I'm on episode 8 and my only note is that doctor lady needs to mind her business! Not the most annoying support…
Sadly, I read that that Doctor is the author’s story. This story was adapted from a novel and it was mentioned that she was like her who fell in love with someone who was happily in love with someone else.
I’ve watched several dramas of ZLH before but I never like him in any of them, but him in this drama is EVERYTHINGGGGG.Like…
I feel like ZLH can show his acting skills more in modern dramas. And perhaps, it also helped that his method for this drama was to fall in love in and out of cam (he kinda explained it in a certain variety show when asked how he was able to film all those kissing scenes with the FL). Had it been a costume drama, he would have limited himself based on the script.
Also, I feel like the mix of everything good about this drama brought out his happy aura more to the screen, it’s more palpable making him more appealing and handsome. The BTS showed that the filming was fun, the filming crew and staff were basically shippers and just following along to the adlibs that ZLH would suggest, plus the leads kept on bickering. It seems that ZLH also enjoyed teasing Rouhan. That kind of filming atmosphere just really brings out someone’s potential more.
As a medical professional, what I love about this show is how it advocates that TCM and Western medicine should go hand in hand, that the patient’s well-being should be the priority. I also like how the ML’s research centers on the palliative care for patients through TCM. This just hit the right spot for me.
Can anyone tell me why her and her parents are so formal with eachother? Calling her mrs shen instead of their…
Just like how they explained it to Professor Yu, it’s their own family’s way of expressing affection. The Dad is an English teacher who had to teach kids about properly addressing people the Western way so they might have made fun of it and applied it to their own family. It’s not cultural although I noticed that healthy Chinese families have their own family traditions, being so creative considering that they are relatively small in numbers. usually just one or 2 kids. trying to express affection more.
I want to watch and like it but ML is a quack. Like for f sake - "the cancer patient can't breath so let's…
Reading comments like this makes me in awe of how many ignorant people still like spewing nonsense online. The internet has a lot of materials for you to check to educate yourself and yet you chose to comment first about the ML being a quack instead of researching.
this drama is not bad, the plot is simple and easy to watch but it suffers from too many flashbacks and filler…
hi, not to antagonize you but I was shocked to read about you saying that the FL cannot cry with tears. She perfectly cried in every crying scene and there were a lot of tears, most even dramatically cascading from her eyes. Did you perhaps not watch it in Dolby 4K quality? we have that option in iQIYI and everything was clear and noticeable. Makes you appreciate the cinematography even more.
Deliberately watched this to finally get to know Zhang Ling He but boy, oh, boy, I wasn’t prepared for his visual! His face card is serving every second he’s on cam.
I don't get the 10-year absence thing... It doesn't make any sense - considering the bond they built over the…
I find the 9 year gap understandable though. Some of us do not with to return home if it’s not to stay there forever. Visiting is hard and painful for some who truly wish to go home permanently.
This was the case for Ziqiu. And overtime we found out that apart from his ego, the financial aspect was also holding him back considering that he was no longer receiving support from his bio dad.
As for Ling Xiao, while he has the access to money, his guilt for leaving Little Orange with their Mom eats him up all the time that he no longer attempted to return until she’s mature enough to deal with her.
I understand there were so many scenes that evoked discomfort but I still would like to give this show a 10 for being able to introduce as many conflict as possible mimicking the realities of found families— why they are the way they are, the effects of unresolved trauma to a child, consequences of poor decisions, etc.
Yes, they all needed therapy; yes, the 9-year gap was uncomfortable, but any average Asian household can relate. Not everyone has access to therapies especially if the persons involved are in denial, and that not everyone can afford to travel leisurely. Some are just getting by though there are some who may be able to afford it but are just waiting for the other party to return whenever they are truly ready.
This show was so relatable and comforting that I can’t help but recommend it to anyone who needs to heal a part of them vicariously through the characters.
I love him! There are many who had a hard time moving on with him in their heads 😂
thank you!! will be checking these soon. currently obsessed with Liu Yuning after watching The Prisoner of Beauty. These c-drama actors are really good!
Just finished. Videos spoiled the ending for me but I still wasn’t prepared for how each moment unfolded. I CRIED SO HARD 😭😭😭😭
Never have I been this invested in a historical drama in years. Made me go back to this genre that I love so much. Thank you, TPOB!
And I would also like to say how amazing the character designs were on Liu Yuning (ML) and Song Zuer (FL). When the show started, it was really obvious that they were young (less than 20yo) and as the show progressed, their bodies also matured along with their character. In the later episodes, you can see the ML having very broad shoulders and muscular appearance, the neckline was just so different compared to the earlier episodes. Manman also appeared to have put on weight. I really liked how believable they looked.
What I love as well, was how equally captivating the other characters were. The story did not mainly focus on the main couple. It made us fall in love with the people they love and that to me is just beautiful.

yes!! I almost cried 😭 it had a different kick in me. like my heart was getting wrung. I need to see more of his performances. Plus he’s good in variety shows too, apparently.

I hope you give this show a chance. I have been rewatching it for the third time now and I find it loving it even more.
