I think the baddie who injured TZ and YD is just a lackey (maybe XY’s second in command guy) who knows the puppet spell. In the first or second episode the demon elder does mention to the divine being (who later turned out to be the same XY’s second in command!) about asking “him” for help. So it definitely looks like there is a mastermind. Maybe the one who injured YY when he landed as TZ is the main one (who also fought him in Hades after he sent YD off). It looks like all the deities that were killed during the demon-heaven war are being puppeted.
Wasn’t there something about YD not being able to heal TZ with her heart spirit because of a curse the baddie put on him? Maybe that is also why she needs to kill him to get rid of the half that is damaged and replace with a half that is working well

I guess he plays dirty by appearing weak and helpless in front of RQ (the arrogance and cunning when he says " She hasn't encountered me yet!") who saves him not knowing who he actually is. She is enamored by his silver hair and pretty eyes and sexy smile and takes him to heaven realm where the Emperor has his doubts. He then tricks RQ into falling in love (why she enforces the "no love in heaven realm" rule) and marrying him and then steals the Jade thingie. Goes back to his Asura clan and maybe even realises that hello! he actually loves RQ with that cold heart of his but doesn't know how to or, even want to, give up his cause of making the Asuras immortal (huh! waddya know! daddy and sonny are both wearing blinders when it comes to love). He fights RQ and then what happens is a mystery. The sword spirit says he's dead and everyone in heaven realm also says he and RQ died fighting each other BUT I have my doubts.....
So if YY gets his Asura powers, does that mean he is the first true immortal Asura? Hmm....

I think YD might be meaning it both literally and figuratively 🙂 TZ is just YY without his consciousness and she knows that which makes me feel like she doesn’t see them as two different people. Just that she is aware of what would eventually happen once he regains his memories and shed his mortal avatar. I am curious though - since YY wasn’t supposed to lose his memories or his powers, would that still count as a mortal incarnation if he had landed safely?

YD is amazing for this the more I think about it. She has such an out of box way of thinking that is maybe cos she’s an (aspiring) writer and has such vivid imagination that she doesn’t curb for the sake of mundane stuff like heavenly laws and what not 😂 She was able to show TZ/YY that raw power isn’t always everything.

My fav part of the whole "Now I understand what it feels like to have responsibilities" dialogue is when YD says "It affects a lot of other people" (I paraphrase) but THAT is what sealed the deal for her. She understood that it wasn't just about her. And that if YY put her first, it would mean it happens at the expense of a lot of other innocent beings and that is why he did what he did. Ofcourse they can now go back and figure out how to not sacrifice anyone but it was a lesson that had to be learnt :)

The conversations between YD and TZ are so wholesome! And the friendship between the 3 of them! I can see it carrying on in heaven realm as well.
TZ's "Who exactly am I?!" Could be an impetus for YY to question his origins and find out if he's blindly following heaven realm's rules so as to not tarnish the name of his mother and invite blame by virtue of who his father is. I love that parallel.
YD's "Now I understand what it feels like to have responsibilities" She grew up and saw the bigger picture :) YZ as YD who got her memory back is amazing! So much poise and elegance and her whole stance just shows her maturity even when she's calling TZ "Xiaoren ":)) You can see her body language change after she realises that YY and TZ are indeed different people and that she found closure in how YY treated her through how TZ stood up for and prioritized her. So lovely!
I also like the idea that YY (through TZ) understood what YD is capable of and how she can actually support him with his duty towards the 3 realms. The imbalance in power, now that he no longer has his cultivation, was a good way to further show this. YY was always the Sovereign Deity while YD was the lowly immortal servant. But here, TZ is the lowly mortal with no powers while YD still has hers AND a super intelligent brain!!!!!! Now, they'll go back and be on equal grounds. So exciting!

Hmm that is a good point. Sigh. It’s heartbreaking though to think that the bigger picture (ie the drama’s success) might have been overshadowed by such a petty reason. I wasn’t willing to admit to myself that there were characters and scenes that did not fit in well with the overall flow and pace of the story and thought that I could probably enjoy them better if I saw the whole drama all in one go once it finished airing rather than in piecemeal but what you insinuated does make sense now that I think about it.

Oh I did not realise this was a thing! Where the company plays such games :( Such a shame if this is what's happening as IM had the potential to be an amazing drama with how it started. I still love it for the underlying story and the main characters and the chemistry between CY and YZ but yes, I agree some scenes could have been done better. I just attributed it to the editing but knowing the company had a had in it is really sad :(((((

Maybe it could be cos we're watching it as it airs? As this is a long drama and we watch it episode by episode, the focus is on the story as a whole and not just about the 2 main characters which makes it feel like they don't have much screen time. I had the same issue with LAR when I watched it for the first time and kept skipping the scenes without SiFeng and XuanJi in them. But watching it for the 2nd and then the 3rd time without ffwind anything made me realize how vital those so called "filler" episodes are to the overall story and I actually ended up enjoying it a lot more than the first time and in reality, made me appreciate the two main characters a whole lot more. So, even though I am also frustrated that YY/TZ and YD don't seem to be together or resolving their issues and just getting together etc, I am eagerly waiting for this to finish airing so that I can sit and watch it from the beginning all in one go and fall in love with YY all over again :))
At episode 28 and the development of their relationship has been amazingly well written, directed and enacted…
I feel like because they both grew up alone (literally for XLH and figuratively for DFQC), they are both so touch starved and I love that they both use touch as a love language. From the very beginning, every time either of them are about to experience an intense emotion, they reach for the other and that's so damn soothing to watch. :) And actions speak louder than words....he has come to her rescue every single time she was in danger (even though it's because of the Heart Curse) and she has stood up for him even if she made it clear she wasn't having any emotions for him initially and that has built such a strong bond of trust between them. So beautiful :(

You know, everything is so (unnaturally) smooth-flowing that I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I am not used to so much clarity for everyone's actions and intentions in a Xian Xia drama LOL! Everyone has their own motivations and they are all true to that and the growth in characters is so organic! XLH does everything right - communicates articulately, soothes and calms, stands her ground when she needs to, coaxes when the situation calls for it, chooses her battles, bats her lashes and pouts and acts cute when she figures THAT will work hahahaha, etc etc. For someone who grew up in isolation she has tremendous people, and relationship, skills!!!!! I approve!!! Even picked up a couple of pointers from her :)) DFQC and CH are such good men. They learn from their experiences and are willing to change and let go of prejudices and just become better people. My respect for them keep increasing. And all the secondary characters are so multi-dimensional!
