Things could go both ways, so its hard to say anything for certain. If Im not mistaken, much of Japanese culture has been influenced by Chinese traditions. Even kanji has roots in hanzi doesnt it??
Demons can always be based on their religion but their stories & overall story can always be inspired from various literatures, no??
The drama is based on the ancient Chinese book "Classic of Mountains and Seas", also known as Shanhai jing (山海经).Early…
Bruh look, im fully aware that this drama is based on a Chinese classic novel, which is much older than Demon Slayer. But it seems like you missed my point, I simply said it reminds me of Demon Slayer. I never claimed it was copied from Demon Slayer. In fact, its likely that Demon Slayer is loosely inspired by various classic Chinese novels, and this might be one of them. Many anime/mangas are influenced by Chinese classical novels or mythology, for example, Goku is based on Sun Wukong. So just to clarify, Im not saying this drama is a copy of Demon Slayer. It just reminds me of it because i watched Demon Slayer first.
This drama somewhat reminds me of Demon Slayer. For example, both the drama and the anime center on demon hunting groups and whenever a demon is captured or killed, they often have a tragic backstory, much like in Demon Slayer.
The traits of Demon Slayer protagonists also seem distributed among various main characters here. For example, Tanjiro's empathy is reflected in FL WX, who also shares similarities with ZYC, as his backstory resembles Tanjiro’s. The ML ZYZ, has aspects of Muzan’s character but in a positive way. Despite having killed many humans, including ZYC's family, he isnt portrayed as entirely negative, instead he is a protagonist with complex, positive traits that make him intriguing.
Bai Jiu is almost a direct parallel to Zenitsu, his cowardice and his bond with ZYC and Ying Lei strongly reminds me of Zenitsu's bond with Tanjiro and Inosuke. Ying Lei, meanwhile, combines characteristics of Nezuko and Inosuke. He is wild, not in strength but in his mountain dwelling lifestyle similar to Inosuke and he is also half demon, half human, like Nezuko. Pei Sijing brings together aspects of Kanao and Shinobu, with her backstory involving her brother mirroring the sibling relationship between Shinobu, Kanao and Kanae.
Lastly antagonist Li Lun somewhat reminds me of Hantengu's final form, Zohakuten. Their drum like weapons are quite similar. Li Lun may have embodied characteristics of other villains as well but due to that drum like weapon, he always reminds me of Zohakuten.
You can watch Jack & Joker if you don't like university themes, they had Mafia/Debt-collector vibes with pro stealer/thief…
Im currently watching jack and joker on regular basis, i liked first 6 eps but when jack again went back to his boss, thats where i started losing my interest.
I am a bl fan but please stop dreaming 😴😂 There will be no arc between ZYC and ZYZ just hints and innuendos…
What i mean by their arc is their backstory. Like why did ZYZ kill ZYC's father and brother?? Then, how will ZYC try to kill him or will he actually go through with it?? What will he feel by that point?? Im pretty sure that when the time comes for ZYC to confront ZYZ, he will have grown closer to him and learned his side of the story, understanding why he felt he had no choice but to kill his family. This is where ZYC might hesitate and i think this could be either the final arc or the second to last one.
Why does the school completely overlook how Ken and his two sidekicks constantly pick on Shin, bully other students and even have connections to a mafia gang?? Now, they are trying to expel Shin just because he was beaten by the mafia. Who actually lured Shin into that mess?? Wasnt it Ken and his two bitches?? Its blatantly obvious they are behind everything, yet the teachers and everyone else just ignore it, as if people in a scene ignore what’s happening around them in p*rn videos. Its so frustrating to watch these three bitches constantly get a free pass and escape any consequences. Why cant the school just expel all three of them and finally bring some peace??
At this point, i dont even care if these three bitches have a redemption arc, i just want a terrible ending for them, even worse than Jeng.
Also, i really hated how Shin just stood there watching while Saint was beaten by them. Atp Saint should stop asking for forgiveness and just move on. No matter what happened between them, Saint has apologized enough, he is been humiliated, beaten and more. Its time for him to stop. If anything, i want Shin to go after him and beg to repair their friendship.
As for what Mr. Sung did to that guy, Louise, i think it was justified. Louise was just a plain bully so i dont think Mr. Sung was wrong to treat him as the school's errand boy. He deserved to feel what its like to be on the receiving end.
The real romance lies between ZYZ and ZYC. To give someone permission to kill you, thats one of the greatest acts of love, in my eyes. And when that person hesitates to kill you despite you have killed their family and grieves over your death (which eventually will happen in drama), that level of love is unmatched for me. This is where the supposed romance between ZYZ and WX falls short while the subtle bromance/romance between ZYZ and ZYC shines. Honestly i cant wait for the ZYZ and ZYC arc but i think it will happen in the very last phase of the drama. Until then, i will enjoy their bickering bromance.
Is thailand still making these university based, cringey BL romcoms set in engineering campuses?? Really?? Ep 1 was utterly unbearable, packed with cringe and now you are telling me this series has 24 episodes with a weekly release schedule?? Seriously?? Where do they get this confidence??
Im also exhausted by seeing the same, uninspired faces in these university romcoms. I have lost track of how many times i have seen Drake in these type of shows and its not like he even brings anything special to the role. Just plain irritating.
Right now both Juyoung and Dohoe seem justified in their respective positions, although Dohoe appears slightly more at fault because we havent seen his point of view yet.
Juyoung kept in contact with Dohoe's abusive father mainly because the father was the only connection between them. Im pretty sure Juyoung must have searched for Dohoe everywhere but when he couldnt find him, he had no choice but to wait. Since Dohoe’s father was still linked to him, Juyoung kept that connection alive in the hope that if Dohoe returned, it would be to his home.
Next is, if Dohoe’s father was so terrible, why did Juyoung shed tears for him?? I think the father may have changed over the 12 years and Juyoung must have noticed that change. If Juyoung stayed in touch with him, there was likely some attachment involved. For us, the 12 year time skip happened in just one episode but for the characters, 12 years is a long time, enough to change someone’s perspective. Over the years, Juyoung may have developed a bond with Dohoe’s father, possibly in a father-son or mentor-mentee dynamic which plays a big part in this. In the end, Juyoung isnt heartless, he is very sensitive compared to Dohoe. If you observe his character from the beginning, you will see how soft hearted he is.
We cant forgive Dohoe’s father because of how he treated Dohoe and the other kids. Those memories are still fresh in our minds and we havent seen his 12 year journey. But thats not the case for Juyoung.
As for Dohoe, his reasons for ignoring Juyoung might seem valid but he is still at fault until we get a clearer explanation of his actions. On the surface, it looks like Dohoe is upset with Juyoung because he kept in touch with his abusive father, which is understandable. But Dohoe is also at fault. Why didnt he call Juyoung when he promised to stay in touch?? When Juyoung was searching for him, Dohoe probably knew about it, especially since he was aware that Juyoung was in contact with his father. Yet, he chose to hide from him for so many years. Even though he might have valid reasons, right now Dohoe seems more at fault. However, with four more episodes left and the post timeskip storyline just beginning, we will likely get a clearer view of things from his perspective.
I cant deny that i ended up feeling more sympathy for Yeong Su. Yes, what he did to Go Yeong was wrong but his internalized homophobia will never allow him to be at peace with his sexual identity. He will always be caught in an endless internal struggle over who he is. Internalized homophobia is a deeply sensitive issue, often shaped by societal pressures and past traumatic experiences. Someone dealing with it can never truly find happiness, constantly battling with themselves.
Go Yeong, however, has fully embraced his identity. He is proud of who he is, faced his struggles head on and moved forward. Even though Yeong Su hurt him and left him heartbroken, Go Yeong found love again and lives confidently in his truth. But Yeong Su may never be able to reconcile with himself because of the weight of his internalized homophobia.
When i first watched E4, i was angry at him. But after reflecting on his perspective, i couldnt help but feel sad imagining the kind of life he is trapped in.
Here's a question though, do you think a lesbian drama would have faced the same push back? I find homophobes…
If it was on big channel like tvN then def there would have been huge backlash by korean homophobes and if it was OTT drama with no explicit nudity & sex then there wouldnt have been much problem.
Korean homophobes only want reason to ban queer content and LITBC has nudity/sex which is why it is getting heavily backlash from conserative groups but if it hadnt nudity they wouldnt have been able to point out any mistake in drama even if they were against it.
we're not underestimating the financial risks associated with producing something that challenges conservatism,…
"Not everyone is going to agree with you or the creator's decision. You can ignore our comments and move on. " That's what I'm saying; not everyone is going to have the same opinion as you. You can also just ignore my comments and move on. There's no need to reply further.
we're not underestimating the financial risks associated with producing something that challenges conservatism,…
"Producers who seek to appeal to conservative groups should invest in creating their own original stories." If the webtoon writer herself isnt making any objections, then whats the problem here?? She has been involved in the production since its inception and is more than happy with it. So, whats wrong if they choose to remove or alter the queer angle to avoid wasting money??
If she had raised objections, i would understand but when she herself is okay with it why does everyone else have a problem??
Look, not everything is going to be the way you want. You can simply ignore it if you dont like how they removed the queer angle and move on.
People who are upset about the removal of the queer/GL aspect should take a look at the situation faced by Love in the Big City from conservative groups in korea. Despite being an OTT drama on TVING, LITBC still faces backlash from homophobic koreans. Now imagine what would have happened with Jeongnyeon, a weekend drama on one of the top broadcasting channels, tvN. The channel and production studios have invested a whopping 33 billion won and all of that could have been wasted if it was also banned due to complaints from conservative groups in korea.
IMO it's because Hong doesn't really "love" Min Jun. She likes him and she feels comfortable and safe/stable with…
Still it doesnt look believable at all. Imean they were together for very short period of time. If they had been in relationship for 7-8 yrs then it would have bern looked more believable.
I really love the kind of melodrama this show delivers. The angst is portrayed so well and the emotions hit hard. When you think about it, neither of them is truly at fault for the breakup. Both have valid reasons and its really the circumstances and timing that are to blame.
However, the one thing that doesnt quite make sense is that, even after five years, they still havent moved on. If they had been in a relationship for a longer period, like 7-8 years, it would be more believable. But they were only together for a short time, so its a bit hard to accept that they are still not over each other. That said, if we overlook this, the show is really excellent.
Wow, this is so good!! The first two episodes were excellent exactly what i hoped for from the director of Where Your Eyes Linger, To My Star and Blueming. She is definitely back!!
Neither of the leads are conventionally good looking but they fit their roles perfectly. They have embodied their characters so well and their rugged features make them look convincingly like taekwondo athletes. The chemistry between them is amazing & even the brief moments of angst were brilliantly portrayed. Their banter and conversations feel so natural and the acting is spot on..
The atmosphere is warm and comforting, with the dynamic between the leads reminding me of the chemistry in To My Star. The village neighborhood setting also brings similar vibes to To My Star 2.
The music department is also spot on, the choices of bgms are really good and the OST played at the end of Ep 2 was amazing.
On the other hand, i loved both Yin Yang Master movies, with Dream of Eternity being my absolute favorite.
