Girl you're halfway through btw...
You accept or not. The script is a complete mess, trying to tackle too many things while creating numerous subplots that are dull and irritating to watch. Sorry to say, but it’s supposed to be a feel-good rom-com—where’s the comedy?

For your info I have been watching dramas for 5 years, so I know where it's going & how it's going to end, it's not a rocket science. & the leads are my fav actors. It's my honest and constructive criticism because it's disappointing & sad to watch it.

I think Seok Ryu has some brain problems also? Does she really need two men at the same time? Joking aside, what a disaster the scriptwriter has created. It’s a complete mess, with unnecessary dragging and too many subplots.

it's clearly a slow burn romance, it's probably not your thing. Moving from friends to lover quickly and easily…
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and I appreciate hearing your perspective as well. Just to clarify, I’ve been watching K-dramas for 5 years too, and I don’t hate this drama—how could I, when my favorite actors are in it? I’m just disappointed. If someone asked me to re-watch it, I probably wouldn’t. As for romantic melodramas, I’ve watched plenty, including two of Jung Hae In’s and So Min’s dramas, and I love them with all my heart. This one's supposed to be a rom-com, but I just don’t feel the "com"—it feels forced, and it’s not making me laugh. A recent example of good comedy is the ongoing drama *No Gain No Love*. Still, thanks for sharing your view! I now have a bit more insight into your preferences.

I get what you're saying.
It’s not about the romance, or lover thing but the screenplay—it’s dull and not engaging at all. Why always bring back the exes for both leads to show the jealousy, i mean why? The male lead's ex returns, and then the female lead's ex comes back too—it's a complete mess. The male lead feels weak, and there’s no chemistry. We're at Episode 7, and they’re still dragging out the same storyline, with many unnecessary scenes that could’ve been cut. Also, why always show the Korean male lead as clueless, like when he buys so many ointments? There are better ways to show care. These small details need to be polished, especially when it’s a drama with a big cast that’s bound to get a lot of attention.

I'm just shocked. How can the writer make such a big mistake, thinking people will buy into it? The story is stuck in a loop, not moving forward, and the characters aren’t developing. I really want to know the Korean people's views on this drama. Are they relating to it?

Wdym? Are u telling me this is not how 30yo behave ? I am shocked 🤣
Yes, that's true. Nine out of ten dramas are like that, and honestly, it's getting boring. I've been watching K-dramas for about five years now, and finding something unique and different has become really difficult. What's worse is when people whose work I've admired and liked in the past end up doing something mediocre—it really hurts and disappoints more than anything else.

By the way, I'm not in my 30s, so I can’t say for sure. But being in my 20s, I can’t relate to it at all. What about you?

The main problem of this drama is trying to be funny, trying to feed us that we should laugh in this scene, which is actually not the case at all. That's the biggest drawback of it.

The childish characterisation is grating on me too! Getting too annoying to watch!

I highly recommend you to watch No Love No Gain
Yes, bro... I’m enjoying every bit of "No love no gain"—my current favorite. That’s how rom-com dramas should be. Sure, there are some minor flaws and imperfections, as in any drama, but I’m not even focused on them. It’s superbly paced and highly engaging.

What is going on here? This feels so immature, and I already know how it’s going to end—same stereotypical, strategic screenplay. Nothing new, nothing fresh. I just tortured myself for an hour, excluding the child actor’s scenes. The supporting cast scenes are great, and I’m enjoying every bit of them, but the male lead’s scenes are dull and not engaging at all. Seung Ho is just pathetic, and I feel so bad for him, but I don’t get his character’s motivation at all. It feels like I’m watching the same thing on repeat, which isn't what I signed up for. I'm heavily disappointed. The worst characterization of both leads, so childish. Why market it as a rom-com when there’s no comedy at all, just melodrama? One of my favorite actors is in it, but I don’t think I can tolerate this any longer. Story is moving like tortoise & screenplay don't know what to do.

After watching Episode 4: After the decent first two episodes, yes, that's how it's done. Both the 3rd and 4th episodes are very good, but, as the genre suggests romance and comedy, there aren't many comedy scenes. Only situational comedy, which is good, but the overall drama gives a good vibe. It's more about self-discovery, slice of life, romance, and drama. As expected, Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min are doing a brilliant job with their characters, and every department clicks well. Just one complaint: we need to see more footage of the second lead couple. They are really hilarious and make the scenes light-hearted.
On No Gain, No Love Aug 26, 2024
Genuinely speaking, this is the best episode I've watched recently. I'm a huge fan of Jung Hae-in, but Love Next Door is running good but didn't satisfy me enough entatainment wise. However, this drama seems solid with a well-constructed screenplay. The comedic punches land effectively, and the direction, editing, and music are all on point. I found no issues with the first episode at all, and most importantly, it's very entertaining to watch. Best ongoing drama i would day.

"I believe this drama isn't resonating with me; the screenplay feels repetitive, inspiration from many hit dramas, and I find it hard to engage with. The comedic scenes seem forced, and while some moments are decent, they don't quite meet the mark. I had high expectations for Shin Hyun Been, especially after her performances in Reborn Rich and Tell Me That You Love Me. I'm genuinely disappointed that she chose this project."

I agree, the reasonings I don’t like it so far is all the physical violence and the female lead character. And…
Yes, you're right. It has a lot of scenes with common reference points from many old dramas, which makes it seem like it's not original work. That's why the interest I want to feel or generate is lacking—because I've seen these scenes so many times before.

After watching 2eps
It's good, you know. It's really good in every department. I wouldn't say it's great, but it's doing justice to the story and I'm having good time. However, something is missing; my heart doesn't feel full. I can't quite put it into words, but I can feel it. In these two episodes, something seems to be lacking, or maybe my expectations are just too high. I'm not sure!.
Anyone wants to add anything?

yes I agree. Actually, my expectations from the series were a little high. I skipped the second episode and watched…
Yep, my expectation is also sky high as both of my fav actors are in it. And i hope they keep the momentum & pace of the drama carry-on till last and I'm expecting the screenplay to be more engaging without compromising the characterisation which is looking good.
