I have a question: Is this show popular because of the second male lead?
It got popular because of the webtoon, Eunwoo, and Gayoung, and Yoo Na. In Yeop was not really known much before the drama but he got really popular after the drama aired.
So its mostly popular because of an original source and the great cast.
I hate Seok yeong the most rn, why? Because for the others i have a good reason on why i dislike them but Seok young is just an annoying bratty teenager who only gets shit out of her mouth. Like please just shut up.
Nah, not much different in both but the lack of comedy making me bored watching Mairunovich.
True Beauty did show Jugyeong gaining confidence but the way it was executed seemed rush and unrealistic. Like honestly half the contribution was because of two guys.
Suddenly when were we all experts in casting? Okay sorry but i honestly think instead of making such assumptions…
Ik many rookie actors who started it off and did pretty well for their roles. I think the ones you really bring up are Idol actors which i can understand why they shoulden't just be cast as a lead role but i don't see what's such an issue for this. Its a whole complicated process and its not really right (in my opinion) to judge an actual actor before a drama airs. We need to give people chances, instead of blatantly making assumptions...
Man rookie actresses runing dramas, when will these casting airheads remember that giving a main role to a just…
Suddenly when were we all experts in casting? Okay sorry but i honestly think instead of making such assumptions before the drama, we need to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe shes a really great actor and got the lead role. Lets just wait and see.
she doesn't end up with seojun in the webtoon either, at least here he doesn't deal w a break up
I didn't mention anything about the drama, i was solely talking about the webtoon and how its execution was a failure. I was talking about Jugyeong in the webtoon. You brought the drama up so i had to talk about it as well. I'm glad the drama took it in a different direction and it focused on Jugyeong and Suho but it guilt tripped the viewers with Seojun and i found that route quite cheap but a drama is a drama, and i don't really care anymore lol. It still got its job done.
You shouldn't feel wrongful for liking something probably others don't as much. I actually completely get your point and i can see your preference is more of this type. Theres many people who also share similar tastes as you just like how others, not really.
Personally, this romance is just not for me. I appreciated it but i did not love it. A couple more like the ones in "Doctor Romantic kim 2" or the show "Run On" is more what i felt for. What really got me moving in this drama was the beautiful friendships and how they grow and healed as people. I think the character developments here were great but some messages and cliches were off put. Especially with Soojin. Its good but not great.
Anyways, thats that. I don't mean anything negative, i was just complaining about the webtoon.
this was so similar to my id is Gangnam beauty but i preferred this over that one , solely based on how funny…
i was actually able to understand the female lead in gangnam beauty. she was not only taunted, but struggled to the point she had to get plastic surgery, ultimately all this bullying and societal stereotypes influenced her to now be like the bullies herself, judging everyones beauty standard because thats what she has been told all her life, if u dont have the looks, then u are not worth it.
- so even tho i do like jugyeong more (because shes very selfless and non judgemental) the fl in gangnam beauty brought me closer to reality. the way others think can jump back on us, influencing us to fit in, and that can put stains into our confidence. so her confidence and speech being at the lowest was never surprising, i actually understood.
she doesn't end up with seojun in the webtoon either, at least here he doesn't deal w a break up
Thats what i'm saying this whole time. i loved their relationship! everything in the webtoon was going well in that point. and i for once thought hmm seojun, a 2nd lead who actually is more of the main lead, can finally get who he deserves. but nope, the webtoon author forced this weird non genuine feelings on jugyeong because she cant get over her first love (suho) when they never had much developement in their relationship like how seojun and jugyeong had..blah blah, everything gets more tangled, seojun is just more hurt in the end and jugyeong and suho don't know how to deal with their complicated feelings.
- its just too much. and thats why i dropped it as well.
I am actually kind of shocked how people disliked the second half. I liked it as as the first. I loved getting to know more of the concept of this game and how people were dealing with this for a long time. It gave me an eye opener on how this game is more deep than i assumed. I feel like if it were only focusing on the games, it would have gotten boring for me.
I also don't know why people expect so much from the first season. The first season consists of more of the journey and getting into this whole concept of the games and its impacts. Theres a second season for a reason... i don't know, i don't get what exactly people mean when they felt the the second half is cheap.
I also think the hatter guy was just a delusional guy who tried to make his despairs better with the concept of beach and how he's the ruler who grants people happiness. Like this game has been going on for so long that people are tied to the headlocks of it that they themselves don't know what they are doing and what to believe, so they fill in that part with temporary worldly sensations.
For me, the story was never that hard to understand but i did not expect everything to be explained in the first season. Theres only so much you can fit in 8 episodes and i think this show did well with its very limited time.
Quite upset with the plot after episode 8. Went downhill + too boring. I don't know how this is 8.5? Quite overhyped…
I agree. The friendships were sooo much more interesting than the romance in my opinion. I give it a 7 at the least. I don't get why people made True Beauty such a sensation but ig everyone has different tastes so whatever, i won't invalidate others opinions, as long as they don't invalidate mine.
So its mostly popular because of an original source and the great cast.
