it's called having different opinions wtf! This is my first time watching this actress ever in a show. what I'm seeing from her is very disappointing and I am entitled to that opinion. Let's not kid ourselves about voice differences. we all know that there is an entire subset of actresses who infantilise their voices on purpose. I just don't get her voice and that is my preference but it wouldn't have been as grating if other actresses adopted the same mode of speech. if that's what they were going for.
So I finally got to watching this one. I am at episode 9 and so far comparable to something like the story of hua zhu, it is quite underwhelming. The acting, FL is disappointing. So the much talked about baby voice thing shouldn't feel grating if the supposed rationale is that all noble girls of that period spoke like that, but FL 's stands out when compared to her sisters and cousins so it doesn't sound like a thought out decision as much as it is esthetic. and I personally do not enjoy it. The FL should work more on her expressions and acting as a whole. Second the story: I guess what works against it is how much of it is deja vu from other better shows but it's still pretty entertaining on its own. The characters: - FL: Her character is the best yet, very rational and calm . I hope she stays this way till the end. - ML: I feel like I have seen the same character from the actor before (your are the one) . He is always a good actor so no issue there . but now as i am only at ep 9, his character isn't yet as fleshed out for me to judge yet. - women characters: I find myself at an age where I am no longer into gratuitous women fighting each other. I enjoy plots and petty schemes as much as the next person but I come to like more nuance in my character . so someone like that concubine is just one too many. Overall, I am excited to continue and will not rate just yet.
I just can't with the perfect make up after being on the run for so long then being kidnapped , fighting her way out and almost drowning in a lake . it's just ridiculous.
Dream of Splendor. Wonderland of Love, Blossom in Adversity. All have strong FL and good chemistry with ML
Hello , yep I have seen Who rules the world but was a bit disappointed that it was more about ML than FL . the story wasn't very balanced to me when they were supposed to share equal weight in the story. (also I read the novel and the focus was different). But yeah FL was pretty strong in that one š Legend of Fei and legend of shen Li both have an FL who can fight. I didn't like the former as I found the acting pretty lacking. But enjoyed legend of Shen Li.

I loved the show overall. a true story of equals. lead characters were incredibly well written. First I fell in love with the FL, hated the ML for a good amount of episodes but the show was great in giving the redemption arc enough time for it to feel earned. so ML ended up back in my good graces by the end. and showed why he deserved a great female character like FL. and I was fully onboard willing to accept nothing but a HE for our couple. what was especially great was that both ML and FL kept their wits till the end. which is a feat in itself in cdramaland. there was some issues though for me: - weak second characters love stories: I could care less about the romantic lines of the emperor and emperess or the good friends of the leads. I mostly skipped all their romantic scenes. and could only stomach their scenes when it had to do with the leads. but I did like the empress on an individual basis and the physician. - weak unoriginal villains: first the typical jealous exes especially stereotypical crazy women like binglan, her mother and consort xian and the comical villain that is Prince Sui. so the last episodes were a mixed bag for me as it dealt a lot with the villains.
Overall a 9/10. my favorite show and favorite leads of 2024. but yeah 1 point less due mainly to weak ending.

I was also thinking that it's not worth it to read comments anymore. as it adds no enjoyment to the experience I'm having with the show. next to some deeply misogynistic shit I have read sometime in the last few days, most of what I read today are novel spoilers or drama comparaisons (without spoiler tags) and those comments have multiplied. I never left a comment section before (and I survived LYF) but I just see no value in reading the same rants every episode. I mean I could also do rants about ML every episode on my side and there is a lot to say but I don't care to. others are free to post what they like but it's just too repetitive for me atp. So yeah peace out :)
how tf are we supposed to get our fix with only one episode at time. These last episodes were excellent: smart, dramatic and funny at the same time. I NEED MORE!
Actor playing ML is so f good. He outshone everyone in LYF and here he is excellent as well. I am enjoying these episodes the most seeing him suffering as he should (previews looking promising too lmao). The actor is GREAT at potraying sadness all while having a smile on. I loved how he is achieving so many things with few actions. these 2 episodes showed how much of a mastermind he is and why he was a worthy opponent if Lu Wen for so long.
Finally all those years we've been complaining for better FLs has paid off this year! WCR is phenomenal as LMT…
the character is so complex it would have become a caricature with a lesser actress. and hopefully we'll get more of these types of FLs now. I think outside of the mydramaliat bubble, this kinda character will resonate with more people looking for full fletched FLs
