Perhaps the box that was under his possession when he got captured was fake. That all along, he secured Aeng Cho's books and after the dust has settled, he orchestrated his next meeting with her by burying those books in his property and by building a shrine around it with a Shaman and his male descendants to take care of it.As to why no one could open it but Hong Jo in the present life, this connects to the talismans Mu Jin placed on the box. The past life has never mentioned that only Aeng Cho can open the box. Precisely why MuJin was able to open it and secure her books to safety. But once the box was sealed again by talismans (check the opened box when Mu Jin was trying to bury it, talismans were plastered all over its inner side), then only its owner -Aeng Cho/Hong Jo could reopen it.

This begs the question, how could Mu Jin get hold of talismans?

Remember, the old Shaman that raised Aeng Cho was still alive, and it's implied that she's the first shaman of the Jang Clan's shrine, and also the past life of Shaman Eun Wol. She must have cast the spell on it that's why its power remains strong in the present time. This is also the reason why Shaman Eun Wol knows who the owner of the box is.

I truly enjoyed this drama but admittedly, FL got the better end of the stick. She happened to bag a good looking and kind ML who was also obviously raised well in a loving and happy home. His relationship with his siblings, friends, and family speaks volumes of his personality.
FL, on the other hand, had to learn how to lower her guard and embrace the true meaning of family one step at a time.

This is also one of the few office dramas that I enjoyed. I really learned a lot from how they operate as a team. Made me interested about marketing.

Thank you for this drama! 😍

I trusted this review. You did me so bad
I rarely rate a show with a perfect 10 but Destined With You managed to make me rate it that high.
I'm sorry if it wasn't up to your preference but please don't discount my own take on the show.
I stand by my rating. Feel free to leave your own review.

Did anyone here watch My Lovely Liar? They totally reused the Tiffany wedding rings from that show here!
Wow! I didn't notice!! I just checked and they're actually the same line.

Well, I'm not sure about reusing but Rowoon is the official brand ambassador of Tiffany and Co. and they sponsored this drama. The bracelets are also from their line. Perhaps MLL's stylist just used T&C's too. And if indeed they're reused, MLL reused it apparently because they shot the finale in August whereas DWY filmed it in May.

Anyways, I love both shows and I'm so happy about this connection! 😍 Thank you for your eagle eyes.

Anyone knows which drama will replace Destined With You drama slot?
Hi, for future reference, Asianwiki has this feature where they put what the drama replaced and which one will replace it in its timeslot.

As for DWY, no info about its replacement has been added so JTBC must have used its timeslot to stretch the other shows' schedules.

How Eun wol halmoni is related to Shin-yu and his family?also EP16 ending credits is very confusing T_T
She's the appointed Shaman for the temple.
The Jang Clan has to protect the temple including the Shaman.
That's why they are close also.
She also happens to be the reincarnation of the old Shaman that adopted Aeng Cho.

Ep 16 epilogue basically tells us that Jang Mu Jin was able to protect the original books of spells that Aeng Cho had written. The royal family did not get hold of it
And it was him who buried the box with the spells in his land. So he basically was so hopeful that him and Aeng Cho would meet again in their next life that he built a shrine where he buried the box in and tasked his male descendants to protect it no matter what.

It also circles back to ep 1 where Mu Jin, through Shin Yu found the box himself.

I think it was a glimpse from the past (see the injury in his face, it's same after that snow fighting scene)…
Thank you for this!
I have this thought in my head with regard to the epilogue. It feels refreshing to be somehow validated. Like wow, we got it. 😂

As others here have said, the spells and curses were largely forgotten after the initial shenanigans (which were…
It was Shin Yu who found the box when he stayed late to guard the demolition process. (This is also why in the epilogue, we saw Jang Mu Jin with the box on the ground, presumably telling us that he was the one who buried it as it was never revealed how the Book of Spells managed to be kept within the Jang property. The last time we saw it was when Mu Jin got captured by the royal guards).

He then called Shaman Eun Wol to inquire about it and the latter said she's not the owner of the box and hinted that he already knows who the owner is. The first person that popped in his head was Hong Jo.
