i hate the dynamic so much. i know his actions as a cruel tyrant have a double meaning (usually with an end result that helps her) but she does not know that so all she sees is a cruel indivisual with some cute moments but his core is tyranical so even if a romance ensues, it's a very bad power dynamic so i'm glad she goes back at the end ( they need a healthy start for their 2nd relationship (at least there is no fear of death or changing history here)

kinda explains why he was the best out of all in the celestial palace. his body's potential played a big role

this drama's only problem is this character honestly and all his actions are cutting pieces of enjoyment for the plot. The way everyone acts around him makes no sense. We can say the FL's is excused cz he's her childhood friend (tho it's a beena bit much) but what about the rest? he says "get out of the room" and they do (makes no sense cz the serpent lord didn't leave the previous time he was "healing the FL" so why leave now?) then he forces a core into her and everyone is just in shock and the repercussions to this is locking him in the city (not in prison still roaming around and threatening former colleagues) and scolding him for a bit. And our last hope (ML) only spars with him for a few mins and lets him roam free AFTER WHAT HE DID. Rather than repenting or i don't know have a slight understanding he just sacrifices himself for her? Do the authors not get the sacrifice play for villains only elicits emotions for us if the character has a reasonable cause/emotional background/ or at least a repentance arc?

Hmm true, my rant did include a lot of complaint, simply cz it’s been frustrating how the endings to such genres always end up the same way and it’s cz they have to end back in the modern world. Also, apologizes if it seemed like shouting, the intent of the caps lock was the emphasis on certain aspects of the sentences and not screaming cz at the end of the days it’s a comment section informing ppl of ur opinions and not forcing it on anyone. Also my contradiction isn’t really that; I was offering a suggestion for an extra episode for further explanation or in the modern world (which hasn’t been done before) to allow for them to not go against regulations cz it’s unrealistic to think they ever will ( which is why it was suggested AFTER complaining about the regulations). And to explain what I meant by “is this a happy ending? No” is the fact that many regard this as a happy ending or basically the fact that many endings of this genre end the same way with them starting at one another and magically remembering so they’ll eventually be together (slight open ending with a happy outlook) . My opinion is this is in fact not really a happy ending but a rushed, unexplained ending that ruins the end taste of a drama.
Again not trying to be rude, just putting out my frustrations (without insulting anyone) as this is the point of these discussion portals. To find like minds who either like or complain about the same stuff.
I gave this 9.5 btw, the entire plot was amazing and the ending was infact (as I said before) less unreasonable on the FL’s side but not on the ML’s which is why an extra episode to explain or even an epilogue would’ve been enough so that the FINAL feel of it all would’ve been a 10 but the rushed arc by the end coupled with the ending didn’t make it work.

who the hell cares about a happy ending? i'm talking reasonable and not rushed endings. the guy's smiling and happy like he remembers her which makes no sense cz he didnt go to the other world and if somehow sima jiao found a way to her and that is them why not show it? all the other time travel/transmigration dramas in china end the same way regardless of how it started or the plot (back in modern world with her/ him remembering and a smile , my problem is EXPLAIN HOW) which ruins the satisfaction of a good plot at the end of the story hence why no transmigration/time travel dramas are truly considered masterpieces (is my meaning so they have masterpieces just not in this genre) cz their true potential is ruined. Which is proven with how the novel is better portrayed than the drama as the ending is the only big difference.

2ndly open/ sad endings are welcomed like "love between fairy and devil"/"till the end of the moon" and so on AND they're masterpieces cz they don't have the issue of being unreasonable

This drama shows us that even with top-notch A-listers and perfect acting, a bad plot ruins a series. The backstory had potential but their modern life sucks and their decision-making AFTER centuries does not fit them one bit. feels like kids or just the vibe and character writing is without substance, which is such a waste for these actors/actresses

tho i must say the rest of the show was spectacular! The best relationship dynamic and the equality in every sense of the word was so beautiful. They both understand one another by being in the other's shoe so by the end they are soulmates in every sense. THE ACTING, THE DIRECTING, THE CHEMISTRY, THEY ATE

china's regulations need to change or they will never make masterpieces cz of botched endings. At least this time the FL's return was the smoothest but it never makes sense how the partner magically remembers and they didnt even attempt with this ML, it was just a stare and smile. IS THIS A HAPPY ENDING? NO. at least show us how she explains herself or how their relationship starts in this world for once; an extra episode for that would be a nice touch and it wouldn't be against their regulations instead of these half-hearted 2 min "oh he's my ML/FL here as well"

him being around is not the issue, it's the way she's handling him cz he should NOT be by her side this long (even as a final villain) 18 years of friendship go down the drain with the amount of distrustful actions he's done especially what he did to her body recently (which i guess is the final straw for her but too little too late )all could've been avoided or at least done by him as a villain in her eyes and not her friend/subordinate whom she allows to still act this way with no reprecausions

the rant is for the FL's only flaw which is her leadership skills in regards to shu and the way she deals with him however EVERYTHING else is perfect. the second lead is perfectly following his role of a delusional prick but my only issue is the way the FL's handling it that ends up affecting the rest of the story cz he CAN BE DELUSIONAL BUT NOT BY HER SIDE FOR THIS LONG even as a final villain, he broad and scheme as far away from her if she just removes these rose colored glasses she has with him. Otherwise the whole show's worth it

HOW IS SHU STILL IN THE FUCKING PICTURE!!!! any leader would've kicked out the delusional guy a long time ago. he "played childish tricks" to make her husband suspisious, super insubordinate. confessed to you and couldn't take no for an answer. blatantly expressed hatred for humans rivaling the demon fiend. freaking prepares another body for you without informing you of that plan which u turn down (after he explains u won't need human ties and ur family doesn't matter) super rude and not knowing his place. is super touchy with u after rejecting him but takes any chance to swoop u away in his arms (in front of her husband i might add) whenever u're sick/fall. doesn't inform you of the husband's identity to inflict the most pain on u when u find out so u can leave ur husband ("u'll only believe me if u see it urself") and now uses a forbidden art to turn u demonic after ur express wishes to NOT TO DO THAT while in a very vulnerable state in front of this untrusworthy BOOK. in the name of him being an essential suordinate ( what has he contributed to ur city after his confession???? trying to find a cure for u?? giving him access to do what he wants to ur body??? where is this trust coming from?) he is not ur childhood friend anymore . Also if the prison is really his fate then i do not see that as a happy ending unless he is forced to watch her life with her hubby and child LIVE while in prison to torment him.

The Kopiko ads are so cringe and in need of toning down cz it's not even smooth, "it's not coffee but take this, hmmm it's delicious" while nodding and in surprise. Come on, it was done like every episode. they could be smoother cz it's ruining the quality of many shows

ok i'm gonna vent a bit cz i do not like what they've done with the FL. Her personality is fine and as a cat lord she is fit for the role but as a leader of the whole demon city, not even close. she is the type of leader who likes to be on the front lines (capturing the demons who ran off ONLY) then delegates everything to others cz she trusts her subordinates so much (albiet blindly) with no questions on what happens next or anything. she doesn't know her cousin's dead (cz of a murderous delusional subordinate) knowing he was exiled unofficially so technically he could be scheming something else ( which he was but only stopped cz he was killed) and the rat lord who happens to be resurricted by the same murderous subordinate who released a dream demon after she handed him over to said subordinate AFTER he expressed murderous thoughts towards humans and you supposedly lost a bit of trust. Apparently, he's been killing demons for your elixir (she still doesn't know of these missing demons) and somehow NOW WHEN HE SAYS THERE IS A WAY TO BE A FULL DEMON after YEARS of searching, she says yes without asking for elaboration from him (the guy who u lost trust for and is obsessed with u and said humans have no value so yes this method is gonna be peachy) and is shocked to find out from the serpent lord ( who was confused to u not knowing (rightly so, what kind of idiot agrees to something not knowing what it is)) that u will get rid of ur body to inhabit a demon one and u confront the guy crying and in chock at his hate for humans which u knew but was looking the other way (why is she badass lord with others even her husband but is a child with this guy ???). Don't get me started with her not even visiting the dungeons once to check up on what the 2nd lead has been doing when demons keep fleeing (rat lord, black serpent, the red stone floating around shu???) question something woman!! HAVE SOME DISTRUST OR FIND OUT SOMETHING ON UR OWN, what leader just follows plans given by advisors without input. Even her husband is planning ahead for his band of brothers and they don't know about it but it still works! I'm sorry she's a good individual, just not a head of an entire community

i don't mind her personality and he doesn't mind her going there cz he know she won't cheat BUT the 2nd ML suggesting that she does more than drinking and partying and her coming home with wet hair and never saying more about what she is doing is bound to cause problems and trust issues as seen when he follows her around secretly (albeit his suspicion of her being a demon being a main drive) she never explains much so that's my main issue

he allows her to do that knowing she won't cheat (it's still historical era and not an open marriage) but for her to rub salt on his wounds and say i was at ruyi pavilion knowing it's a brothel (what can u do other than sleep with someone else especially if u come back with wet hair) and not even have the decency to lie or give an explanation (which she can't cz there are rules) then losing trust is to be expected and suspecting her of being a demon is understandable.

i don't mind a flirty FL but is she completely indifferent to others' opinions so much that she sees no issue leaving the house at night and returning like nothing is wrong, saying she was at a BROTHEL? Does the ML have no self respect when he just kissed her with no comment on why she went there? There's a difference between trust and fooling urself. even if she gets upset later (preview of ep 28) for him getting suspicious of what is behind her door (he doesnt trust me?), she's 100% at fault cz he respected her enough before. This is why i hate their identites not being found yet, there's a completely different side of them that the other doesnt know causing misunderstandings from actions completely innocent but NONE IS EVEN TRYING TO EXPLAIN OR SAY ANYTHING BUT LOOKING THE OTHER WAY. That is toxic as hell and justifiable for a divorce

i don't think so tho cz those moments she was asking for divorce, he was saying " we already fixed the misunderstanding between the palace and demon city so let's make up" so i think suspicion and identity came first especially him figuring it out first cz he follows her around and find out when she transformed (totally set up by the 2ML ) partly the reason why she was upset cz he secretly followed her and didnt trust her

they don't show us what he said/did. I'm speculating it cz she said "there's no going back" and in another preview when he held his sword against her (the identity reveal moment", she told him not to do "something" or it'll be over (i think he broke the barrier to the demon city) so he did something impulse (to be expected with how much hate he had and wanting to eliminate the demon city that led to her wanting divorce

i don't want her to lose her powers, even her dream was to be a full demon. she's the baddass type that fits her role. I hope he's the one who lives longer than a human after all he's a celestial palace disciple. maybe the final fight will unlock more potential for him and more longevity
