I think you need to watch a modern drama.

Which historical drama have you seen where there are no deaths? You don't seriously expect every soldier to live right?

So the actor really did get the choice bits. We sure there wasn't favourtism by the writer?

It actually had good directing, good acting, costumes were nice.


Not many people died. They had a happy ending.

No hot kissing or good bed scenes. Almost no chemistry for all couples


However overall it was ok for a 40 episode drama. Definitely not an 8. It isn't a 6 or something like that.

2 for rewatch value.

Skip. Its 40 episodes. My rating is still going to be 7.5 because it is watchable. Its not the worse. However since I know there are other dramas out there and if you haven't started- then skip.

In fact I know of web dramas lasting 20 minutes or more which are better written than this. Please go and watch some other Netflix dramas. I heard good things about the new game drama. The one with hell or something. The Price of beauty which I started is better. There are definitely better historical drama around. This drama is totally bland all the way no fiery chemistry, no good romances and even the villains are not villainous enough.

The directing is good. The costumes are fine. Its the writing. Its lazy, uninspired and totally and badly or rather not researched. Its like a plagiarism of all other cliched historical dramas.

Who is that?😂😂😂 I mean I know who he is in the cast chart but work out how he contributed to the overall plot. I stopped at ep 20 and watched ep 40.

What a crock of shit.

The writer was having grandiose delusions. All the cliches. If you line them up one by one. Including the speeches.... its plagiarism from all random drama speeches.

2 extra points for stupidity.

First was the dad was still lying on the ground dying throughout the Prince Yu super long speech. Geez. If the writer wanted to kill him at least get him to a bed with palace physician and do the dying swan scene.

Two the double murder suicide played out in front of at least 30 people. Make up your mind. If you wrote him as an ambitious man don't make him a love sap weakling at the end. That Su Tang Li served no useful purpose.

Three. Way to hammer home the 2ML idiocy in dramas. Now you've made him eternally pining.

Fine, fine fine, it's not two stupid things. Make it 4 now with the last 4 minute scene of the 2 leads together. 40 freaking episodes to end like this.

My god. I am never going near this writer again. That was painful writing.

I am now going back to ep 20 just watch the rest now. I do actually like the leads but since even Prince Rui didn't have sappy moments or ending. The County Princess also didn't end up with anyone. The Mother didn't end up well as well.

What the heck were the tags for this drama again? I might go back to my Resident Playbook ep 9- 10.

I have to think a bit on how to rate this drama. It actually rates 7.5 but it went so much lower because of the boring writing. Seriously not inspiring and no worthy romance.

I watched the timing on the video. It really was the last 4 minute of the show. Then no kiss. Except as a backlit shadow.

The political pacing is actually quite fast here. I might actually have to stop at ep 7 and continue once ep 15 airs. I went through ep 1-7 today.

I am watching Love from a beauty first even before ep 40 for this. Then going to ep 20 to finish it till ep 40 again. God help me. Hope Prince Rui and Shu Jun have a baby. I have no expectations for the male lead. I assume they will live and maybe not be together.

Omg. I just went to check her drama list out. I dropped 2 of her dramas. Was disgusted with myself for finishing one. Then only enjoyed one drama.

I have dialed my expectation down by 50% now.

Getting mentally prepared for illogical idiocy. The source novel better be better than the scriptwriter.

The story introduction is pretty bad. Its not bad as in poorly done but bad that I am always disgusted by weaklings and self- centred friends.

I have watched enough historical dramas that appreciated loyalty over life. The grandfather proposed the alliance first and totally chickened out

I do not appreciate them showing the FL knowing the implications and still siding with her grandfather.

MAN I am not impressed with the Qiao family.

So now that is off my chest am going to continue. Poor Wei Shao.

Did Wang Hong Yi's agency negotiate his drama airtime well?

I think they did because no normal writer gives so much airtime to a 2ML.

Watch that and be like me... am about to restart from ep 20. I fast fw and skipped ep 32-34. She looks pretty. I can continue to watch it if I am emotionally detached. I am now emotionally detached from this drama becausse the writing is so pedestrian. I am only watching it or continuing it because I happen to like the actors. I am happy seeing them and totally ignoring the plot.

The Prisoner of beauty is too dark and serious for me. I want something with no stakes. This has no serious stakes at hand. It makes for light watching after work and on the subway to work. Its turned into a web drama for me.

I wasn't waiting for this. The acting is definitely good. Its the story.... I am trying to work out if it will be a good script.

I thought the actresses acted with her face. Then the green screen was the background. Then they transpose her face onto the original actress body. It her facial expressions that changed so it was from episode 1. They didn't use her body. So as she said her lines, emote or walked with the green screen it was to use those facial expressions.
