Title The Oath of Love Spoiler
These are my thoughts after finishing episodes 17 & 18:
1. I got a bit of secondhand embarrassment seeing Zhi Xiao walk out all dressed up & almost trip because of the heels she wore (but she did look cute!)
2. Gu Wei complaining about the price of the noodles made me laugh because he's a doctor who can clearly afford them (this is more of a joke as I know that just because you have money you shouldn't spend it without thought.)
3. I found it funny that Zhi Xiao was bothered by Gu Wei's closeness to Gao Xi yet she didn't think too much about how her closeness to Shao Jiang would make Gu Wei feel (specifically when she invited him along on their date. Yes, I know dating is new to her so this comment isn't made to call her out but the situation really did make me chuckle.)
4. The audacity of Shao Jiang to tell Gu Wei that since Zhi Xiao & him aren't married he still has a chance (not respecting relationships will never be admirable.)
5. What was the point of Shao Jiang confessing to her when he already knows she's in a relationship other than to make things between them a bit awkward? (also, I didn't care for how he was using their friendship as a guise to try & make a move. I'm not saying he was a fake friend by that.)
6. I'm glad that Zhi Xiao straight up told him the difference between her feelings for him & Gu Wei (I hope that he will finally respect her feelings & relationship.)
7. While I don't like the stunt his mom pulled, Gu Wei's parents' concerns about his relationship were understandable (though I'm glad that they seemed to accept Gu Wei's thoughts about it & hope they won't interfere again in the future.)
8. Gu Wei writing a thank you note for Zhi Xiao in his published paper & the conversation about their present & future was heart fluttering (& the man said he wasn't romantic!)
9. I love that we got to see both of them jealous but that they talked about those feelings quickly enough.
10. Seeing Zhi Xiao splash Gu Xiao with tea was so satisfying to see (sorry to those that like him but I don't so it's his best scene for me.)
11. Sansan keeps getting more & more annoying.

To me, frankly, there is no such thing as hating a character, because I look at other things. Credible character,…
A lot of people accept how a character is written & what their purpose is for the story yet still hate them, especially if said character displays traits that one isn't fond of or find triggering. I mentioned things about her character that I don't like but wanted to make it clear I didn't hate her because sometimes people think if you express that or criticism then it means you're hating.

Yes, I agree that Gu Wei didn't have a choice as he wanted to make it clear to everyone what his feelings actually were. I'm glad that he did so because if not, then the colleagues, & Gu Xiao, would've carried on with that thinking. &, yes, I was going to bring up the fact that Gu Xiao has misled her colleagues into thinking there's something romantic between her & Gu Wei all this time but I didn't want to come off as too unfeeling towards the situation.

It seems to me obvious that if Gu Wei was really interested in Gao Xi, he would have already made his move especially…
Exactly, she already knew his feelings towards her but decided to ignore it. Also, she let her colleagues believe that there was something more between them too. I know that Gu Wei didn't stop them either but I think he just didn't take the comments seriously & thought that she did as well. Yes, it made me cringe when she asked "how is she better than me" because that think you're better than someone else attitude isn't cute at all.

I agree completely! It's very realistic.. Usually in a group of friends you'd be closer to some than others..…
Yeah, I've been on both sides of that group of friends. As I mentioned, it's just that the marketing & synopsis of the story made it seem as if the friendships would be different.

"'Dear Abby' wannabe w/crapy advice" has me laughing out loud but it's very spot on!
True, though I have seen modern shows reference it before. I'm not sure if the younger audience caught the references though.

Is the novel worth reading? If so, is there an English translation available?
I saw someone else say that too so I can't wait to see the differences once I read the novel.

Thank you for letting me know! I think I'll wait to read it until I finish the drama so I don't let the novel influence my viewing experience.

Yes, I've seen comments saying that so I was curious.

Yes, I am familiar with her & that's why it made me laugh.

It is actually just a dream and not time travel, but she does not know that. Even though she seems to have some…
I just finished episodes 21-22 & she was showing signs of waking up so I can't wait for that, though I am going to miss her dream world.

I don't manage to comprehend how this drama has such a low rating. This is by far one of the most high-quality…
Agreed & let me add to that there aren't really annoying characters (or at least the ones that are don't stick around for long). It may be a simple story but I've enjoyed every episode so far & have loved seeing the growth of characters.

I just finished episodes 21 & 22 &, although I've enjoyed all episodes & the life lessons they present, these two episodes particularly touched me. Episode 21 beginning with her reading her father's letter (which made me tear up) & seeing her pick herself up again was heartwarming. Also, Lu Xun was so great being by her side comforting her. I know he's been there all along but she really needed him in that moment. As for episode 22, I thought that Qian Wei's disappointment & want to save Li Chong Wen from making a choice to go against his morals was portrayed perfectly - it wasn't over the top or too pushy. I liked seeing her care towards him & how their past was truly reconciled here.

I just finished episode 16 & these are my personal feelings about it, which I know may be different from others & may make me sound a bit harsh. &, yes, I understand the actions of the characters but this is just how I feel about it.

Unrequited love sucks & it would be embarrassing to have colleagues know about my crush/tease me only for said crush to announce in front of them that he likes someone else. However, I personally didn't feel that bad for Gao Xi for a couple of reasons. First, it always rubbed me the wrong way that she would snitch to ML's parents using their like towards her as an excuse to try & control ML. Second, I didn't like how she was rude to FL & would say things to cause misunderstandings because she saw her getting close to ML. Third, even if ML didn't straight up tell her "I don't like you romantically" (though it's not as if she confessed to him), he did tell her to keep things professionally a few times & through his actions she saw how he treated FL differently from her (in other words, she knew he liked FL & not her). & finally, one of my pet peeves is when a character has the "I've liked you for years. Why do you like this person instead of me?" mentality. I do understand wondering "why not me?" but just because you've known someone/liked them for a longer period of time than the person they like that doesn't mean anything. Your crush isn't obligated to reciprocate your feelings. With all of that being said, though I do find Gao Xi an annoying character, I don't hate her & think her vacation time will serve her well, at least I hope so.

Exactly. It's supposed to be their first date & she just let Sansan invite herself along 😩

Yes, I know this is all a dream but you can still feel things while dreaming & I'm still curious to see what dream her is going to do.

I just finished episode 20 & my heart aches for Qian Wei. She had to experience her dad dying & thought going back in time would mean helping him to stay alive only to lose him once again. I could totally understand her feelings of thinking her efforts are useless since she can't change things like she thought. I am curious to see how she reacts after learning that her dad had left her a letter.

When she first heard about taking her father abroad, she first wanted to discuss it with the ML. But he was ignoring…
Since I know this drama has people hating on it, I should've been more clear with my words so it wouldn't come off as hating on FL. I was actually annoyed with ML too for ignoring her because of Sansan too but I literally wrote the og post as soon as I finished the episode & those were the things that stood out too me. (Of course I thought their actions made sense based on what they experienced.) The only scenes I haven't really focused on are the Sansan & Gu Xiao's ones & I don't think that's going to change.

Title Thirty-Nine
I know one of the things that has bothered viewers is how Joohee has seemed to be left out of the friendship circle. Based on the promos, I thought that there was going to be a focus of all 3 of them together too rather than it mostly being Mijo & Chanyoung together. However, it became clear that this story was told through Mijo's pov/her being the focus. I know that in a group of mutual friends even if you're all close there may be one friend who you're closer to or can connect to in a different way than the rest. That's the case here in this story. There's nothing wrong with that & it's obvious that they're not maliciously excluding Joohee. (For me, I would say that I guess the problem is the way the story advertised the friendship.) That being said, even if they didn't mean to exclude her, it's a fact that they did & unintentionally hurt her feelings. That's why the conversation between Joohee & Mijo (leading to Mijo & Chanyoung visiting Joohee & her mom) was one the best scenes of this drama for me. I loved seeing Joohee be honest & voice out her hurt & fears. & I liked seeing Mijo flustered & realizing how she's made Joohee feel. I only wish that this conversation could've happened sooner but at least it happened.
