I never knew you could rewatch a drama/scene so many times and never get tired of it. It’s only possible with…
It’s really that comfort drama. I’ve watched it in full for 20 times already in a span of four months and I’m still not over it.

Seems to be a common trope in Chinese dramas that the FL can treat the ML like literal garbage and that’s considered…
this is actually a refreshing take. i’m team Zhiyu all the way. i felt that she was so unfair, even at the start during the landlord-tenant trope. she kept overstepping the boundaries

Chen Xing Xu looks extra handsome in this.
I agree. I dare say he looks the most handsome as Gao Haiming.

I’ll still gave it a 9 because it’s hard for a low budget drama to engross me into binge watching it.
The drama may have not been edited well enough with how fast it tends to get especially with the reality setting, it’s like the director wants to just focus on the book version.

With that said, the world building in the book version is miles better than the reality one. You might wonder though if they’re historically accurate with all the tech they’ve introduced despite it being set in 1999 but then you’d realize that it’s just 1999 based on a book, not really 1999 time travel so you’d have a sense of understanding that it does not need to be 100% accurate.

The screenwriter definitely messed up the last episode, especially how it left to the viewers to decipher how it ended the way it ended. I’m still confused but still happy that it ended that way. It’s really just the big HOW. A little explanation would have sufficed but no, they decided to just roll the ending credits and be done with it. The WeTV comments are even so funny as everyone was just confused and asking others how they understood it.

Acting-wise, I never really expected for Chen Xing Xu and Wang Yu Wen to have the best on-screen chemistry especially after watching their bestie coded clips in Wow The World. Watching them in this show suddenly shifted their “besties” energy to “are they perhaps dating in real life? they seem to like each other so much and they’re so comfortable”. Yes, that’s the effect. You could tell that they really became close friends after filming this show, which is a good nod to their middle school selves who were too shy to speak to each other.

And can I just say how good of an actor CXX is?? This is my third consecutive drama of him being in a CEO role but his acting here wouldn’t remind you of his other roles. His facial expressions, mannerisms, body gestures, even his gaze and the way he talks— all just for Gao Haiming and that to me is such a lovely thing to watch as a viewer and a fan.

Alsooo, please cast Wang Yuwen more in rom coms. Her comedic timing is just top notch. I laughed so much in this drama that I couldn’t really rate it to anything lower than 9, it’s that lovely to me!

Overall, this is a good watch. The kind that makes you excited after a busy workday. The OSTs may have been repetitive as they apparently have only 4 but they hit the right spot.
I watched this a day after finishing Love Between Lines and although I loved LBL with all of my heart, I didn’t find myself comparing the ship there with Gao Haiming and Lin Huaner here. It helped that this is a rom com and the first few scenes weren’t romantic, just pure fun and laughter. And when the ship sailed, you have already forgotten CXX in LBL as CXX really owned his Gao Haiming with Wang Yuwen’s Lin Huaner. Their promos are also genuinely good, you can tell they’re truly comfortable with and close to each other. It’s nice to see CXX relax because of Yuwen.

The only thing stuck in my mind when watching this drama is that both their houses are beautiful especially SXF…
Right? and the books! Both households have bookworms and educated people so the set design where books are everywhere was so spot on. I also liked how in Shen Xifan’s, her dad has a little nook where he usually grades his students’ test papers as he’s an English teacher. They were so accurate at how teachers still often bring work at home like checking test papers.

Now at episode 5, this show keeps making me laugh. I love it so far! I thought I’m going to struggle as I just finished Love Between Lines but this show has a different color and Wang Yuwen just connects to the audience in a special way, you keep wanting more of her. Also, Chen Xingxu is, as always, handsome and great at his every role. Although there are similarities with his prior roles, I feel like Gao Haiming is a total different person which made me enjoy watching this more.

Thank you for the heads up! A friend watched SOM while it was airing and couldn’t get into it until a few episodes later, then she became obsessed.
I guess this is a common reaction after all.

True. What a great start of the year indeed.
I have yet to watch SOM, and have sadly dropped SAL as I didn’t feel comfortable with the premise but I truly understand the hype.
Hopefully I could also get into SOM as how everyone else did.

This looks so low budget is it just me from the pictures I'm seeing...anyone know what tier drama this is?
Hmm, I think it’s just you.
From the get-go, this production already screams high budget.
I can feel the pressure as well since they’ve been having a lot
of reuters since pre-production which made the audience anticipate a lot as we’ve been seeing good content from TLOA filming.

2026/02/07Actress Zhou JieQiong will wrap up her filming today. She played Lan Qing, longtime confidante of ChangXuan’s…
Excited for her, she apparently got casted as Yang Yang’s FL in his costume drama come back. At least it wouldn’t be too hard for her to adjust as she’s been staying in Hengdian for a while
now.

Ohhh we’re opposites on that part. I have rewatched TBT for at least 20 times, truly rewatched from eps 1-28, and found it as my new comfort drama.
LBL, on the other hand, though I just finished it, I already know that I can just look back on the clips but to really rewatch— maybe not. I love it though. Just not the kind of drama I would want to watch from start to end.

Title Love between Lines Spoiler
is there any kind of love triangle or even a hint of it?
For me, there was none.
The SML has his own sob story that involves FL but their lines never crossed.
FL never showed interest and SML never openly confessed until perhaps the last bit when he truly needed to.

This was definitely an easy-watch if you’d pace your viewing well— breaking it down according to the stages of the story.

I loved how they introduced first the tenant-landlord trope though I got irked a bit with how involved the landlord was on her tenant. I thought I’d also cringe so much during the boss-employee trope as office romance is my hatest genre but they’ve managed to portray it well that professional boundaries and ethics were still there.

The revenge trope was also done well, not over the top angst that one can manage to finish watching it in one go, along with the rest of the family/emotional scenes.

The leads’ friendship with the side characters was also well-executed. In fact the spotlight on the side characters at the early parts of the show was a good choice as nothing’s going on yet with the leads, the viewers needed a necessary pull and the side characters definitely served that.

Overall, this is a very interesting and refreshing drama. One that you can’t help but rewatch, and even feast on the romantic clips as they’re just too romantic in the loveliest way. It definitely made everyone feel so single!!
It’s also funny how The Best Thing is one of the recommended dramas as it’s exactly the drama I’ve been thinking about with how both excelled in showing an organic encounter with the leads and how natural the pace was of them falling in love, showcasing how relationships with good foundation are the best kind.

Definitely a 10/10! 🎉

ohhh I see. Thank you for this info. 💕
Understandable choice as Cici’s not a Mandarin-speaking native. She hails from a province far from the capital.

Didn’t Cici dub her parts? There was an interview when she shared that during the dubbing for He Su Ye’s birthday scene, she couldn’t help but cry so much as she really pitied him.
