I recommended this to my friend who never watched a chinese drama (or an asian drama that is) in her life. and she is at episode 13 in her second day. Says it's very unrealistic and dramatic but too complling to not continue watching . I did warn her 🤣🤣🤣

I was becoming quite disenchanted with the drama the last few days but I'm back and fully onboard with these last 2 episodes.
yang zi DELIVERED. what a powerful sincere performance. I shed tears and griefed with her the loss of jing all the way. which happens quite rarely for me cuz I rarely if ever cry watching dramas .
The way she described jing to CX facing his denigrations was so powerful as well. at least the person he loved understood how incredibly rare and beautiful the inner strength he has. In reality CX, though an incredibly smart and wise ruler, seem quite small compared to him.

I hate that A'nian is hang up on CX. she deserves waaay better. especially when RS IS RIGHT THERE! But I'm glad he doesn't like her back. he doesn't need his heart to be heartbroken . he has been one of the highlights for me since forever.

the war episodes could have been exciting showing us at least one battle of Fenlong and Ru Shou facing off but nah we get cartoon drawings and brief aftermath descriptions by some of the characters. I thought this show had enough budget but even some scenes look cheap now.

I don't know but I feel that there has been a drop in quality in season 2 all around. I don't remember the dubbing was this bad before either.

I have been reading the novel . I am at chapter 130. and I really can't see how this will get adapted. the FL and ML both do VERY questionable things..a lot of crazy people all around it isn't at all believable .
they have to water everyone down immensly for this to pass censorship. so curious to see how will this pan out

The ending was great. I was worried I'll get pranked like in scent of time but it wasn't the case. maybe this opens the door for time travel stories in the future without stupid gimmicks?
Anyway, the final showdown between ML and SML was pretty epic. I feel pretty good about everyone's fate. especially the FL's. Will rewatch once better subtitles are available.

yeah I got that much. but I just can't with that shot of them twirling while he rescues her. I'm sp over him at this point.

Like give my girl XY room to breathe. at least 2 episodes of her being happy. It was quite incredible seeing XY glowing after finally reuniting with jing. the breakup really took a toll on her and she was depressed for years. But then we have her again on the brink of a breakdown because of that rumor.

In that case I am afraid because the script ruins CX's character. the reveal about his actions is one the best things in the novel. if we don't have that in the drama . it will feel quite inferior to the novel.
crossing fingers that they don't do that.

can someone who read the leaked script tell me whether it's following it or not?
till now it is following the novel with some minor variations. so I hope they won't ruin it by going with that script.

I understand much better your point of view. thank you for clarifying it. at the end these are just characters and they are meant to illicit different emotions. I don't mean to guilt anyone for having different preferences. this is all fictional after all. I mean I used to love kylo ren and god knows he did much worse. 🤣
I am just saying that for me, XL's character in the context given doesn't work for me.

I find it so disingenuous to bring up Dahuang standards to justify abuse and try to compare it to jing's case cuz as a general rule of thumb, being SA's and forced to marry your assaulter is wrong by any standard.
and I would say qualifying "cheating" on your r**st as an "affair" wouldn't bode well with modern standards. And we wouldn't know about Dahuang standards because I haven't seen anyone yet in the show calling it an "affair" yet.
You bring up incidents of XL apologizing after the fact as if that makes it better. in my mind it makes it worse cuz it just proves he is capable of rational thought and knowing what he has done isn't acceptable... even by dahuang standards it seems.
But he can't help himself in the moment.
Having other instances of lucidity especially when it comes to people he don't feel passionaly about , and certainly not compared to XY , doesn't remove the anger issues he has.
maybe with his last moments I will feel better about him. but till then , I understand we have radically different outlooks here and I'll leave it at that.

as well who had a similarily tragic back story was just superbe! till his last scene he was incredible. a

Maybe basic decency lessons about how it's bad to be physically abusive towards women are more urgently needed for him .
Harsh words and his actions, telling her the truth about jing too are more than enough to drive her away. maybe treating her like an adult who is capable of making decisions as well. he didn't need that heart clenching attack . it just felt gratuitous and in line with his pattern of brief outbursts of violence towards her.
Also nah I remember how he easily snaps into devil mode with red eyes when she mentions his mentor and savior. so anger management can also benefit him .

Gong ziyu is still my favorite out of the three. That's my OG baby.
I had a difficuly with PWX with the earlier episodes but that speech he made to SGY when LR established the inspectorate office made me understand him and appreciate him .
