I also believe this!!! I also think that maybe gardener dude (joseon version) tried to kill SY (joseon version)…
OHHHHHH that could be true too!!! So it was Mr. Jang's guilt that made him believe that he killed Aeng Cho and just accepted the curse. But in truth, he was the target of the Gardener (joseon version) all along. 🥹🥹
I'm just gonna prepare my heart for this heartbreaking story.
I don't get the hate for the female lead. she's the reason I'm watching! I love that she is genuinely kind but…
True!! I just don't understand the hate when here I am, each episode, just proud of my girl for overcoming all of the hardships and still manages to be a kind-hearted adult through it all.🥹🥹 I empathize with her. Her life was too lonely!
I think Aeng Cho got married to the past life version of the Gardener. I remember him telling her in the earlier episodes that Hong Joo resembles his deceased wife.
Perhaps they were arranged to get married and Jang (Shin Yu's ancestor) couldn't do anything about it as they were not of the same status so she couldn't marry Aeng Cho even if he wants to.
Then maybeeee the Gardener found out about their love story when Aeng Cho and him were already married so he's got that beef with Mr. Jang and casted a curse on the Jang family.
Also, maybe he was the reason why Jang had to kill Aeng Cho.
A week has passed and I can say that as much as I loved/love MLL, it has morphed into one of those series that isn't as memorable but I was meant to find to help me carry on in life.
Not one of those I'd-remember-forever type of thing. But just was there to help me cope with the overwhelming things going on in my personal life.
Thank you, MLL. I'd feel like putting this out here.
Yeah I felt that, too! They seemed very stale in the pictures. I'll wait till we see the poster--that usually…
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was hoping that if she'd get paired with a younger actress, it would be someone mature acting-wise like Kim So Hyun. Oh well. That's for future projects though. Let's hope for the best for Matchmakers.
I was excited about this drama because of Rowoon and Jo Bo Ah, but at episode 3, I'm wondering: how did this get…
I disentangled myself from my own judgment on the narration style, I have preferences of my own and I respected that of the writer's. And I then managed to enjoy the show as a whole? It's fun and it's unique, and it has a different flavor with that of other dramas. It may be messy but it's my kind of messy. Acting and chemistry is also good.
To be honest, I feel like with their prior renewal of contract (for 2021-2023), FNC was to blame with how Rowoon was left out with all the group activities, apart also from the fact that he hurt his back and knee. I understand it's hard to find a common free sched for a 9-member group with several individual activities but why is it that they always schedule group activities during Rowoon's drama filming? Then when he's finally free, the rest of the members are scheduled for their own thing. Barely no SF9 schedule left for him to do.
Perhaps there have been internal issues as well because of this which led to him ultimately saying no to group activities moving forward. I'm just glad he stayed and is still with the group.
Usually the sceipt reading bits would give us an inkling on how the leads' chemistry will be. Sadly, I don't see it on these two. I love Rowoon and he's always nailed the chemistry part. I hope we get that here as well.
Can we talk about their acting in ep 10???? All three of them??? I kept rewinding bc of how some moments were…
Indeeeeeed. I can't picture out anyone else being Shin Yu and Hong Joo. They both nailed the roles, especially how they carry themselves. Rowoon, especially, is very detailed with his Shin Yu role. The way he stands and projects, his mannerisms, all for Shin Yu. It's just amazing to watch how he doesn't break from his character.
He didn't leave them though. He's still signed as part of 9. It's just that for this renewed contract, his schedules will be for his individual projects. I guess he's gearing up for military enlistment as he has to enlist by next year and he still has at least two dramas to do.
We all have this collective confusion now about so many things because they were not answered by the drama yet. All the more reason to patiently watch how the story unfolds. Writers have different way of narrating their story and if this is this Writer's style, then I'll respect it.
Questions we have thus far: Do the white spells work? Does Hong Joo really has the powers to cast them well? What was the black spell/curse all about? Why Mr. Jang killed Aeng Cho? Who is the gardener to the story? What is this alliance with Nayeon about? Why is Nayeon so obsessed with Shin Yu? What's Jae Gyong's deal? Is Ms. Ma's role really just a minor role for office fillers? Because that actress has been receiving very significant roles in the past three years. There's maybe more to their story. What does the Shaman know about their past life and why is she troubled that these two met again in their present life, and yet allows their romance to happen? Why can't Shin Yu disclose to his Dad about what he knows about his past life? I just think that considering their genealogy, they should at least discuss about their family curse and how it's affected Shin Yu. What's the deal with Shin Yu's friend and his Mom? Why are they being tied together?
These are my questions so far. Might add more. Hopefully some will be ticked off next week 'cause they truly have a lot to unpack here.
Please someone tell me why two actors that can kiss be made to kiss like that? : )) I am not saying it should…
I believe the last kiss was him remembering how he's kissed her in their past life. Remember this was the Joseon era, so conservative. The accepted kisses then for unmarried couples are pecks. That kinda explains why he kissed her that way in the beach scene, very similar to how he kissed her when they met up in the mountain after he finally became an adult (past life).
So far, Rowoon has a knack for choosing great scripts. So I'll just trust his choice on this. The writing has been messy but the chemistry between the characters and my curiousity about their past life are enough to pump me up every week.
Too bad the leads can't focus on romance yet with that very palpable chemistry.
I hope this doesn’t mean that he’s due to go to the military soon 🥺😢
I would like to clarify though that the agency said he's still a part of SF9, they're still 9. But Rowoon will focus on his individual projects, whereas the 8 will continue promoting without him moving forward.

OMG I NEED YOUR THEORY, GUYS.

I love this kind of mess. See you on ep 16!
