That would make sense because of the NRTA regulations, which state that a maximum of 45 minutes for 40 episodes - we have exceeded that several times and had up to 57 minutes for one episode. The regulations also specify the maximum broadcast minutes for all episodes. So in my opinion, it would make sense for the NRTA to say something to the effect that the drama has to reduce the number of episodes. Which I also find strange at the same time, since the drama is also reviewed by the NRTA before airing.
If they cut the romance scenes I am done with that show and those directors will forever being on my list of drama…
I was very surprised that the series was released in this way, as some of the episodes were cut at 57 minutes. The specification says (if I remember correctly) max. 45 minutes for 40 episodes. Which might explain why we only have 36 episodes. They had to cut it down according to the regulations so as not to exceed the maximum time. I would be as angry as you are.
I don’t believe the drama is cut from 40 to 36 episodes. I watch airing dramas all the time and on the calendars…
Yes, they hinted at this in the original plan. Many fans are already complaining about it on Weibo. I'm a bit surprised, because according to the new guidelines that have been in place since 2022, the entire series will be reviewed and the rules have become stricter. I would therefore be very surprised by this move, as it would require a separate release.
Fans on Weibo address their dissatisfaction directly on Weibo regarding the reduction in episodes. I had to laugh reading some of the comments, as they skilfully get to the heart of the matter. After Youku released the new airing calendar, there's a massive backlash on Weibo. Here are a few of the comments (Some used idoms, what was even funnier):
"I was angry that this is the first time I've brazenly cursed people out on my official blog."
"Add more."
“Can you please stop cutting the updates? I'm speechless.”
“It's just not enough, that's why I'm protesting the reduction in the number of updates!”
"Are you crazy?" (The character used in this context was 病 - which means sick - I really had to laugh – 你有病吧)
“Can you leave it be? What? If you want more updates, add more otherwise leave the show alone. I'm used to your bad habits. Where did you learn how to schedule updates? If it becomes popular, you're just taking advantage of us, the audience, aren't you?”
“Your behaviour in setting up and changing the broadcast schedule is just like my work schedule. Yuck!”
“Are you sick? Die in hell!”
“Why are you cutting back on episodes instead of hitting while it's hot? That's really disgusting.“
Actually I saw constant progress in the OTP relationship. Just in ep 28, their conversation was a good one, showing…
Now I am very glad, that I asked beforehand, if you want to know them. Because yes, they are stressful, but I am very sure, that there is more to it. :-)
This is a very lovely edit - please be aware that these are spoilers ofc, so if someone doesn't want to get spoilers better not watch it. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGebsF28P/
00:35 It is also mentioned, when JL and XH are sitting in the carriage while holding hands, that the emperor has granted a marriage between JL and SYR.
But ofc we won't know, when exactly we will see these parts. But I guess it is somehow related to the spoiler from ep 29, where the emperor asks XH if he is emotionally involed... Just my thoughts - ofc I have no idea, when we will see these scenes.
Let's wait and see... He always, at least what I have seen so far. He is very very pationate about his work. So in my opinion he has the right to lament.
The Jiang mansion was rocking today like Linda Blair from the Exorcist. So many truths were revealed. We knew…
I guess after Tong'ers death (it is said, that the actress needed to go back to school, since she is only 15 years old) XH and JL will grow closer to eo, since JL only has him to depend on. And that is why there might be a treat for us in it.
Just watched the first episode, it wasn't bad but the first episode was mostly a copy of "The Princess Wei Young"…
It's an adaptation of a book. And palace dramas tend to have similar plots. I watch the mentioned ones and have to say, neither of them got me hooked as this one does!

00:37 - The emperor says, that the chess piece can't be kept and Xiao Hong answers, that she isn't a chess piece anymore...

In the book JSR dies from poisoning.
