You shouldnt watch something where the focus is obviously bdsm play if you feel so against bdsm play. Its that…
Fetishes that aren't healthy for people are the ones that affect their daily lives and their ability to conduct themselves in society. It's not rocket science.

Too much positive comments, but why low ratings?
8.2 isn't low lol. It's mostly because those who liked it really liked it and those who didn't like it really didn't like it.

Bold of you to assume that being happily into BDSM and doing therapy are mutually exclusive

To the folks wondering about the rating here on MDL "~why is this rated R~", Netflix in Canada rates it TV-14,…
In my country it has +16 rating, wich basically means "not for children but relatively tame compared to +18 content" which sounds about right lmao

Title Love and Leashes Spoiler
This feels a little misleading, because there are plenty of spicy scenes in the movie. They just aren't explicitly…
Yeah I definitely was not expecting sex scenes at all, but the BDSM scenes were incredibly intimate and sensual, much more so than explicit sex scenes I've seen in other movies. I definitely don't think the movie is negatively affected by not having sex scenes in the slightest.

I just watched it and if you're planning on watching it because of the R rating and expect some spicy scenes you'll…

It's not a movie about a marginalized community, it's a romcom made to be released on Valentine's Day.
Aww sorry for my other reply, there is so little good representation of female doms and male subs that I've become protective of this movie almost immediately. I hope you get a movie you like as much as I liked this one too!

There are plenty of mature scenes, just not explicit sex scenes.
That may be your personal preference, I am more than okay with suggestion over explicit sex scenes.

Very unrelated but does anyone else notice the difference in the MDL font? It's changed, hasn't it?
It has! It looked one way this morning and it changed a few hours ago

People who are into BDSM are not marginalized, they may have people being prejudiced against them or think they are perverts or something similar, but that does not make them a marginalized community. And furthermore, if you want to delve into what this movie talks about that is 'important' aside from BDSM, it tackles gender discrimination in the workplace, patriarchal expectations in men that force them to fake a personality that makes them unhappy to not be judged, and the dangers of running into a person who doesn't respect your boundaries and is willing to r*pe you just because they think they have a right to your body because of your sexual preferences.

Sincerely, the R rating barely fits. The drama lacked mature scenes between the leads.
There are plenty of mature scenes, just not explicit sex scenes.

wouldve been even better if they also showed a little bit of how aftercare is important!! but honestly lets go…
I totally feel you because aftercare is very important and also something I love to see, but I do think the scene where she is taking care of his wounds does a good enough job of implying that her taking care of him afterwards is the norm for every session. And their scenes after a session are framed in a way that, in my opinion, shows she is taking very good care of him 😊 I also feel like aftercare where she comforts him might confuse people who are new to BDSM. At that point they are not dating so I think it could've blurred the lines of understanding for the audience. They did an excellent job of covering as much of the basics as they could, truly

I think you may be confusing sensual with sexual-- because the movie is very, very sensual 😂 And I am glad…
Oh for sure is on the tamer side, because it's more about a romantic relationship that has BDSM sprinkled on it. For example Netflix's comedy show Bonding is more hardcore when it comes to its portrayal of BDSM cause its main lead is a Dominatrix

actually though it is a netflix project, due to the fact that it's main viewer is sk which is quite a conservative…
I agree! Also I think a movie is bound to reach more people internationally as well. A lot of people are reluctant to commit to a series but a romance movie is much more approachable

I had to change the rating I gave to the music in my review from 7.5 to 10 because I had thought that the music wasn't memorable because I couldn't remember any of it after watching it for the first time-- but it turns out I couldn't remember any music because it's done so well and so organically; the songs aren't overpowering at all and compliment the scenes perfectly. God I love this movie

Because he was so vulnerable and it was the culmination of years of shame and fear over what he truly likes. He thinks she is too good to be true :( Lee Jun Young is an amazing actor
