Ahhhhh nostalgia. This screened in the early evening slot on ABC in Australia, through the 1980s and 90s. My siblings and I, got away with unsupervised viewing at that time of day! (It was much less scary than Dr Who, which was right afterwards) I blame it for my early addiction to Kung Fu movies. Very disturbing to watch it as an adult and realise how impregnated with double entendre it is(sorry for the bad pun).
I love this article so much! THIS is the stuff that makes me love MDL. These gorgeous examples of what bring us all together. The many differing points of view, that actually show how much we have in common.
I am running with my interpretation of this as a "How I came to join MDL" story: I came across MDL, after watching Three. 3! So Ji Sub dramas, in a row, in 2016/2017, and really wanting to know if "Meeting your first love in childhood" was a KDrama 'thing' (read: trope). I hovered around as a non-member of MDL for another couple of years (because. Reasons.) Until I finally read an editorial I loved, and felt compelled to put my comment in - I can't remember what exactly, but probably one by Cho Na TBH 😁
I still find that trope troubling, but I am happy to know I am not alone in my committment (read: addiction) to Asian dramas.
Serendipity is a 'fated' or 'fateful' co-incidence. For example, you somehow accidentally end up moving next door to someone who turns out to be your soul-mate... So all those people who say "There's no such thing as co-incidence", believe in serendipity. I.e. that it was 'meant' to happen due to some higher power - fate. It's the stuff that kdrama tropes are made of!😁 Expect this drama to be all about fate.
I watched this coz of the ML facial expression. Always so mad no matter the situation😂
Very late response, sorry, but I was the same.! He has the perfect expression for the saying "If Looks Could Kill". If I knew how to make a meme, I would 🤣
I totally agree TaherRamzan! Serendipity's Embrance sounds soooooooo pretentious to me. The literal translations, Is it fate? Is it a coincidence?; get me contemplating and engaged. Serendipity's Embrace just makes me roll my eyes.
Netflix Oceania from today. BUT I really hope the first 5 minutes isn't an indication of the whole show. The simplistic and shockingly generalised representations of 'brain types' (e.g. hypersexualised) under the banner of neuroscience 🤔 Actually is just embarrassing. Did they do ANY research? Or are we meant to just accept all of this hokum pseudo-science as a comedic trope?
Trauma can be an irrational fear of something triggered by a bad event or something you cannot overcome making…
I totally respect your comments. The semantics of 'therapy' language are very much in a transition at the moment. It's no longer just in the domain of clinics - it's in everday lexicon. I can't tell you how many times I've heard 'intrusive thoughts' on youtube, let alone 'narcissist'. It's great that people are discussing the meanings of trauma. But translation is always one of the underlying complications here on MDL
Such a cute name for something so skin crawling
