For me, there was none. The SML has his own sob story that involves FL but their lines never crossed. FL never showed interest and SML never openly confessed until perhaps the last bit when he truly needed to.
This was definitely an easy-watch if you’d pace your viewing well— breaking it down according to the stages of the story.
I loved how they introduced first the tenant-landlord trope though I got irked a bit with how involved the landlord was on her tenant. I thought I’d also cringe so much during the boss-employee trope as office romance is my hatest genre but they’ve managed to portray it well that professional boundaries and ethics were still there.
The revenge trope was also done well, not over the top angst that one can manage to finish watching it in one go, along with the rest of the family/emotional scenes.
The leads’ friendship with the side characters was also well-executed. In fact the spotlight on the side characters at the early parts of the show was a good choice as nothing’s going on yet with the leads, the viewers needed a necessary pull and the side characters definitely served that.
Overall, this is a very interesting and refreshing drama. One that you can’t help but rewatch, and even feast on the romantic clips as they’re just too romantic in the loveliest way. It definitely made everyone feel so single!! It’s also funny how The Best Thing is one of the recommended dramas as it’s exactly the drama I’ve been thinking about with how both excelled in showing an organic encounter with the leads and how natural the pace was of them falling in love, showcasing how relationships with good foundation are the best kind.

Didn’t Cici dub her parts? There was an interview when she shared that during the dubbing for He Su Ye’s birthday scene, she couldn’t help but cry so much as she really pitied him.
I love the leads but it’s so hard to follow the story. I’m still on ep 2 and the FL does not act like a lawyer. Come on, being a lawyer builds within you the confidence to at least keep your chin up high at work or with anyone. This FL acts like she didn’t pursue college at all.
Some of his fans don’t like her as there are hints that they could be secretly dating.
It’s simply because he’s really the most popular traffic actor now, and bankable too that everyone has their own bets for him. Some would go as far as making baseless dating rumors.
I personally love his chemistry with Xu Ruohan and I hope they’d get a reunion project soon. The rest of his pairings just pale in comparison to his chemistry with her.

Mom and Dad found out about the breakup about three months since it happened and they saw how at peace their daughter was with that decision, and even moved on to doing far better things for herself, so why the need to patch them up?

It’s kinda full circle for He Su Ye’s character though. He wasn’t able to save his mom before for obvious reasons, so at least he got to save Xifan’s. Also, it made him face his trauma and came out of it well- he handled his emotions better too unlike when there was another trigger moment for him with a Mom patient whose child opted for a comfortable exit instead of pushing through with the treatment plan devised by He Su Ye. He was really pissed at that and made him relapse.
Another thing, wouldn’t it be nice to finally see expansively how Oncological TCM works? We merely had hits and pieces of it in prior episodes but to finally follow a patient going through it from the start was truly nice to see. It made the show’s purpose more apparent considering how they’ve been advocating for TCM and western medicine to work together.
