I noticed this too after rewatching the first couple of episodes..which is why I am wondering if the HE is actually XY in disguise (puppet-ed). XX was very vocal about how only a few in the demon clan knew the actual spell. HE's whole "don't fall in love" spiel was super aggressive during the punishment scene of the curator who was punished during ep 2 but was a lot more suggestive when he was sending off YY to the mortal realm. And the way he agreed immediately to YY's idea of going to the mortal realm was quite suspicious....
Maybe that demon Elder is actually working with XY to bring back the glory of the Asura clan (and for XY, some sort of misplaced idea of revenge for RQ's death) since XX is peace loving and just wants to live with TZQ?
I feel sad for Tang Zhou towards that rejection because he couldn't remember anything in the heaven realm with…
I am enjoying all the bromances tbh :) YM and XX roasting chicken in hell-fire (LOL), YM and TZ discussing their feelings for the same girl, TZ asking XX's opinion on love, etc etc - so damn wholesome!

Do you think maybe it's cos she doesn't trust TZ after his constant declarations of "I am the heir to my sect and therefore, I cannot and should not love" which resonates with her experience with YY and not specifically because she sees TZ and YY as one? I felt like she was thinking more like "I will not repeat the same mistake again" in rejecting TZ and not just because TZ was YY.
What if it's XY who has used the puppet spell on the heavenly emperor in revenge for RQ's death which was probably orchestrated by someone in the heavenly realm (similar to what happened to TZQ in the demon realm)? And the demon elder took advantage of it all to wage war? Star Jidu seems like the key somehow - he seems like a double agent of sorts especially considering he was TZQ's mentor etc
She's in love with TZ because he's YY, she can't help her feelings even if she or he has memories or not
I also think it might have to do with how TZ is responding to her. As YY, he never indicated that he knew how she felt or that he returned her feelings. As TZ, he feels like he can do that and if the trailers are to be believed, even goes as far as to go against his sect and declare his feelings for her openly (but not sure if this is after he got back his memories as YY ). Which is what YD always wanted.
I like this idea that he got to see a world where the responsibilities of the 3 realms were not on his shoulder and could live carefree. And, if his memories as TZ are intact once he goes back to heaven realm as YY, it will be even better as he has already made the choice to love YD and knows how it actually feels and can work on taking care of the 3 realms while being in love and having YD by his side. In turn, YD has also matured enough to understand where he was coming from as YY and can meet him on equal footing.
It's true that age really does not bring wisdom. YD was a veritable baby in age in comparison to YY and she was rightly portrayed as someone who saw only her little world. She expected YY to give up what he considered to be the reason for his entire existence to cater to her feelings and decided to end her life when she thought she would never be chosen by him. YY on the other hand, even having lived for more than a millenia, could not see beyond his 'duty' to the 3 realms as that is how he was conditioned to believe (for that heavenly emperor's very self-centered reasons I think!!!). In the end, they had to have their memories erased and start afresh and meet each other as new people in order to grow and mature and to realize how to be with each other :) They found a different perspective to their situations and circumstances in heaven realm and with it, another chance...such a beautiful idea!
I like that I got to see that while YD and YY were having their squabbles in the heavenly realm, love was blooming between XX and TSQ in the demon realm :) Was a nice parallel.
Also, TZ and his penchant for mistaking handsome men for YD when he's out of his mind with drink or something else lol :)
