Rape is always wrong and I’m genuinely baffled that some of you need that reminder every two seconds.That being said, this series is a dark romance and it should be treated as such. People are going to discuss the characters while fully aware of the horrible things they’ve done or will do, because that’s literally the point of engaging with this kind of fiction.What I’m tired of is the constant moral policing every single time someone comments on the relationship dynamics without stopping every five words to clarify “btw abuse is bad irl.” We know. Everybody with basic critical thinking skills knows.Some of us are capable of consuming toxic fictional relationships without collapsing into discourse mode or acting like readers personally endorse every action on screen/page. He was beaten almost daily with a bat (crazy behavior. his father genuinely should’ve been in jail for the abuse tbh), he was shipped off to America, and not once did he give up on his love for Yi Chen. Even now, after being threatened with being cut off from the inheritance, he still chose Yi Chen all over again.
And then Yi Chen shows up ready to marry someone else just because his mother insisted? Hell no. I completely understand why Lu Feng snapped. After everything he sacrificed and gave up for love, that’s the reward he gets?
