I know the part in regards to trusting as good as it comes. Unfortunately it changes you and interactions with any kind of ppl. Because you will never easily trust anyone in your life.

But in my opinion he didn't see their interactions as transactions already before, but she also started to mention the transactions and therefore he reacted to it.

He was in episode 28, but I suspect that viewers literally forgot about him because they weren't together for long - it was only at the beginning of the episode. But it was clear from their conversation that he wasn't going to make a second appearance. I really can't understand them.

I like slow burning romances too and for me this is it. I'm sure the director and screenwriter will stick with the happy ending for the book. Maybe they won't have a child yet, but the happy ending is more important to me, and hey, they're getting married in episode 36. So I suspect we'll see some more intimate interaction between the two soon - I've seen some interesting spoilers....

They feel that they can trust each other and see eye-to-eye and say what they think without fear that either of them will judge a statement negatively in any way. In a romantic relationship, shared values such as justice should not be underestimated, as both want the truth to be revealed.
Both realise that they are playing a dangerous game, yet they try to support and protect each other in subtle ways, no matter how dangerous it might become.
They argue constructively, as each is equally allowed to express their opinion to the other. Through such interactions, harmony and happiness can slowly emerge.
This form of romance portrayed in the drama is a much more mature form and has nothing to do with the more physical kind. Of course it plays a role, as they are probably seeking it - in the case of Xiao Heng, you can definitely see it through his small gestures.

And to quote Zeefaa:
"These are to me very serious feelings and the definition of romance considering the fact that the FL is a betrayed and traumatized woman ( not to mention still officially married) who may just not be able to handle more of it for the time being."

If someone has been traumatised by a situation with their partner, they will always be wary of trusting someone too quickly or letting their emotions get the better of them. When she later takes Xiao Heng in her arms or kisses him, you can clearly tell that she has put the past behind her and is ready to enter into a new relationship with someone who will not throw her away (i.e. want to kill her), but is prepared to give everything he has for her.
