Even Wang Xing Yue and Wu Jin Yan complained about the extremely slow-burn romance. Apparently the script was not easy for them and they had to improvise a lot. It really shows a real lack of estimation.

Cause the actual ending is that sh.t one YuZheng served us on episode 40. To avoid viewers wrath and seeing for themselves how sh.tty that ending was, YuZheng and his colleagues decided to film an extra scene two days ago (no time for post production nor dubbing) so everyone will be happy.
Now I am manifesting for Wang Xing Yue and Wu Jin Yan to be in a better directed drama. They got loads of chemistry, the type I like : spicy and mature. Hopefully a better production house than the joke that is YuZheng's takes interest in their onscreen pairing.
Ok 5/10 drama cause YuZheng killed its drama main traction and the ending sounds really bad and ruined on purpose by an idiot PD that just had to follow the f.cking novel's ending ( I don't count the extra episode sorry).

I think YuZheng is probably the luckiest PD around cause that guy is mediocre as h.ll Now I am concerned about "Perfect match" and Wang Xing Yue character's treatment in the show. Granted "The perfect match" unlike "The Double" was made right after Wang Xing Yue started rising. So maybe the end result will be better.

Yeah he wasn't. Just look at the drama and you understand he wasn't. The ending of ep 40 is as bad as that candle kiss. Even the novel gives an satisfying HE but YuZheng goes to great length to ruin that. This how much that guy really trusted WXY...
They just needed to keep the HE of the novel but even that YuZheng had to ruin it. Imagine WXY with Duke Su hadn't blown up this is that unsatisfactory ending we would have been served without an extra episode as a last minute fix from a brainless PD

Because YuZheng underestimated WXY and his collab with WJY during the making of the show (May 2023 to Sep 2023). I strongly believe he was casted last minute. YuZheng imo is a mediocre PD but a very lucky one

The drama shows it to me. During the making of the show (from May 2023 to Sep 2023) WXY was still relatively unknown and not as popular as we see him today. The way his character was treated by episode 25 til the end with that ridiculously low screentime number plus the way SYR and Wanning were fleshed out and pushed to the front compared to XH prove it to me that YuZheng didn't think Duke Su would be the most popular and sought after character of the show. They noticed it reason why they shot an extra episode. Otherwise they would have left that half-assed ending

I repeat Shen Yu Rong and Wanning are not the main tractions of the drama. It is XH. You sacrifice the character, you ruin your ending, you lose your viewers. As expected drama lost its Number 1 spot on Yunhe to A Tale of Rose. Had YuZheng been smarter and less in his ass The Double would have been untouchable and soared higher no matter its flaws. Ending left a bitter taste on the tongue. All that tension for that ? Extra episode ? Lmao

The biggest mistake of YuZheng was sacrificing the development XH character because he had doubts about Wang Xing Yue and his chemistry with Wu Jin Yan. People can say whatever they want about Shen Yu Rong or Wanning being "more interesting" -well easy when they have been fleshed out by the PD- but once the drama aired the biggest traction of the show apart from the revenge storyling turn up to be Wang Xing Yue's Xiao Heng to the point this month has become HIS month in cdramaland and the drama had its peak numbers when he was very important in the show.
