The drama gets a lot of darker, but it's very good and everything will connect. All the scenes that seemed useless…
Ooh, I actually doubt that this will have a sad ending; mostly because of the wedding scene and it wouldn't really make sense at the moment to have it turn into death or not ending up together; although, who knows what might happen after the wedding? and I actually have the same question too ahaha, I was wondering how there might be a dark scene :0 because everything seems quite lighthearted so far
I'm curious your reason for wanting to drop this drama.
Ooh, there are quite some reasons actually :0 1) All the male forcing things that are getting way too much. I'm alright with a lot of men being attracted to Fu Rou, and I like that even Prince Zhou mentioned that he didn't want to force her by his side because he can't force feelings (originally ~ before the prince of liang came in). but, the amount of times that the Chu Mu attempts to kiss her kinda forcefully, Prince Zhou trying to get him to hug her, even the Zifang forcing her too is really getting too much. 2) The plot is getting nowhere. Pretty much so far: Fu Rou gets into the palace, a bunch of random court politics, Chu Mu constantly trying to get together with Fu Rou, that conflict with the Lu family (Duke of Cai), and I really do not see the direction that this is going. the number of times I was fast forwarding too ~ 3) the only romance I am rooting for is between Princess Xin nan and Sheng Chu Ling and also Prince Han & Consort Han. and then i saw the trailer, where Prince Han was holding on to Consort Han's seemingly-dead-body, sooo I'm really only hoping for the best. I am slightly curious about how it will be going with Fu Yin and Lu Qi but I could probably also see their ending in the last few episodes (I can't really see a completely happy ending for them). as for Zifang and Ying ying, it only shows how slightly naive she is (slightly kind of hero complex). and because I am all for happy endings, the fact that 2/3 of the romance I am looking towards doesn't seem to end good isn't too appealing for me to get attach to the drama 4) the romance between Fu Rou and Chu Mu. Their romance is just getting kind of tiring. and I'm honestly questioning whether they are continuing to like each other because of the thrill of not-being-able-to-be-together or actual love love. even Chu Mu's sudden change of character in the very beginning of the drama is honestly kind of weird. and I get that them running away would never have turned out to work but did Fu Rou really think that Prince Zhou will actually tell on her?
Tang Dynasty during Taizong's reign is my favourite period in Chinese history. The production values are very…
Ahhh, hmm, I like that idea of them portraying real characters! I never really researched more about these characters in this drama because I'm getting slightly frustrated at them, but I'll definitely check it out! I did see in a few comments below that the Crown Prince might have been attracted to men and in how the drama showed it too; perhaps there are more historical events that might reign my interest more! and one last comment, I definitely agree that there isn't much to be attached to in this drama ~
I'm enjoying the plot and the ensemble casts. The costumes of the males and females feel authentic, really loving…
ooh, the costumes are definitely a plus; though I actually find that most historical c-dramas almost always have an amazing costume and set up! I definitely agree that the tang period style is really nice too :) --> though the costumes isn't really keeping me because recently there's been a lot of dramas with excellent costumes ~
I'm more excited to see the other 3 couples than the main leads. Is that weird? LOL. Do you see any chemistry…
^^^ I agree with this completely; if anything, I'm looking forward to the progress of Princess Xinnan and Sheng Chu Ling, and the main leads interactions are kind of getting bit repetitive? (so I totally get how they are kinda boring)
Awww, wow!! This is really an amazing article that really does cover a lot (if not all) of the themes in the Long Ballad, and also common thoughts on historical dramas (ahaha, I'm personally someone who loves the historical drama soo~)! Anyhow, perhaps it is time I go rewatch it again :)
Hmm, I'm honestly tempted to drop this drama, and then maybe come back just for the last episode. For anyone who is currently enjoying this drama, are there anything that you are looking forward to?
Hmm, now that I think about it, I think it would honestly be good if the ending also included what happened with the Great Khan & how She er's life was afterwards & what happened with Mu jin & the rest of the Eagle camp too. i like the ending and it's not the typical completely open-ended endings, but I kind of what to know what will be the ending with the plains
wow, I can't believe I actually followed through the whole drama as it airs from the very 1st day it aired without dropping it :0 This drama really set a record for me; I don't think I've watched an airing drama from the very 1st episode without dropping it or putting it on hold for a later time before. For anyone who's thinking of watching this drama, I highly recommend it! (though the animations slightly bothered me; there's not too much of the animations soo)
omg, ahaha, I'm laughing so hard. Did anyone else laugh at that last scene in episode 49, where Ashina Sun was carrying Changge out of the fire? jeez, the animated fire and the 'walking' ahahaah
wait wait wait a second, how come some people are finished with the whole drama. Does anyone know where to watch episodes 43-49? I thought the next episodes air on Monday :0
Personally, I thought there's a lot of pointless deaths in the last episode, and I get that their deaths might…
Hmm, that's a good point! Everything did happen in one episode, so I suppose the impacts of their deaths aren't really seen. I think I was more pointing towards the way they died was unappealing; like someone also mentioned a few comments below, I was kind of expecting a plot twist, especially with han seo. And with han seo's death, it really could have been avoided. and though I get that Vincenzo went to Chayoung because he prioritized her and acted on an instinct, Vincenzo never really showed much romance throughout the film and for him to somewhat suddenly care for her instead of thinking of the large picture was a bit odd. Had he went for Junwoo, chayoung wouldn't have been injured and han seo wouldn't die like that.
as for the romance, I actually agree that I like that they didn't decide to switch it afterwards because switching it would have made it odd and not-really-working. and yes, it was nice that there wasn't sappy stuff that wouldn't have fit in with the drama. but I think the main thing I didn't really see about their romance is that it just seemed too much of a convenience in a way? like they were in together for a common goal, and I don't really see how they like about each other.
sjiosndsk honestly though, I am quite disappointed with how the story went in the last few episodes.
Personally, I thought there's a lot of pointless deaths in the last episode, and I get that their deaths might have made the drama more 'realistic' but throughout the film, we just have vincenzo that wouldn't finish it off because he wants to 'torture' the villains on a long term, which only led to more deaths. I could see that han seo might have died around the 3rd to last episode because a happy ending for him just didn't fit in, but even though I figured his ending might be bad, the way he died was not that appealing. Adding on to all that, Mr. Lee's death was just unnecessary too; like what would have made it more realistic if they had huge injuries, but he just died. and the ending was just empty.
I don't know if this is only me but I personally thought the romance was unnecessary. I know there is a lot about the 'power couple' but it honestly would have been great if they were just best friends of some sort.
