Exactly! The most daring thing she’s done is dress up as a man and get a name for herself as a skilled baduk gambler. And since she’s been successful in that ONE thing she’s done where, let’s face it, she’s been indulged by the people as a novelty, I guess she thinks she’s got the skillset to go up against the court/crown. She hasn’t even seen what actually happens to the money she’s won through her games as someone else has always done the dangerous work of going to the Qing empire and getting back the people for her. Even her father was a peace loving man and seldom discussed whatever was happening in court. Lee In definitely holds the upper hand here and he will end up saving her over and over again maybe even at the expense of himself.

Yes! I enjoyed seeing glimpses of their dynamic prior to all the stuff that went down 3 years ago. She never backed down from his “I am royalty/I have power” energy even in the very rare instances that he brought it out.

I also enjoyed the rare moment of trust and honesty they both displayed when they discussed whatever had happened. “Tell me everything that you did and leave nothing out.” I hope they reach a stage of having this as a default soon.

When I saw the tree burning what immediately came to mind was Lee In commanding MyungHa to bring it to life in whatever way possible. That gave me the feeling that new sprouts would grow on it eventually - maybe even like you said Lee In’s reign ends and the Grand Prince ascends. But I don’t think Lee In would let that happen without ensuring that the throne is safe and the dowager queen and his uncle and all their people and whoever else would pose a threat to the grand prince have been removed. Him saying “I will be the king until the end of my life” seems to be pointing to that. And as he knows his mother and uncle wouldn’t kill him, he will make sure to clear the rubbish out before he steps down/dies in other ways 🙂

I am with you regarding the ending. I would love to believe that what the OP @renbeefer says will come to pass BUT all my experience watching dramas like this has made me cynical lol. If not a sad ending maybe it’ll be one of those where you find no closure and the comments will be filled with “So what exactly happened? Did they end up together? Was it all just a dream?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Their conversation in her old house was so bittersweet. I love how she said he has such a beautiful smile. They found peace and healing in each other. Such a beautiful couple. I am blushing thinking of what shenanigans these two inexperienced people will be up to considering they’ve got years of pent up frustrations to work through lol 🙈

The lightning hitting the exact same tree the late king planted for the current king does seem to be a sign and using it to name the new crown prince is an interesting way to look at it. As if this lightning was needed for the death and decay the tree has endured so far (the decayed mind of the late king poisoned by the dead minister) to kill it off so that new, healthier branches can sprout (the current king and the grand prince).

And yes! The dowager queen looking lost was a sight to behold! Next I want court lady Dong to be put in her place. She’s a dangerous one cos of her misplaced sense of importance. She doesn’t understand that she is dispensable and that if the dowager queen decides to use her, her days are numbered. Her best bet to stay alive and thrive is to be on the king’s side.

I am in love with Lee In’s intelligence and his ability to stay impersonal and asses a situation from all angles and then make a move. He is the ultimate baduk player for me in this drama 😀😀
